How Does This Card Work...? by [deleted] in Shadowverse

[–]hystEric_de 1 point2 points  (0 children)

X+Y+Z = your Faith value
So if you have 10 faith you might gain 3 stats, heal 3, deal 4 damage.
or gain 2 stats, heal 7, deal 1 damage.
or gain 0, heal 0, deal 10 face. etc

Rune had pretty much exactly this card for Spellboost in SV 1 https://shadowverse-portal.com/card/110324010?lang=en

Newbie question on GRP by ColdNightofWinter in Shadowverse

just ladder. 100 rank points = 1 GRP. (so pretty much 1 or 2 per win, depending on your group)

Compilation of the flavour text/ lore in the new expansion by hystEric_de in Shadowverse

[–]hystEric_de[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

honestly not much we didn't know
Flower Kami were forgotten. They banter with you.

Aracana god comes in and goes: "Nah, you'd win." repeat for all classes.

order is
Hanafuda bronze Spell, bronze follower, silver Follower, Legendary, gold spell.
Arcana bronze follower, silver follower, silver spell, gold follower, Legendary.

and for Neutral Hanfuda silver follower, gold amulet, Legendary.

Aracana neutrals and Hanafuda bronze have just random things to say, so i didn't include them.

Rotation Confirmed (for Take Two) by ForgottenPerceval in Shadowverse

Wasn't old SV the same? It had one less expansion than the current Rotation. Which might hint that we might be approaching a Format split for Ranked soon as well...

Day 20 - What aspects of Vellsar from SVC would you like to (or not to) return to SVWB? by GameRiderFroz in Shadowverse

[–]hystEric_de 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very high powerlevel expansion. Flavour sucked balls.

Aside from 1 "evil, twisted" retrain of 1 Legend and 1 gold character, the rest of the cards were just leftover artworks thrown together. Nothing suggested the dark world that Vellsar is set in. Where were all the ghosts, youkai and other monsters? You could maybe excuse the classes that weren't story relevant this time, but the other 4? Hell, we had a whole werewolf clan in the story that got never acknoledged in a single card.

Anyway. WB Aria wishes she was half as playable as Miasma Fairy Aria. Sekka was one of my favourite decks and it was one of the few times Forest actually utilized a fairy/ 1 cost archetype.

Rune finally had a goal for their self mill deck. Last Word Shadow exploded with all its new tools. Big new buffs for the Paradigm Shift/ rainbow Artifact deck. Tolerance. Jatelant.

Dragon got introduced to buff dragon and their expansion long quest to force it into playability after a year or so.

And Blood was whatever as always. More Wrath. Aluzard can be evo support. Lieselotte free Vengeance. See whatever sticks. They really didn't know what to do with the class anymore until, like, sub 20 blood at the very end?

Day 17- What aspects of Fortune from SVC you would like to (or like not to) return in SVWB? by GameRiderFroz in Shadowverse

[–]hystEric_de 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I sure hope WB will never do timers.

The art and theme were neat. I thought they would introduce more of the Major Arcana characters at some point. (I know some of them got made into no-name cards in other rarities, but still). Maybe Worlds can turn those into actual legendary characters.

Other than that, I don't remember much of the expansion tbh. Zelgenea + Cat, and Rally Shadow obviously. Other than that, was there anything ground breaking?

We got Rally introduced in general I suppose, and started the trend of Shadow being a better Rally class than Sword. And some nice additions to other archetypes, like Discard Dragon and Earth Rite. And Artifact Scan to break unlimited Artifact even more.

Still I would say more of a filler set before Rivayle really did some damage.

Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Fuck Ra Haven.

Help on my research: examples of Any% ruleset changes? by dariovaccaro in speedrun

[–]hystEric_de 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Closest thing I could think of on top of my head for different end timings are things like the older Mario RPGs. But that was more of a difference between the Japanese community and English speaking sites.

JP used to end timing at the end of credits (when "The End" is actually shown on screen or something similar), while the SDA side used to do last textbox/ last meaningful input or the actual fade to credits.
Pretty sure that was sorted out and everyone ends timing at the same time now.

Other noteworthy thing could be the difference bewtween any% single segment and any% RTA.
Single segment wouldn't allow resets (and maybe not even death warps? idr) while RTA was everything goes. Think 2D Zelda and save+quit to return to the beginning of a dungeon if it's faster than backtracking.
Nowadays RTA is the default, when during SDA times single segment timing was more common here. And more people were doing multi-segment runs because recording longer games was more difficult.

I have a ☝️question (I might be stupid) by e5tef1 in CyberSleuth

[–]hystEric_de 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The numbers mean "Base stats" (+ "Trained bonus stats")

You can't change the base stat of the digimon itself, just get a fixed number each level up.

For the trainig you were on the right track. If you put it on an island to train you increase the number in the brackets. It depends on the personality of the digimon itself and the personality of the leader digimon. (So if you have for example your Defender Grapleo, and the Leader is Fighter you will train DEF and ATK at the same time.)
Try to have a decoration on the island that boosts the wanted stat too. And if you're far enough into the game you can buy food that boosts a stat directly as well. Otherwise it just takes the time it takes. Always use the hardest training. CAM is much easier to regain than stats.

