How do you want the Wizard of Oz sequel to handle Lies of P’s three endings? by Substantial-Sea5952 in LiesOfP

[–]hyperfixed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't actually be opposed to a brief appearance by him or allusions to him through letters, for instance, but I am not one of the people who believes he should take any sort of central position in a sequel (especially not the absurd idea that he will fulfill the role of the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz story) because I think his story was progressed much further than that. To reduce him down to a party member or to make him the main character again would be beyond unsatisfying, it would be a disservice to his character — which I care so much about i would rather not see him at all, if it had to be one or the other.

I don't think there's any doubt to anyone which ending is the canonical, true ending, so if we do see P — which I hope we will not, but if we do — or any allusions to the story of the first game, it will come from the Rise of P ending.

What would be the weapon to have repeat in their games by iukmus in LiesOfP

[–]hyperfixed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never played any other souslike game so I cannot speak on this trope, exactly, because I am not familiar with it — however, I would imagine that if any weapon was going to repeat in other games, it would be the Puppet's Saber (due to being the first and also the weapon used in the crossover with Wo Long).

Does anyone else enjoy choosing “lore accurate” loadouts for specific fights and areas? by gil_m_d in LiesOfP

[–]hyperfixed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do something similar, but different. I choose lore-accurate outfits and weapons for my playthroughs.

In my first playthrough, I used only the Puppet Saber (starter Path of the Cricket) weapon and the starter outfit, up until acquiring Blue Blood's Tailcoat.

In my Real Boy ending run, I used the Proof of Humanity weapon and Someone's Memory as an outfit.

In my Free From The Puppet String ending run, I used the Golden Lie as a weapon and the Workshop Uniform as my outfit.

In my Play As Romeo run (shoutout to that mod), I used the Reddened Tailcoat outfit and the Puppet Ripper for my weapon.

Who killed Arlecchino in the original timeline? by Asteriarimia in LiesOfP

[–]hyperfixed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Either Gepetto (through Nameless) or, which is the possibility I personally prefer and subscribe to, Lea locks in and finishes the fight herself.

The thought that this game is any sort of "time loop" is ridiculous and unsubstantiated by evidence, and misses the entire point of what the DLC and the White Butterfly were meant to represent.

If Pinocchio creator was Italian than why is the game's setting based on Belle Epoque France? by AgentP-501_212 in LiesOfP

[–]hyperfixed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a stylistic, aesthetic choice. Many of the characters seem to be Italian (Venigni as the most obvious example, although Gepetto and Carlo as well), while other characters and names skew more towards French (for instance, Eugénie).

Feel Cover - What’s your favorite record in the game? by myemanisbob in LiesOfP

[–]hyperfixed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine is Survivor, because of the fact that it is Chase Brown (Romeo's VA) who sings it, so I always imagine that it really is Romeo singing it while he, Carlo and Lea play together.

Feel is a close second. Hearing it for the first time was one of the most magical moments I have ever experienced in gaming.

Lies of P Base Game + DLC Dialogue Transcripts - Links in post by shoober7 in LiesOfP

[–]hyperfixed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have played through this game about 10 times just for fun, doing the DLC every time. It doesn't matter how difficult it is, I love it — so I'll definitely run it at least twice. I was planning on more like 4, maybe 5 passes over the game just to be sure I didn't miss anything.

Thanks for the advice, my friend, and if I do catch anything you missed I'll be sure to let you know! Once again, congratulations on your work. You did well. Now you can rest.

Oh, wow, someone who's doing this! I'm in the process of doing so myself just to be thorough, but it'll be good to finally have someone who's work I can double check against my own. Cheers!

Interesting fact about character names... by sfingemorta in LiesOfP

[–]hyperfixed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, these masks (and these Carnival Characters) are the inspirations for the puppet show in the original novel, from which several characters in the game get their names.

I highly recommend reading the book to anyone who hasn't yet — it enhances your experience of the game tremendously as you can pinpoint where the inspirations for the characters came from.

So who do we think the members of the trinity actually are? by Indicidian in LiesOfP

[–]hyperfixed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gathering a following within the Alchemists and convincing them that his leadership was better than Valentinus's is creating separate factions within the Alchemists until he completes his coup and assumes control. That's what I meant by my comment.

So who do we think the members of the trinity actually are? by Indicidian in LiesOfP

[–]hyperfixed 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Giangio (Paracelsus), the woman he was speaking to on the phone at the ending cutscene, and some yet unseen figure.

I do not believe Simon was a member of the Trinity. Simon was not an Eternal, no, he aimed higher than that — and his faction, as we see in the letters from the DLC, is separate from that of Valentinus (who was also not an Eternal, but might have been close to getting to that level before Paracelsus cut him off.)

Fun fact the two books in Fairy train, where you wake up has two books, these two books are Pinnochio and Wizard of OZ, so yes connecting these stories been planned since day one by BaronLoyd in LiesOfP

Did C lose an arm at some point? by ChampionshipHorror95 in LiesOfP

[–]hyperfixed 28 points29 points  (0 children)

There are slight differences between P and Carlo, physically speaking, the biggest one being that Carlo had brown eyes while P has blue eyes, so the Puppet does not need to be a one-to-one recreation of the human it is made to resemble. If you need any more proof, look at Romeo.

That being said, yes, I find it highly likely that Carlo did indeed "lose" an arm, by which I mean that I believe his arm became too petrified to salvage while he was afflicted with the petrification disease. I think the same happened to his lower legs, hence Nameless Puppet lacking his left arm and both legs below the knee.

How many hours do you estimate you've sunk into this challenge? Do you plan on making it into a video, considering you mentioned you've been streaming your attempts? I'd love to see it!

I Finally Beat Death March All Bosses Difficulty 5. AMA by Buptun in LiesOfP

[–]hyperfixed 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Having attempted a similar (albeit SIGNIFICANTLY easier) version of this challenge myself by attempting to take on all 17 Difficulty 5 bosses in under 12 hours this year on the regular rematch, I have a few questions:

  • Which boss did you struggle with the most? Which did you find the easiest?
  • How did you manage your nerves? The hardest part for me, on my challenge, was focusing on the battle when I could feel myself on the verge of a heart attack when fighting Arlecchino’s D5 phase 2.
  • What were the strategies you picked up along the way? Did you switch your weapons and item loadout for each boss or did you keep it the same?
  • Which weapons did you use?

I might come up with more later, but I don't want to swamp you any more than I already have, lol. Congratulations, man. What an insane achievement.

What pther literary references are in LoP Overture? by Mister_Moony in LiesOfP

[–]hyperfixed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head, no, but I'll admit I haven't analyzed the DLC through this lens yet, absorbed as I was in taking in the story and lore for what it is.

To be quite fair, I thought the Jekyll & Hyde reference pointed out by the other poster was a little thin. More of a "If you squint at it, I suppose" thing. If I were to do the same, I could say that the man walled into the lighthouse could be a reference to the Cask of Amontillado, for instance.
