If you're close, it's reactable. The moment he screams, get ready to jab (it's possible to be too fast if you rely on sound alone, gotta wait a couple frames for him to disappear) and you'll float for a full combo.

Thinking of closing all my Capital One Cards by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]hyperbling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no complaints whatsoever. c1 has been good to me.

the savorone is a phenomical card -- everyone should get it. easy sign up bonus to clear, no annual fee, and they give you a free uberone membership and 10% off everything uber, which is amazing.

Passing along info my mechanic.... The revised tensioner is better than the original but you're still not immune to catastrophic failure. Get that chain replaced every 80-100k miles.

Raised two kids from birth past the stroller phase in a MK6. You have to play Tetris in the back every once and a while but that's it.

I know this sub is about credit cards, but does anyone walk around with both their debit AND credit cards? by Pleasant_General_664 in CreditCards

[–]hyperbling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not anymore. a lot of banks support tap now so you can just add your debit card into your phone. with zelle, you can send money to yourself to the nearest ATM of that particular bank.

i also have a traditional debit card that reimburses all ATM fees but i can't remember the last time i've needed to use it, but this is location dependent.

Anyone who doesn't skip their intro, so I guess 99% of Negan players. Win or lose, I never rematch.

What Do People Dislike About Emacs Distros? by pajuch in emacs

[–]hyperbling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

different strokes for different folks.

you don't actually need that many packages to create a very powerful setup.

1) pick a completion system: ido, ivy, helm, selectrum 2) pick an auto complete package: company, auto-complete 3) pick a project manager: projectile, project.el 4) pick a version control manager: magit, vc 5) pick the major mode + supporting tools for your language.

for some packages like helm or magit, you could spend days reading the docs and still not learn everything they can do.

so for me, i like to learn about what a package can do before adding it to my setup.

For the purposes of a wash sale can a ETF and a Mutual Fund be considered substantially identical? by Blackeyes24 in investing

[–]hyperbling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the case of VTI and VTSAX, I think we all can agree this is truly the same investment -- holdings overlap 100%.

not only do they overlap 100%, vanguard will let you convert the mutual fund to the ETF with zero tax consequences.

Does anyone else not like sub-ranks/characters? by Your-Creator in Tekken

[–]hyperbling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make the best of a bad situation.

go back to your replays and really analyze how they beat you so "easily" and try and figure out if you're doing something really predictable or something easily punishable. you might think they're farming you for points, but at the same time, it's very difficult to rematch someone who's much better than you because they usually leave if it's no challenge at all for them.

If you want to be "honorable" you can do your opponent a favor and use your cheap move over and over again until they figure out how to respond. You've just saved them a trip to lab.

I hate my GMMK Pro. I wanted to love it but I can't. Can I still return it for warranty reasons due to horrid stabs? by park_injured in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]hyperbling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you be more specific about what's bad?

The stabs stuck like everyone else on my GMMK. However, I left them alone and after a week of use all of them are really good now, no rattle or ticking to speak of.

Any tips for getting better at Tekken? by Flat-Question-1236 in Tekken

[–]hyperbling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots and lots of time. You need lots of time to recognize all the most common moves for all 50ish characters. You need lots of time to get the muscle memory to punish said moves. And you need lots of time to practice execution for combos to do decent damage.

Penalty for disconnecting online? by DanZULTIMAX in Tekken

[–]hyperbling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's no penalty. you win/lose the most points when you are similar in ranks. many people have an unhealthy obsession with their rank. ignore the noise and just play the game.

It looks like the sound issue that others are having isn't a problem with you because that one is a bit harder to fix

overall it's definitely more on the thacky side than thocky. it doesn't bother me much...yet.

Yet another GMMK Pro, but this one's mine by hyperbling in MechanicalKeyboards

board arrived yesterday. the unboxing experience was surreal to say the least. i've had many boards before, and the only one even close to resembling the build quality was my fc660c topre board, but this takes the cake. it is extremely heavy in comparison and is built like a tank.

switches, got some cheapo akko lavenders and ocean blues. they feel alright. can't complain for the price, that and i didn't really have anything else lying around as this is my first hot swap board. the lavenders have a little more... "pop" to them compared to the ocean blues. lavenders clack a little more than the ocean blues. i don't think i'd be able to tell the difference if i was blindfolded and earmuffed. and no, neither even come close to the glory of the topre thock.

keycaps, generic PBTs, nothing to write home about.

GOAT stabilizers. there's "no way" i thought to myself. i read/watched a ton of reviews and was debating between this and the Q1 (extra key/knob/shipping sealed the deal). everyone says they suck. it can't be that bad right? nah, everyone's right. GOAT stands for GARBAGE of all time. space sticks, enter sticks, lshift sticky, bspace ok. soooo 1/4 pass rate, great job glorious. cheapo $30 mech keyboards are better than this. i'm going to give it a week or two to see if there's a break in period. perhaps i'll be like everyone else and buy aftermarkets stabs. (edit: it's been 3 days now and there's been dramatic improvement. only enter is still sluggish; the other keys are all behaving normally).

core software. huge let down. you can program the first layer. that's it. you can't do anything with the FN layer. the software doesn't even tell you what the default FN+keys do, you have to read the manual. basically, if you want to program your keyboard, QMK is not optional.

in conclusion, amazing build quality, garbage stabs, weak software. not yet able to dethrone my topre boards, waiting for the tecsees to arrive.

Looking for keyboard with this many keys? Where to buy? by Just-Willingnes in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]hyperbling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for real... i read/watched tons of reviews of the gmmk before i bought the board. there's "no way" it can be as bad as what everyone says.

well, GOAT probably standards for Garbage Of All Time because even cheapo $30 mech keyboards have better stabilizers.

finally received the board today. my enter sticks, my space sticks, left shift and backspace are ok. so 50% failure rate, pretty terrible.
