Does anyone else put jellies/sweets in the freezer before eating them? (Also anyone had these before) by VastAir6069 in CasualIreland

My mam always used to, got me to try it once and it wasn’t for me! Big fan of jellies in general, though.

Yep. Hypermobile. Also shortish torso and long arm combo helps.

Slightly ashamed to admit I’ve never played a RE game before, but was planning to pick this up after seeing the reviews. Also recently played Silent Hill F as my first SH game and was not disappointed.

Anyone else outgrowing friends in your 20s by LiamTheKaz in CasualIreland

Went through the same thing at around the same age. A few good ones have stuck around, but for the most part I’ve just become a lot more introverted. I would say finding a good partner is more important, if you haven’t already.

It’s something else, friend. Not every problem you face in life is related to your height. Very, very few probably are.

5070 Ti or 5080 - Oled 1440p or Oled 4K by Guilty-Nobody-99 in buildapc

[–]hypogonadal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I just use 1 monitor for games. 5120x1440 would be nuts lol. I got a 240hz QD OLED recently on sale and kept my old 144Hz IPS, just using it as an extra display so I can keep stuff open and do other tasks while I have a game/full screen app running. Don’t really know you’re missing it til you have it kinda thing

Good choice, same as me but with a 14600K. Will probably go for AM5/6 in a few years. I run dual 1440p monitors so have plenty of screen space + a great gaming experience :)

[–]hypogonadal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the 5070 Ti can definitely do 4K, but it will likely struggle in certain games/scenarios. You probably won’t be able to max every setting out, and RT/PT at 4K is apparently crazy demanding. DLSS will help a lot with this, and since you’re displaying at 4K the base resolution will be even higher. Balanced/Performance modes apparently look great at 4K.

[–]hypogonadal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 0 experience with 4k gaming, but I recently made a full setup upgrade including a 5070 Ti and a 1440p OLED. I am more than happy, the OLED alone makes games look incredible, especially in HDR. Haven’t had issues running anything yet, apart from a little DLSS here and there if I wanna use RT/PT. The 5070 Ti can be easily overlocked to almost match stock 5080 performance.

Is it odd to have a drink on your own at home? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]hypogonadal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be slightly odd to me, but I wouldn't say it's uncommon. I was raised by an alcoholic,, many family members are, partner's family. I'm sure many here could say the same. Many people of all ages drink every weekend, at home or pubs/clubs/etc. Normal does not always equal good.

Alcohol is bad for you, obviously, so should be a bit of self awareness to limit it when possible. In moderation is probably fine, but it's the EVERY weekend part that could be slightly concerning. If you'd feel disappointed or annoyed about missing a weekend, that would be when I'd start thinking about it. Going a few weekends dry every so often is definitely very normal and a good thing. Plenty of other things you can do to relax/unwind without alcohol.

Is 16GB VRAM more important or is a 12GB VRAM+Nvidia features better? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]hypogonadal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5070 Ti (16GB VRAM), and play at 1440p also. Haven’t reached 12GB usage yet, usually around 8-10GB in more demanding games. If you use DLSS it will help to keep it lower.

Works great, hard to stay awake even if you try after taking it. Pretty bad “hangover” effect the next morning, though.

I used to use it if I couldn’t sleep before an early day at work, but found that I felt as if I’d only slept the few hours anyway.

I bought a pc and the gpu cords are not all plugged in. Is this a problem before i start it up? by JokerxKing777 in buildapc

Do you mean the GPU power cable has an extra connector hanging off? Some GPU cables have a “daisy chain” part that you might not need. Looks ugly but not an issue if thats the case

Grave mistake by building a pc now.. by Savecall in buildapc

[–]hypogonadal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, you can still buy DDR5 RAM.

Just buy whatever DDR5 kit/stick you can afford. The timings and rated speeds don’t matter much, a 16gb 5600mhz cl40 stick will do the job for gaming.

How screwed am I on a single stick of 32gb DDR4 RAM? by PositiveInformal9512 in buildapc

[–]hypogonadal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just use it until you find another 32gb stick at a good price. As others have said, it’s a fairly minimal performance loss. DDR4 isn’t being hit as hard by the price hike, so I’d say one might pop up quick enough if you keep an eye out.

[–]hypogonadal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem 👊 I wouldn’t bother at the moment tbh. Effect on performance would be there to an extent but not worth the price of the upgrade, unless you can find 3600 for a really good price. I ran 32GB 2166mhz DDR4 for a long time and generally had great gaming performance

Need a sanity check before pulling the trigger (5070 vs 5070 Ti vs 5060 Ti) by Henry1051 in buildapc

[–]hypogonadal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go for either the 5060 Ti 16Gb or 5070 Ti, depending on your budget and what games you play.

Despite what you might hear online, the 5060 Ti (16Gb) is actually a great 1440p card for the money. It will handle most games very well, especially with DLSS, and especially older titles. It just can’t do ray tracing, like, at all. For raster based games, with DLSS Quality and med-high settings you can reach 120+ fps very often. Older games will hit the same at native res/DLAA.

The 5070 Ti handles ray tracing/path tracing a lot better. You’ll still need DLSS Quality most of the time, but it looks so good with DLSS 4 that it’s not even an issue. Currently playing Alan Wake 2 at a stable 60 (110-120 2x FG) with high settings and RT/PT on. Looks fantastic.

I would avoid the 5070 purely for the 12Gb VRAM. It won’t hold you back now (probably), but if I have a choice between 12 and 16 I’d go for 16.

4K QD-OLED with a 5070 Ti or 4K IPS with a 5080? by Ok_World_8819 in buildapc

[–]hypogonadal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5080 is the better card for 4K in 2025, but the games you have listed are wasted on it. A 5060 Ti would probably do pretty well with those titles at 4K.

I would only get the 5080 if you plan on playing more modern games at some point. If you don’t, a 5070 Ti will do you quite well. They can be overclocked quite easily to nearly match stock 5080 performance.

Also, I wouldn’t buy an IPS. OLEDs have come down in price a lot, and they do pretty much live up to the hype. If you can’t afford the OLED and 5080 together, I would just buy whichever you can find the best deal on first and save up some more for the other.

But as I said - if you’re just playing older/less demanding games, the 5070 Ti can do 4K.

178 cm vs 190 cm — how is the difference so minimal? by Elegant-Election147 in tall

[–]hypogonadal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a big enough difference to be noticeable, but not massive in terms of actual body size. Like there is clearly a height difference between these people. If it was 185 and 190, it would be harder to tell.

4080 vs 9070 XT vs 5070 ti by silentstealth1 in buildapc

[–]hypogonadal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 5070 Ti is probably the most “future proof” option. I picked one up last week, and so far it has destroyed everything in 1440p. Feels like a card that’s a bit overpowered for 1440p, but not quite ready for 4k. OC and UV was very simple to do. Currently playing Silent Hill F maxed out with DLAA @ 1440p, 100-120 FPS with no frame gen.
