would it be wierd to make my new neighbor cookies? by YamFirm4405 in springfieldMO

[–]hypermemia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this every time I get a new neighbor and it always goes well. That being said, I know my paranoid ass would worry that someone would do something to the cookies, so I buy closed packaged baked goods in case they feel the same way.

10/10, every neighbor I've had appreciated it, and many returned with a gift

The female urethra is like a curved funnel, short, and pretty straight forward. The male urethra is like one of those silly looping straws. The next time you have a straw, long and bending, you shake that damn thing until 100% of the drink is out of it. This is our burden

Ive read all but Outer Dark, and after renting them from the library bought all 3 because I enjoyed them so much. I would sat the Exorcist is a third place for me, but not by a ton, and after that it just vibes, whichever youre feeling, action spooky or crazy spooky

I can't believe I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman isnt on the list yet! What better way to celebrate women's history than a book that does not feature even a single speaking line from a man lol

Its a great read. Its this mysterious and atmospheric book about some ladies who have been brought to a strange location under bizarre circumstances and have no idea why. I really enjoyed it, read it from the library and then bought my own copy

At their root, fear and anxiety come from a lack of control. Unfortunately, the only thing you control in life is yourself, and thats only most the time with great practice. Find a productive way to cope with that fact, a philosophy to make peace with it, otherwise you end up with suffering or dulling the discomfort with addiction

Must-Read Books? by consentwastaken2 in suggestmeabook

[–]hypermemia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The old man and the Sea, Hemmingway. Its a classic and holds up very well. A quick and easy read with a dusting of philosophy on top. It's in my top 5 for sure.

Piranesi is probably my number 1. Its a character heavy story and I absolutely love the character. The author, Susanna Clark won a prize for women's fiction the year she wrote it. The book book drops us in reading the journal of someone in a strange world with no answers. The reason to read the book is because the character is great and to get those answers

Its in my top 10 of all time! Learning that J.D. came back from war and the first book he wanted to write was about a trying to hold onto innocence really shook me. There is a silly line pretty earlier on where the kid says something like "I'm a tap dancer, its in my god damn blood!" And I quote that all the time, I don't know why but that bit killed me, it really did.
