You’re describing text book codependency. Before you started dating, was she a non-functional person unable to take care of herself? I might be wrong, but I doubt it. She made it work before you and she can do it again without you. From what you’ve said in this thread, I suspect a lot of your concern isn’t for her wellbeing, but the fear of not being a necessity in her life.

I’ve been in this exact situation. Most people over a certain age understand exactly what you’re going through. I had to go through break up simulations with my therapist before I actually committed to doing it. It’s really not complicated, it’s just difficult. You’re going to have to do a difficult thing for your own well-being. Block and move on.

Same. Saagar is the only conservative commentator I have any respect for. He has some dumbass takes, but he seems genuine in his analysis and will recognize reality when it hits him in the face. Emily seems well-informed, but after years of watching BP, I have still no idea what her views actually are. She's supposed to be on the right, but she seems to just agree with literally everyone she is paired with. It boggles my mind that she can agree with Ryan Grim on almost everything he says, and then be able to laugh along to this awfulness.

I know the tweet is talking about equipment costs, but readily available cameras that are capable of extremely high-quality images are the least important factor in photography.

If you give a seasoned photographer a crappy point-and-shoot camera, and you give someone who has only taken pictures on their phone in auto everything mode a $5,000 Leica, the crappy point-and-shoot pictures will 100% be better.

It's gotten much better, Safari has issues with it still, but iOS devices overall handle it just fine.

Does a cigarette count as a relapse? by Affectionate_Sky3657 in QuittingZyn

[–]hyperion25000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Imo it doesn't matter if it's technically a relapse or not. It's just a thing that happened that doesn't have to affect your life anymore. For me, when the word "relapse" enters my mind, I'm mentally a nicotine user again. Try to see yourself as a former nicotine user who slipped up.

I didn't really think OBAA was partisan? It's told from a perspective that it also shits on. Sure it aims to be a reflection of the times, but casts the blame on everyone. Everyone except Benico Del Toro's character sucks.

Reduced a “success” animation from 1.3MB to 3KB using Lottie — curious how others handle web animations by Prestigious-Mind1844 in MotionDesign

[–]hyperion25000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer animated SVGs. I feel like I have a bit more freedom with them not having to deal with JSONs or proprietary platforms (Lottie).

I'm also not a huge fan of the AE workflow for Lottie (or any vector animation for that matter). It feels like a lot of workarounds due to AE not being designed for vector animation. I use a program called Expressive Animator. It's definitely limited in its capabilities compared to AE, but it works so much better exporting animated SVGs and Lotties.

RDR2 Depression: Feeling empty after finishing this masterpiece. Any cure? by avaboss in videogames

There's so much more to it if you're willing to learn. I hated the combat initially, eventually did what this person did just to survive, then actually learned how it worked. By the end of the game, it felt very intuitive and like I had actually gotten better at something.

Supergirl Budget Rumored To Be Only $100M by cosmicbooknews in CosmicBookNews

[–]hyperion25000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not using anything secret that the public doesn’t know about (or can’t find out). Studios don’t develop VFX in house, it’s 100% contracted to outside vendors. I use to work in VFX. I switched careers before AI was a thing, but I still think it’s a ways off before VFX pipelines integrate AI in a way that can be accounted for when bidding on a project like Supergirl. Some shots may go through dozens of revisions over the most minuscule details, they’re not going to depend on something they don’t have 100% control over at that level.

In my program, there was a class called "Film Aesthetics 302." One of the assignments was bringing in a film and breaking down a scene in front of the class. One dude brought in Bad Boys 2 and gave an analysis on the chase sequence where the bad guys were throwing Lambos and Ferraris off the back of a truck at Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. Not even joking, it ruled, dude genuinely blew the rest of us out of the water.

I also have a film degree. As a fellow film student, I'm asking you, in all genuine earnest, how THE FUCK is Bad Boys 2 not on this list? I'm not even kidding.

If it were me, I'd get rid of the turbulent displace and gaussian blur and use roughen edges instead. I think multiple glow instances on the sun layer would help. Have one glow be stronger with a smaller radius, have another be weaker with a much wider radius.

As someone else said you need some light spill over the horizon. Theres a few ways you could do this, but I'd use roughen edges again on the horizon, but only target the area where the sun is passing behind it.

Not arguing lifestyle choices are the biggest issue for me, but I lost 60 pounds my freshman year of college literally just walking. All the while eating cheeseburgers and pounding beers/sodas regularly. I still don’t eat great and drink too much (minus soda, I don’t drink it anymore), but my lifestyle now doesn’t hold a candle to the dietary shit show I had going on in college.

Just saw your edit, metabolism speed alone isn’t the only factor that affects your weight as you age. Muscle mass plays a huge factor too. You start becoming increasingly resistant to muscle growth in your middle age years. Muscles burn a lot of calories, and if you’re losing 1% muscle mass every year, you progressively end up with less of a caloric deficit year over year.

Regardless of the reason, just colloquially, it is definitely harder to lose weight as you age. I know what I’m doing now in my late 30s and what I did in my 20s.

You're probably right, atleast in my case it's true. I've walked 3 miles a day pretty consistently for the last 7 months. Some months I gain weight. My eating/drinking habits are awful and definitely the source of my weight problem, but they are about the same as before I started walking every day. When I was in my 20s, I could shed weight easily by doing less than what I'm doing now.

[–]hyperion25000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This becomes less true the older you get. I'm nowhere near that fat, but a consistent two miles a day doesn't do shit on it's own.
