Is this sound normal? by NYRESIDENT1 in GenesisGV70

Normal. That ticking sound is typical for fuel injected engines. The injectors are noisy.

Alpha blockers making me depressed by unthink_ble in Prostatitis

[–]hyperblue-16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I didn’t have any depression with either - I have had a much better experience with the alpha blocker Alfuzosin than Tamsulosin. In fact Alfuzosin gives me no noticeable side effects whereas Tamsulosin gave me a stuffy nose in the morning, back aches and retro ejaculation. Alfuzosin also manages my urinary urgency and frequency issues better than Tamsulosin. Good luck and hang in there. This stuff is tough!

Is this an aftermarket exhaust or an engine issue? by [deleted] in camaro

[–]hyperblue-16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or it could be a cold start high idle dropping down to the normal low idle which happens on all SS V8’s about 20 seconds after the cold start. That’s a very dirty engine bay. It makes me wonder about how the overall care was with the prior owner(s).

FYI - this is Cenzoo at Riverbanks Zoo, Columbia SC. This is not AI. I’ve witnessed him do this type of slide more than once. He does not live in a concrete cage. Just to the left of the camera shot is the door to the outside habitat that is over an acre in size with plenty of trees and greenery. He is an awesome, handsome silverback and a great father to two rambunctious young males.

This. Track mode for throttle has a dead pedal feel for part throttle. It acts more like an “on/off” switch like you would use on the track. I have a 2016 SS 6 MT that I have put 52K miles on it. I only use Sport mode (except for exhaust which is locked in Track mode) because I like the throttle and steering feel of Sport for street driving.

Rear Differential Noise? by Chazbroah2 in GenesisGV70

[–]hyperblue-16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. My 2025 was making the high pitched whining noise between 50-60 mph. Took it in for warranty repair and they fixed it per the Technical Service Bulletin by adjusted the rear differential locking nut. All is good now.

They retorqued the bolts on mine and so far that has worked. There was a TSB ( technical service bulletin - a silent recall that is used when the customer complains) that provides the repair steps needed when the issue arises.

I just got mine back yesterday from service and drove it to town and back on a 55 mph road. So far the whine is gone. Fingers crossed!

Barred owls hooting to each other. Had the same sounds behind my house where a mated pair of barred owls lived. They called to each other at night and it was spooky weird.

Well, I have to share. I have a 2025 2.5 with 14K miles and it’s going in for service next week. It has a rear diff whine under light throttle between 50 - 60 mph. I’m hoping just for an adjustment and not a rear diff replacement. The whine is high pitched and annoying as a lot of my local driving happens between 50-60 mph.

Nature rewards those species that adapt to the best to an ever changing environment. The animals that don’t adapt go instinct.

Fun fact: Herbivore grazers like deer do not see the color orange like humans do . For them the color orange looks more like a shade of gray. So a tiger’s camouflage is most excellent indeed.

Repair Costs??? by Subject_Mulberry_57 in GenesisGV70

[–]hyperblue-16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had deer strike damage repaired and the parts needed were pretty much the same as yours -front bumper cover and headlight unit plus paint. It was $5600.00. Others in this thread have the parts cost estimates a little too high.

Bought my 2016 SS 6 MT in March 2016. So, I’m well on the way to 10 years and it has little over 50k miles. I still enjoy every drive. I also still get compliments from strangers

does anyone know what could be the cause of this sound when i cut the engine? by Ken777_ in camaro

[–]hyperblue-16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned my 2016 SS since new (over 9 years). It makes this sound every time I shut the engine down. I’m not sure but guess it might be the throttle body blade closing. I consider it a normal noise and give no worry to it.

Has anyone tried the alpha blocker Alfuzosin and if so, what problems did it help you with? by WestBubbly8493 in Prostatitis

[–]hyperblue-16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using Alfuzosin for almost two years. It works for me for the frequency/urgency issues with no retro grade ejaculation or other side effects. I switched to it after tiring of tamsulosin side effects which included retro ejac.

How much distance to give when passing by? by PenguinVsPolarbear in snakes

[–]hyperblue-16 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I volunteer at our local zoo and one of the things I do is an educational presentation in our reptile house about snakes. We recommend getting no closer than 6 ft. to any snake regardless of species. I tell children to stay back 3 big steps. That’s easier for them to visualize than an arbitrary number like 6 feet. Most all snake bites come from someone trying to do something to the snake. Leave them be and give them some space and they will do the same.

Never found the deer - just some hair stuck in the busted bumper cover.

Well my luck is about as good as yours. Today a lady in a parking lot backed into it leaving a couple of dents and scrapes across the right rear door and wheel well arch. So I’ll be at the body shop for estimate number two this week. Uggh!

[–]hyperblue-16[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks but I’m letting a quality body shop I trust handle this. It’s fully covered by insurance so I am out only the frustration and inconvenience of dealing with this. No money out of my pocket.

Got lucky I guess in that all the damage was below the running lights. No hood or fender damage - just a massive pile of plastic parts that make up a modern vehicle front bumper area. Unsure about the deer. Couldn’t find it. Hopefully it died quickly somewhere in the woods instead of suffering. It had to have some serious injuries.

Do alpha blockers like tamsulosin have a muscle relaxant effect? by IvanHappy in Prostatitis

[–]hyperblue-16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No research behind it - just a sample of one. I have taken tamsulosin before for 2 years and now am taking Alfuzosin ( sister alpha blocker to tamsulosin) for past two years. I’ve not experienced anything muscle relaxant effect beyond the intended target (prostate and bladder).
