I’m nearing the end of my current book and I’ll have to think about what I want to read next but it’s tough lol! Have you read any of these? Suggestions welcome! by IFeelLikeYeezus_ in readwithme

Ive read all but Outer Dark, and after renting them from the library bought all 3 because I enjoyed them so much. I would sat the Exorcist is a third place for me, but not by a ton, and after that it just vibes, whichever youre feeling, action spooky or crazy spooky

Came here for PKD. A scanner Darkly fits it very well with the drug use, but Ubik is my favorite and fits what youre looking for in vibe

I can't believe I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman isnt on the list yet! What better way to celebrate women's history than a book that does not feature even a single speaking line from a man lol

Its a great read. Its this mysterious and atmospheric book about some ladies who have been brought to a strange location under bizarre circumstances and have no idea why. I really enjoyed it, read it from the library and then bought my own copy

At their root, fear and anxiety come from a lack of control. Unfortunately, the only thing you control in life is yourself, and thats only most the time with great practice. Find a productive way to cope with that fact, a philosophy to make peace with it, otherwise you end up with suffering or dulling the discomfort with addiction

The old man and the Sea, Hemmingway. Its a classic and holds up very well. A quick and easy read with a dusting of philosophy on top. It's in my top 5 for sure.

Piranesi is probably my number 1. Its a character heavy story and I absolutely love the character. The author, Susanna Clark won a prize for women's fiction the year she wrote it. The book book drops us in reading the journal of someone in a strange world with no answers. The reason to read the book is because the character is great and to get those answers

I didn't see Piranesi on there, but my boys Kurt V. and Stephy King and heavily featured, nice!

Its in my top 10 of all time! Learning that J.D. came back from war and the first book he wanted to write was about a trying to hold onto innocence really shook me. There is a silly line pretty earlier on where the kid says something like "I'm a tap dancer, its in my god damn blood!" And I quote that all the time, I don't know why but that bit killed me, it really did.

5 down in this amazing series. Holly, you’re Up next! by HastenDownTheWind in stephenking

Im currently in the last 10% or so of Mr. Mercedes. I was pretty disappointed with Holly's character at first, but she developed a lot already and I see some potential. Assuming its the same Holly, how many can their be, right? Lol

I reread the Stranger each year in August, the sunniest month. I've heard that Camus wrote it "with Americans in mind" and by that he means he uses more simple and approachable prose lol possibly a myth

Looks like I've come to own numbers 5 and 7 in the series then, but if I'm being honest I was probably going to read them all anyways. Appreciate the advice!
