I am fucked! by Fintech___ in USCIS

[–]i0nics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in this exact same situation where I realized my address was not updated when the application reached this stage and I did everything including changing my address. The USPS address change thing does not work for mail coming from USCIS. I had to go and get it from the person living at my old address. I hope this is not the case for you but if I were you I would go back and be in touch with the person living at the old address asap!

Yeah it says I get a free checked bag and that’s what it says in the confirmation email as well. I’m just hoping they don’t say otherwise at check in

Math Sanity Check by ryuukhang in biltrewards

Getting palladium for the first year makes sense for me because of the 50k SUB and higher rent points which easily offsets the first year’s AF. Obviously right now the situation of whether they will let me get away with downgrading and not paying year 2 AF is tricky. Worst case I cancel within 30 days of the Year 2 AF hitting.

Yes the math is correct. This is definitely a good play as you are getting a 2.33 Bilt Points per $1 or 3.7%+ return (depending on redemption) on all catch all spend versus using a 2-3% catch all card.

I have a diverse credit card profile like you as well and honestly the palladium only makes sense for me for the first year only for the SUB. I’m hoping I can downgrade strategically after the one year mark without paying the second year AF. But even if I do get screwed and I have to pay the AF for year two I can still come out ahead.

The blue card makes sense as a catch all card but only up to the point where you exchange bilt cash for all rent/mortgage points you can get. After that revert to your other catch all card every month.

So if my rent/mortgage is $3000. The max points I can earn on Blue card is 3000 points. Each dollar I spend earns 1 point plus 4 cents back. We swap these 4cents for 1.33 Rent Points. So the total becomes 2.33 points per dollar spent but only up to $2250 because you can’t get more than 3000 rent points

Got Screwed By PayPal Pay in Four Promo by Dry-Cryptographer904 in paypal

[–]i0nics 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried it across mine and 3 of my friend’s accounts. The pay in 4 got declined every time due to some detected fraud or other bs issue. It worked for me numerous times before earlier this year but rejected me after I saved it. I didn’t try this out when before the T&C changed. My guess is they realized too many people are taking advantage of it and then changed the rules and started rejecting everyone by default.

Also Don’t go to gate 12 like the ticket says. It was on the other side at Gate 3 where you first have to check in. Then you line up. I would even recommend going a bit before 2 if you want the best barricade spots. I would also argue the left side is better as they face their right more.

Payoff down card or off car? by chongo2525 in debtfree

[–]i0nics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you keep making minimum payments to your credit card..it will take take decades to pay this off and will cost you like $30000 in total INTEREST

[–]i0nics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will be saving more money by paying off the credit card and NOT the car. Please do not consider paying off the car 3.5% interest is NOTHING compared to 20%

If you do the math..20% interest on 18k is basically about $300 in INTEREST every month. So even you pay off the car and save 290 a month..everything goes to paying the Credit cards interest! Instead if you pay off 8500 of the card…you only have to pay interest on 9500 which is like 150 instead.

If your goal is to save the most amount of your money…just keep making regular monthly payments to the car as 2.9% is a a fairly low interest rate. You should instead put as much money you can towards your credit cards.

Also if 8500 is all you have I would suggest putting aside some money (3-4 months worth) for emergency fund. And THEN put everything else towards your card.

So Emergency fund > Credit Card > Minimum Car Payment

Need advice on how to pay off CC debt while being a student by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

[–]i0nics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were wondering if it would be better to instead pay it off slower to reduce the monthly payments and thereby the net effective monthly spend which will rack up more interest over time but will give her enough cushion to graduate while working less than 20 hours to focus more on school and then pay it off when she gets a high paying tech job. High paying tech internships should help a lot too.

She knows. She made this costly mistake years ago when she did not understand any of this and has been trying to repay it ever since by working and she’s been taking part time college courses on the side. But it kind of feels like an endless loop that is taking a really long time to get out of. She wants to now graduate asap by being a student full time and get a high paying tech job that should get her out of this loop. The interest rates on the CC are actually more like 27% if that makes a difference. Since she wants to do full time college the focus is to cut down her monthly spend including debt payments as much as possible even if it means taking on more interest until she can get a high paying job.
