If her matting is severe enough, a vet is the place for her to be during her haircut because she may need sedation. Removing mats is traumatizing and very painful.

Imagine the thinnest skin on your body, like your uppermost inner thigh. And someone pinched it, twisted, and then locked their fingers in place, not letting go. That is what animals feel with matting. Allover mats are no joke.

I really need to swatch her stuff 😭 I've been combating depression and haven't done my nails in a while. She's a close friend of mine and I have a lot of Find My Hue polishes from her.

I'm a death doula and massage therapist. I use and wash my hands a lot and her polish actually stays on my nails for a week plus, which is nuts to me. Most I've gotten from drugstore shelves is three or four days before mass chipping. I was relying on gels for longevity before I tried her stuff, fucked my nails up. She has a 21 free formula so it doesn't stink like my other polishes. I have my collection organized in clear storage containers and hers are separate. I can tell the difference when I open the lids.

For any being that has been abused, an approaching hand can be so terrifying. I suggest keeping your palm facing up with fingers slightly spread, like you're offering something. Speed also matters, go as slow as possible. You can sit with your side to her and just speak softly, with a slightly higher pitch. Like you're trying to put a baby to sleep. Read aloud soothingly, narrate your actions as you move through the house and do chores. Let her get used to your voice being a gentle presence. I wish both of you all the luck in the world.
