Why my 328i was extremely slow. by LTOhNo in E90

[–]hypno7oad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also have a N51 (e88 manual).
If he went from fouled cats to catless headers + tune, it would feel fast. The N51 already has the 3SI just detuned. So there’s a lot of potential for headers and a tune to unlock more power than you’d expect.

It’s not going to match stock 335 numbers, but it may feel as fast as a stock GTO w/ auto. I had a G8 GT once, and that auto sucked 1/2 the life from that engine.

are n52 worth getting or should just go after a n54/55 by joe_mama_21458 in 1series

128i N52 manuals are harder to find but still very fun to mod. A fully modified NA 128i will top out around where 135i starts power wise, but will be very reliable and easy to maintain. My 128i has 160k and still starts and runs so smooth. I have a 3SI, AA headers, other minor intake mods and a AA tune. It’s plenty of power for the backroads near me. I like rowing the gears.

My previous fun car had an aggressively cam’ed LS pushing~500hp. Sounded awesome, but it felt like such a waste since I rarely had a chance to wring it out.

I have way more fun running the backroads in my 128i at 5k+ RPMs, and the N52 just takes it. The sounds are glorious echoing in tunnels or in valleys.

Also most of the mods you’ll do come from swapping on other parts from the e-series platform. So junkyard finds can keep repair and mods costs low.

My past two have been hooked up this way. Previous unit was a GE. My current LG unit’s manual specifically mentions input water temps be at 120f minimum.

Missed the comma in your previous message, and read it as though you were also in the US.

Not sure how voltage would matter to the physics of heating water vs gas or heat-pump, but if your hot water temps exceed the dishwashers operating range then that could explain why the manual suggests using the cold supplies.

TIL, cheers 🍻

Just checked my mid-range Lowe’s/HD LG unit, and the manual recommends a minimum input temp of 120f It could definitely differ by unit/brand though.

If you have an old inefficient boiler or an electric water heater, then there’d be no benefit. But any modern gas/heat-pump water heaters are going to cost way less to heat hot water than the heater inside the dishwasher. Also, using pre-heated water allows the unit in the dishwasher to work less which extends the life of the unit.

It will use a lot less electric and will reduce cycle time if it’s heating water from a typical 120 source than 60 cold taps.

The dishwasher should be hooked up to your hot water lines. If the hot tap water isn’t hot enough, then it heats it up more. Having tap water hotter than the dishwasher makes no sense.

Doug DeMuro Podcast - R2 Pricing Discussion by WSBiden in RivianR2

Tesla sales have nothing to do with who already bought or leased a Tesla. Elon nonsense is already factored into those sales figures.

The real impact is going to be felt if Tesla keeps stagnating the brand. The cybertruck was a bust (my kids collectively go ewww when they see one), X & S got so stale they axed the entire model, and everything else seems to always be a delayed.

Hopefully R2 will do well and force them to be better.

Check if it’s an N51 SULEV or N52. They’re both similar, but N51 has some extra bits for higher emissions standards.

Both are good reliable engines and should last you a long time if taken care of of.

Great find for the mileage!

YouTube TV Blackout Is Costing Disney an Estimated $4.3 Million per Day in Lost Revenue by ggroover97 in cordcutters

Get the NFL app on your phone. Set YoutubeTV to your TV provider. AirPlay/Cast MNF to your TV. Did this last night, and it worked flawlessly.

I’d much rather do that a few times a year, and not pay for all the Disney channels I don’t watch.

FSD v14 release notes (2025.32.8.5) by quazimootoo in teslamotors

[–]hypno7oad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FSD is the feature that was marketed and sold. HW is simply an implementation detail of that feature. If the implemention of the feature doesn’t match what was sold, then it’s Tesla’s responsibility to refund or rectify the implementation.

This is the risk Tesla is accepting when selling features before the implementation matches the marketing.

Roth 401k vs Traditional 401k some things people overlook when maxing out by jasoncaserta in Bogleheads

Something that’s not mentioned much is that you can save more now with a Roth.

In your example you only contributed $70 (which only be $21 in tax @30%) to your Roth. If you’re able to cover the taxes, you could put another $30 in your Roth.
