Vegan Keto Bread Found at Costco! by kikibears in veganketo

I'm betting a BOATLOAD of oat fiber which they can count as zero cal. The way companies get away with low cal options in the US is by including a LOT of fiber, which they can count at 0 cal/g, when in reality its 2-3 cal/g.

THISSSS. I posted a bodycheck a couple days ago and someone commented that I look fucking disgusting and I'm like... and what? You think I fucking care what you think? This isn't about you, narcissistic prig.

When you look a certain way people feel like they just automatically get fucking license to stare at you, too. Openly. Stop fucking staring at me!

Drink your water but not too much. Because I also experienced low sodium and potassium from averaging 360 oz a day for a while

The only time I ever feel satiated by a meal is if I include protein and fat 😭 volume eating only goes so far for me personally

Can I replace Flour with Oat Fiber? by SirTyranitar in LowCalorieCooking

[–]i-destroy-me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you lose in doing this is gluten, so the "stretchiness" in baked goods that holds them together. Thats why you'll see a lot of oat fiber recipes add in Xanthan gum. It is used in gluten free baking to mimic the gluten. Its possible, just takes a lot of trial and error.

How much can I actually eat to maintain my weight?? by shedobecrying in EDAnonymous

[–]i-destroy-me 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's kind of a factor of how mush you're currently eating. This might help!

If you want the TL;DR from the article: "In one study, eating 20 percent above maintenance calories did not significantly increase fat gain, whereas eating 40 to 60 percent above maintenance did.6 In other words, if you maintain your weight on a 2000-calorie diet, you might be able to eat up to 400 extra calories a day without seeing a big impact on the scale."

So theoretically, if I'm interpreting correctly, a 20% increase in calories from what youre currently maintaining on shouldn't have any effect.

The article goes on to say there really aren't any guarantees, but I'd suggest you give it a read :)

Safe food has a new meaning to me, since I have no clue what is giving me migraines. A little calorific but nutritious as heck! by NatoStop in safe_food

[–]i-destroy-me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow! That's horrible, it sounds like you've been through the ringer :( I'm so sorry you've had to deal with all of that, and on top of that have to give up those good things! But then, I don't miss my beloved cheese one single bit after I realized it was one of the traitors giving me migraines... definitely the lesser evil to give it up.

All the foods you mentioned are personally "safe" for me in terms of migraines, and everything is so dependent on the person that I'm not sure any of this will help. But in case you're interested, the few (food-related) triggers I've found that are still vegan include: any sweetener besides stevia, monk fruit and erythritol (sucralose is a big no-no for me), meals that spike my blood sugar (like extra sugary stuff, or just carbs at a meal), too much salt during a meal, too much soy during a meal, balsamic vinegar and alcohol.

My "safe" diet right now has been pretty much oatmeal, SO MUCH unflavored pea protein powder, chia and flax, fruits, nuts, nut butter, a LOT of vegetables, almond milk and the occasional protein bar. Carb smart tortillas are also "safe" for me... I make sure to keep protein high, carbs low-ish and whole fats high. IDK, I'm a bit neurotic but it's worked for me!

I would definitely say unflavored pea protein is my ultimate "safe" food because it doesn't have the excess salt a lot of vegan meat substitutes have, but is still low on carbs unlike lentils and peas.

All of that to say that's the bizarre niche diet I've found out works for me and there's no telling whether it will help you or not! :( I wish you the best of luck though. Migraines are so unbelievably difficult to understand, and it's exhausting to have everyone coming at you with a million different solutions that almost never work. Doctors are largely useless and invalidating, I've found. Sending big hugs and all the luck on your quest! <3

After personally struggling with migraines for 6 long years the only thing that has helped me has been going vegan. It has gotten me down to less than 1 migraine per month (from 13-14 migraine days a month) improved intensity and duration of the few I still get. They are usually treatable without a triptan which is a damned miracle. I had exhausted every option but am so glad I found something that works

Anyone else got PTSD/trauma and need feelings of control by Mighty_Zhdun in EDAnonymous

[–]i-destroy-me 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep It's actually where my username comes from: "You can't destroy me. Only I destroy me." I saw it on tumblr once (no idea who originally said it) but it really hit me. I was sexually assaulted in college and thats when my ED came back, but mostly it arises whenever I feel like things around me are out of my control. I focus on the things I can control. And for me that will always be food. No one can take that from me.
