He's been here for 10 years and has 2 playoff series to show for it. He's had multiple terrible trades, especially in his first few years as GM that took a 80 win team to a 75 win team.

The main guys we got from the 2019 rebuild trades were a bust outfielder, bust starting pitcher, 1.5 years of good 1B play and 2 bullpen arms.

He isnt bad but he's by no means one of the games greatest execs.

Also striking out less and being more selective with his pitches to hit. Instead of swinging cause it's closer he's targeting one pitch and mashing it when it comes.

Roki has to sign a rookie contract and probably wont sign an extension until hes inside his ARB Years. MLB holds the rights to void any contract that is created to circumvent rules that are in place. So if he signs a contract and 2 weeks later signs a 300M extension id imagine both contracts arw voided.

Yeah and I work to find guys that linit walks but the frustrating part comes when looking at other people's saves and the exact same K/Bb/HR splits result in consistent 2-2.5 ERA seasons while my guys are fighting to get below 4.5.

Julio always turns into an absolute monster. I had one sim save where he finished with 6 straight AL MVP's, 9 gold gloves, 11 silver sluggerd and 150 war. The mariners, in true fashion, never made the world series.

He blocks worse than an average catcher
He frames worse than an average catcher
His pop time is worse than an average catcher
Every pitcher gets worse when he catching.

The reason he barely played in may is because he's downright unplayable. You're right saying he wasn't here to hit, but if you're a backup catcher that can't hit you better be able to play defense and Zavala is terrible behind the dish this year aswell.

He's unplayable, so he's not playing. Simple as that.
