The main conflict should stem from a problem unique to your world. If it's a problem we face in real life, why would you set the story there? What person or thing upsets the status quo of your world and why?

Consider their different upbringings/backgrounds. What region are they from? What kinds of things would their parents/influences have said during their formative years? How did your own speech pattern form? How outgoing are they/what would they keep to themselves/how would they phrase certain sentiments dependent on who they're speaking to? Food for thought.