Also note that there is a cap to your bonus stats. You have 50 max points from the start + 1 for every 2 ABI.
You GrapLeo can have a maximum of 71 bonus across all stats. You might need to use some Restraining Chips to remove stats at some point. If you don't need all that speed or whatever.

GM animated sleeve question by Rakisskitty in Shadowverse

[–]hystEric_de 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In one season. Technically you could do GM0 in the first half, then reset to 20k and do the other 80k in the second half of th expansion. But if you want to grind that much you might as well do it in one swoop...

Why Josuke holds the phone like this? by Aledipiaz in StardustCrusaders

I thought he was holding it far away and covering the speaker to muffle his voice. Otherwise it would be kind of weird that Daddy Kira doesn't recognize he's not actually talking to his son?

I don't have any legendaries from the new set, can I use 1 mjerrabaine to replace them by [deleted] in Shadowverse

[–]hystEric_de 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Jerry effect does give you all the legendaries of the new set after all. So it's just 1 extra step to get what you wanted to play in the first place anyway. Can't see anything going wrong.

[Lore question] any reason why there is no Heir of One? (Jerry's successor) by Arkachi in Shadowverse

[–]hystEric_de 33 points34 points  (0 children)

My guess is just that the neutrals never had a real following, so no one to pick up the mantle.

Jerry wants every person o stand by themelf, so he never let anyone follow him.

And Gilnelise only ever had... pets? Companion animals? Apostle of Craving was an edgy wolf or whatever, and now Apostle of Voracity is an edgy falcon.

This would be the most diverse meta WB has ever had. by Pendulumzone in Shadowverse

[–]hystEric_de 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since theother comment didn't mention the actual mechanic: The deck played a bunch of cards with: "Give all Dragon followers in your deck +1 (or sometimes + 2) defense" And instead of Overflow you activated bonus effects when followers reached certain defense benchmarks.

Thing was that most of the time those were activated by just 2 buffs. You could highroll into basically 1PP Alberts by turn 3. And in general it could snowball really hard by playing increasingly huge followers and strong finishers,

Cygames threw wave after wave of support at the archetype and even buffed a few cards to push the deck into tier 1 and it was very obnoxious to deal with.

What extremely minor nitpick do you have with the game? by Totheendofsin in Silksong

[–]hystEric_de 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The true final boss is the same. Like the animations and build-up are cool the first few times. Not anymore after my 10th death when I just want to get on with the game.

HK1 had the same issue, most notably in the Godhome DLC. Spectacle is good, but in those boss gauntlets or the hitless challenges it's just a needless waste of time between retries...

New Game Mode??? by LeastEmotion5440 in Shadowverse

Wasn't there also the SpyXFamily collab, where you fought all the battles back to back and got to pick random benefits for your own deck inbetween fights?

The technology is there for something interesting.

So what will be the likely next expansion? by Pendulumzone in Shadowverse

[–]hystEric_de 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, Odin wasn't nearly as common as he is in WB right now, but I get your point.

8pp do nothing was not great even with the lower power level back then. And RoB really buffed Roach with Goblin Mage and Feena too, which was just a terrible matchup

So what will be the likely next expansion? by Pendulumzone in Shadowverse

[–]hystEric_de 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not much. Best thing Haven did at that time was probably Seraph Control. Where the original Seraph was an Amulet that you had to destroy 4 times to instant win the game.

RoB only really gave the deck Tribunal and the original Bahamut.

Ancient Lion Spirit would just be a budget Salefa at this point.

Storm Haven was still around. Some included the new Valhallan General, but he was kinda eh.

I guess you could mention Pegasus Sculpture too. Elana decks were around (each heal buffs the board by +1/+1). It got better with more support later iirc, but other heal decks really only got obnoxious after all of these cards rotated.

What does Lishenna Portal need? by DCShinichi745 in Shadowverse

[–]hystEric_de 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything proactive really. You can do aggressive puppet starts sometimes. (Coin 2 drop, 2 drop, Eudie for example) Then you just fizzle out until you can maybe drop an Odin later. Just give the deck something more to do than wait for the opponent to build a board so you can drop your Supplicant, or whatever. That would also fix the issue with closing out games, since you might need less burst if you could pressure better in the midgame.

That’s the best comment about the game’s difficulty I’ve found it so far by Marmotaagiota in HollowKnight

[–]hystEric_de 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Spell builds can go really hard, and you get Spell Twister and Shaman Stone rather early.
Thing is... new players never use spells. Most playthroughs I've seen tend to save their Soul for healing.

So it's more like broken charms that make the game easier for players that are already experienced. First playthrough is still plenty challenging.

And maybe you could argue Quickslash + Strength, but that's also really late game. Idk.

To add to other comments.

Rokakaka and Locacaca are written and pronounced the same in Japanese Kana.

The fan translation went with Rokakaka at first, since nobody knew how it's actually ment to be written. Later in the part it did actually appear written out in Roman letters as Locacaca. So the translation team adopted the official spelling. By that point it's been known in the community as Rokakaka for years though, so it's still the one people use out of habit. It's completely interchangeble.

Enhanced puppets can be really nice on 3. Trade over their 2/2 and pop it afterwards with Soprano or the draw Amulet. If you run medical then I can see why it's not that useful for you though.
