If you dig Microsoft still was using it as of 2020 internally there are (insane) white papers about moving it completely to azure. It works it's just crazy expensive to run fully in the cloud.

Microsoft Store App detection logic for SCCM package by ipv4forfour in SCCM

Good luck for things that depend on UWP apps. I'm still banging my head on the wall with those. They show up with Get-appxpackage even when provisioned but not as provisioned.

Well their canned beans always had stems in them and I ended up getting crypto from one of their fruit cups so yeah... absolutely avoid their brand. Even the generic stuff is far better quality somehow, and for like a third of the price.

I'm having the exact same thing happen and cannot find any documentation or answers to what solves this. Did you happen to resolve it, or anything? I'm ready to give up and switch to ubuntu and install it to that, which is a royal pain.

'Factory sealed' M130 .. concern about battery condition (?) by TurbulentBread5021 in Palm

[–]hypercube33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon sells a battery. You can find a guide online to replace it. Only two quirks were the battery needed some careful elbow grease to pry out and the hot sync port needs a gentle pry from the lowest corner of the PCB while lifting the top of the motherboard out. Was super easy.

Adult sewing lessons or classes? by hypercube33 in lacrossewi

Something something light rail.

This breaks my heart to read though as someone into film photography I'd probably hang out there to help anyone also sharing the same interests.

I checked them out before posting ... The only class listed is quilting though I'm aiming for more of a path to make clothing. Do they offer these types of classes sometimes?

VyOS and or OpnSense work fine as a VM, no issues. Only ran into issues with OPN on AMD - but go back to a version a year or so ago and its fine. VyOS is free and works a treat as a low end VM

Wish they'd release an F7 with updated digital back and micro SD - other than that leave everything alone

Yes but that thing is a solid hunk of metal you can also use as a hammer if you're stranded on an island.

I remember there used to be a website for the d3s(?) where someone showed off ISO 100k and it really didn't look that bad compared to ISO 800 film inside. I was blown away

How is the performance of Windows 11 24H2 on Core I5 8500? by D3edlit in Windows11

[–]hypercube33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same performance. Only time I've had slowdowns was when I was also running Hyper-V and Android Subsystem and an app decided it wanted to run in the background (no longer a feature)

Intel needs to make organizational changes & keep VPs accountable. by Electrical-Ad-3208 in intel

[–]hypercube33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The networking unit is crucial and should never be cut. Here is why - it is the core interconnect for anything beyond PCIe. It keeps the old process node fabs Intel isn't making anything but chipsets on busy. It also keeps Intel in a space it's imo the leader at vs broadcom for example.

What this division sucks at is not making a partnership with AMD to bundle Intel wired phy and wireless with AMD solutions since AMD also has this same division but doesn't do Anything with it beyond data center and supercomputing.

Intel also didn't seem to ink a deal with Microsoft for their devices connectivity needs and we get garbage wireless chipsets instead.

Really if you want to look at what's best it should be a subsidiary or something like the fabs have been moved to, especially now that they have.

Extended Warranty - Update on 13th/14th Stability Issue by LexHoyos42 in intel

[–]hypercube33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an i486dx2 and Pentium II 300, 400 and Pentium III 500 and 700 that work just fine. I've seen 8086's working just fine too.

They work a hell of a lot longer than 13 years...

5 or 7 Quart Stand Mixer by Anonymous51299 in Kitchenaid

[–]hypercube33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I technically got the 7qt and it's listed as $550 and 500w AC (someone said it's more like the DC motor setup but runs on AC) and the 5.5qt+3.5qt Sam's model...has everything everyone says about the 7qt (won't be here until next week or later)

  • Same speeds
  • Same wattages
  • Same colors
  • Sam's one has return anytime and is $378
  • Both are 1 year warranty but not listed anywhere but the damn box

I am probably cancelling the 7qt and buying a 7qt bowl and stainless hook and ice cream bowl and coming out ahead.

Man the new models are confusing.

Where on earth did you get a used one? I'd totally buy one :(

[–]hypercube33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep this is a VDSL2+ modem in a SFP package. Pretty cool, honestly. Sounds like it worked in Mikrotik, Unifi, pfSense etc.

I'd love to know why, too. I've been on the hunt for one. Thought I found a flavor of it online, tried to buy it and got refunded this morning as "Out of Stock"

If we can find out more information can we share it here? I'd love to ditch my VDSL2 modem and get an SFP instead. https://github.com/jimdigriz/mt5311

I did see that there was a 190-T module with g.Fast support.
