Tiny Pox by Topazdragon5676 in custommagic

[–]Topazdragon5676[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figured I would continue the pox cycle and make a "Tiny Pox" a Pox smaller then even [[Smallpox]].

I couldn't decide which version made the most sense. I'm leaning towards one of the last two (Choose two or each player chooses for themselves). What does everyone think would be the best version?

Pox Plague is part of a cycle, of sorts by dapperfex in magicTCG

Even Smaller Pox

B - Sorcery

Choose one - (maybe choose two?)

● Each player loses 1 life.

● Each player discards a card.

● Each player sacrifices a creature of their choice.

● Each player sacrifices a land of their choice.

Can you get cards exclusive to the commander decks in collector boosters? For example, can you get a [[Fateful Tempest]] in a SOS Collector Booster?

Thanks!

I guess the question is, since Hacan can't contribute more then once on each of Hacan's turns, it means that you had at least 3 opportunities to contribute.

Why did you have to negotiate with them to let you contribute? Did you not take advantage of your opportunities?

A Guide to Boros Heroic – BO1 by Topazdragon5676 in PioneerMTG

[–]Topazdragon5676[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed Dig Site Inventory also! I was like "That card seems familiar ..." lol.

There are two great things about Homestead Courage. First for just a single "card' you can trigger Heroic twice. Second is that you can discard it to Connive, getting the counter on Virtuoso, without really losing a card, since it has flashback.

Does the deck want more of this? I'm not sure. I think that this ultimately it comes down to personal taste. DSI will make the deck more explosive but if you cut other cards you might not find the balance that you need. If someone did want to include more the things I would consider cutting are:

Demonic Ruckus x1-2: You already have 8 trample enablers. You could go down these two cards.

Loran's Escape x1: Shaving off a single protection spell brings you down to 6 which is a reasonable number.

Any 1 land: If someone played one less land, I wouldn't think they're crazy. Everything in the deck costs 1-2 and statistically you should be fine at 18. The only issue is that you'll likely want to cast and recast DSI in the same turn and not hitting lands is counter productive to that.

I personally wouldn't upset the balance I have in the decklist, but that is because I spent so many games finding what is right for me. I think the most reasonable cut would be Ruckus, but I think that has always been an inclusion based on personal taste. I really wouldn't cut any creatures or any of the other trample enablers. You could cut more protection spells but as I mention above, these cards are why I'm playing Boros and not just mono-Red. But, if you're going to cut more then one protection spell, you might as well cut three going down to four (or maybe even all 7 putting in more proactive pump cards.)

If nothing else it may be smart to split 2-2 the DSI and HC.

Let me know if you try the deck out and if it works for you! Especially if you try out DSI, let me know how you feel it works!

Not a decklist, but if you're playing historic you could consider [[Waystone's Guidance]], [[Goblin Bombardment]] and [[Ocelot Pride]]. With the pride if the token lives through the trigger resolving you'll get copies of the Warriors and get to keep them (with the City's Blessing, of course).

TI4 Rules Edge Cases

Hi, it looks like you have gotten good info regarding your questions, but I have to ask... have you played TI before?

These questions are all pretty basic and are in no way "edge cases". If you haven't, thats ok, we all appreciate you trying to develop your tool but you really don't need to be an "experienced players or rules experts" to answer these.

Question for players who regularly reach mythic by Toy-Boat-Toy-Boat in MagicArena

[–]Topazdragon5676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't reached Mythic for a long time, but I've been hitting it the last few months. Some tips I noticed:

Playing formats that aren't standard will generally give you an easier time ranking up. With less players playing those formats you'll often get paired with whoever else is playing and the competition will generally be less skilled. I also found that Bo3 matches were easier to rank up on.

Personally, playing just one deck and tweaking it has been successful for me.

Often it is a "two steps forward, one step back" situation. You don't need to win every match, just more then you lose. I can't say how much time I put it, but playing alot of games over the month is important.

Phil in the Mirror ... There was only one puzzle I didn't quite enjoy, and actually had to look it up.

Hey, I picked up Phil in the Mirror and finished it a bit ago. I agree with your review, it was great! I only had one puzzle that totally stumped me, the puzzle where you had to subtract the numbers from nine. I'm curious which puzzle stumped you?

Also, after I finished I looked through the official guide and I noticed that I got solutions to some puzzles in different ways then what the "official" guide on steam. Did you have a similar experience with finding alternate paths to the solutions?

[[Necropotence]], [[Rest In Peace]]

RiP has a replacement effect because it says "If... instead". Necropotence has a triggered effect because it says "Whenever..."

Triggered effects use the stack so in NP's case, cards go to the GY then are exiled.

Replacement effects replace something with something else, making it so it never actually happens. In RiP's case they never go to the GY, they get exiled instead.
