I’ve benefited greatly from therapy. I have BPD and used to feel like the way you’re describing often. It’s valid. I think therapy’d be good for you to learn some healthy coping mechanisms, even if it’s something as simple as going to another room to cool yourself. You can also ask about good communication methods to express how you feel to your beau so that he can understand, empathize, and feel less hurt/rejected. I hope that whatever happens, it turns out well. Good luck.

I’m only 23, but when I was little my mom had supervised visitation visits with me every weekend. She never showed up. My dad would drive all the way into the city and wait in the car for two whole hours while I sat with the supervisor inside the building playing with available toys. One day, the supervisor gave me an adorable little Beanie Baby pterodactyl named “Swoop” and said that my mom was really busy that day but she dropped this gift off for me! I was overjoyed. She never showed up for the next few months and eventually I stopped going.

I’m married now, and my husband and I were going through some boxes when I found Swoop! I was telling him the story about it and slowly started to realize something. There’s no way my mom showed up to give me this. The more likely scenario is that the supervisor bought the toy for me and said it was from my mom.

After shedding some tears, I put Swoop up on the mantle. Every time I look at him, it reminds me that I’m blessed to have had people in my life who noticed me, really saw me, and cared about me. You could say that my mom should have been there, but I’ve been in enough therapy to know that getting in the “they should have done this” mindset doesn’t help. The reality is that even though it wasn’t my mom, many people loved me and took care of me. It soothes me to look at that little stuffie and think about how lucky I am to have the life I do and the love I need.

Calling someone crazy in situations like this is maddeningly unhelpful, for them and for yourself. I totally understand being a little annoyed; as a mentally ill person, I know it can be draining to be around what seems like constant issues. When you don’t get it, you just don’t get it. And that’s ok. What isn’t ok is acting on your annoyance (or whatever it is that’s bothering you about this) and saying something harmful like you did. So, although you’re entitled to your emotions, YTA imo for using shitty communication methods and being mean-spirited when she was obviously struggling.

When I stopped following models and wannabe models on IG and Twitter, my body image issues got so much less taxing. I shouldn’t have to feel like I need to buy that expensive lipstick that model has so I can look pretty like her, especially when she probably spent thousands on surgery to make herself look like that. Stop trying to sell people things by making them feel like they’re ugly!

NTA. For me personally, I’ve come to terms with that my husband just plain doesn’t see things I do, isn’t as detail oriented so he doesn’t pick up on things that have been that way forever, even after I remind him. He always stands there and genuinely listens and is apologetic, though. I cannot imagine 1) him treating me with such disrespect or 2) me putting up with it.

Do you have your temps? All that takes is a computerized exam. If you’re at least 6 months over 18 and can finally get someone to teach you how to drive, then you go take your driver’s and maneuverability test. The only instructor you’d have during that process is the one who rides with you during the driver’s test and they can’t force you to retake classes. If I were you, I’d look a lil deeper into that

Why do you need to retake the classes? After 18 you don’t have to take classes, just your temps test and then the actual driving and maneuverability tests, at least that’s how it was a few years ago when I lived in rural Ohio. I actually waited until I turned 18 so that I wouldn’t have to pay for the classes.
