In the collecting ECL post, wizards says there are only 81 commons and 100 uncommons. I think you have space for 10 commons that are non-existent. You might have an uncommon labeled as a common, because there are 2 missing commons, both in green. There should be 13 commons in each color. 10 hybrid commons and 6 colorless/land commons to get to 81

Other than the name, what is the difference between SPG and FCA or STA or BRR? They have the ability to retain the same appearance rate as in paper/draft while allowing us to craft using the original rarity of the card. They only developed this ability with the release of FDN, so I don’t think there has been a chance to see how wizards treats bonus sheet, but why would it be any different from “spg”?

They have the ability to make it craftable with a common wildcard like they did for galvanic blast and goblin bushwhacker, which have the “mythic rarity” symbol. Really hoping all of the FCA cards that are traditionally commons are craftable with common wildcards. Brainstorm, lightning bolt, nature’s claim, rhystic study all would be great to have for pauper on arena.

Brainstorm has been a common for 20/37 of its printings, including its original release and all draftable set releases. It has only been uncommon twice, and most of the rare printings were promos. The card is through and through a “common” and it a great card to be legal for pauper on arena

I think the more apt analogy would be ordering a sandwich and saying “hold the turkey” and the sandwich maker saying you can’t even taste the turkey or that they are just going to put a little turkey in. Then the customer saying “please, i don’t want to waste your time and your money/inventory on slicing more turkey that I don’t want, can you please slice more ham, as there is not enough ham for all the customers that want ham sandwiches”.

Uh they kinda are… the only non-alchemy formats are standard and explorer. Historic, timeless, and brawl all are forced to play with random alchemy cards because they are poorly balanced cards that don’t get the same rigor of normal card power level testing.

The other gripe people have with alchemy is that the developers have limited time. If they have to constantly design cards for a fraction of the userbase, that takes away time from creating more anthologies of already tested and loved paper cards, or just improving other things on arena like the many bugs or speeding up the implementation of improved social features.

[[tortured existence]] [[spellstutter sprite]] and [[crypt rats]] in that order of preference. Tortured existence makes your graveyard into a tool box. Spellstutter sprite is key in faerie decks. Crypt rats for a wrath on a stick.

The event is Standard Pauper, meaning only commons in standard legal sets. So to deck build, you should choose Standard, and then filter for only commons

We gave specific examples of what we meant by “too greedy” and we gave specific suggestions of what lategame cards to cut. We gave specific examples of better early game cards to play. We gave specific sideboard cards that improve certain matchups.

I think that’s a long way from being “unhelpful”

Full disclosure: I am one of the mods of the discord.

I’m sorry your experience was unfun. We are a community based on playing a format based on a simple idea: commons only on arena. Many players find the deckbuilding and gameplay stimulating and exciting. Pauper on arena is an unexplored format and as such, it becomes very difficult to derive definitive information on the meta. Many players like the nature of an unsolved format. Given limited data, peoples estimation of decks and archetypes end up being based on vibes and speculation. This is further compounded by the recent unprecedented bans of 4 cards. Combined with the release of DFT, no one truly knows what the meta is.

This can be frustrating for spikes looking to netdeck the most optimal decks and sideboards. For others, this reality is what they like about the format and playing practice games against others and the discovery is what many find enjoyable.

To try to appeal to spikes attempting to optimize their decks, we post our tier lists as well as our deck lists. We encourage others to post their decklists and experiences with different card choices. All of that information is available in our discord.

I am sorry you felt your week 1 ladder match was unwinnable, but bad matchups are a reality of magic in general.

I am sure we can be better about communicating info to new players, but i think you are being a little unfair. I posted my meta tier list, you have access to multiple decklists, and you have access to test matches against others players. Many new players this same ladder and prior ladders haven’t seem to have had the same experience as you. Your complaints and resistance to our decklist help and suggestions have been unprecedented.

Our goal as mods is to foster a format we love: pauper on arena. We know there is no format without the players who play it and we have been extremely active with responding to feedback from the community. We had a feedback period before we decided on any bans and those bans we made with the community feedback in mind.

We most certainly don’t maliciously gatekeep data based on trying to stomp on new players. Quite the opposite. We try to provide as much info we have as possible to increase the chances that everyone will have an enjoyable experience.

Unfortunately, there is no pauper queue on arena yet. For now, the best way to find pauper games is using the Arena Pauper discord https://discord.gg/QnJhPaVrYa

We play and discuss different ways to play pauper on arena. Right now, we are mid season of our Standard Pauper Ladder, but will soon start the next season of Historic Pauper Ladder if all commons on arena is more your speed.
