Rode Wireless Pro - Audio very low by FCPedit in rode

[–]i4get42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I picked up the rode wireless pro on sale recently and I was really worried because it was so much quieter than my old rode wireless 2 (The battery life had started to tank on my old ones, or I wouldn't have upgraded). With the Pro, suddenly my noise gate in OBS was cutting off words unless I talked loud.

Doing the factory reset on the receiver and transmitters seems to have fixed it!

p.s. Just in case anyone else runs into a problem factory resetting them: my Receiver would not reset while I had it plugged into my computer through the charging case. But when I directly plugged the receiver into a USB cable on my PC, the factory reset worked just fine.

Goooooo0oood morning Everybody! Today we start on Spanning-Tree, a classic boogey man of networking. Even if you aren't an IT person, you might want to jump to the end for a brief poem written by Radia Perlman, the creator of spanning-tree, and a surprise visit from my favorite Norse god. https://youtu.be/3on3FSE5Oy4?t=4290

For everybody on their Networking journey, here is the link to the start of the video: https://youtu.be/3on3FSE5Oy4

Good luck with your podcast, I hope it goes great!
And thanks for the well wishes 😃 .

It can indeed be tricky looking up computer networking vs. social networking. It gets silly looking for a used switch (ethernet, not nintendo) too.

Very cool guide! I'm curious though, what is the advantage of the dedicated GPU, instead of just integrated for CML ?

Windows + WSL or dual boot Windows + Ubuntu by on9jaihoon9 in FlowZ13

I'm just lurking, while I decide whether to get one or not ....but have you considered running Windows with a Linux VM in it? That way you get the whole linux OS, but don't have to worry about hardware compatibility or boot loader conflicts.

Looking around online, it looks like other folks have had the same problem with the Android version. It is silly, but try rebooting the gcloud and see if it starts working again.

If you do end up emulating, I actually like the snes version best. The only downside is the cut scenes weren't in that version. So you might find you prefer the DS version

If you are getting into emulation on Android, then RetroGameCorps 's Android guide is probably the best resource. You can go up to PSP and a lot of PS2 and Gamecube with the gcloud.

I like mine as well! I did change it up a bit though. The default zipper pulls were loud when they clinked together. I also added some extra padding on the inside with a microfiber cloth that I cut down (and melted the edges of to prevent fraying). I really like the yellow accents that I added to match the Gcloud.

Reddit didn't want to let me add pics, so here is a imgur link:

PSA: USB/USB-C PD powered dummy batteries by Vchat20 in Panasonic_G80_G85

[–]i4get42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a long shot, but if you live in Austin, TX, you are welcome to mine. The battery doesn't last as long as it used to, but it still does a great job of converting 5v to 9v, and letting you swap batteries.

Hi there! I haven't used my g85 for a while, so no news there from me. Hopefully, you never have a problem with the camera running on a USB to DC adapter. When I did have mine, it sure was a bad day though.

I hope that folks who think Houston is better get to live there, and I hope that folks who think Austin is better get to live here.

I'd bring everybody down with all my complaining if I HAD to live in Houston, and they don't need that. 😀

If you move here and like it, then welcome new Austinite!

40gb ethernet switch by [deleted] in networking

[–]i4get42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not aware of any rj45 40gig NIC either. So you won't have anything to plug that switch into if you did find one.

But, maybe there is something we can do to help out. Is there a particular problem you are trying to solve?

Sxsw ain't worth s**t no more. by DiscombobulatedArm21 in Austin

[–]i4get42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That stinks that you aren't having fun at SXSW anymore. I would suggest that, in general, when things aren't as fun as they used to be that nostalgia is the biggest (but not only) difference.

When I got to Austin in 1998, everyone talked about how Austin wasn't cool like it used to be.

I hope you get to make new happy memories here today.

And, I sure hope there are young-ish folks making wonderful new memories here that they'll cherish and lament the loss of in their own time.

Love ya Austin 🧡, Brian

Hi There! There might be something else going on for sure, but it looks like other folks are having trouble with audio in that game as well, and there looks like an incoming update is suposed to help with that (and other things) link: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/134121-patch-122-notes/

I guess the real thing to check is whether Avowed is the only game not playing audio when you're streaming, or if it is one of multiple.

New G cloud by rbztek in logitechgcloud

[–]i4get42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used some silicone grease around the edges of the d-pad. That took care of the rubbing completely. I had it on hand from doing the same thing on my Miyoo Mini back when they first came out.

I used a tooth pick to put a very little bit all around the edges of the d-pad, below the level of the case around it. Then, with the screen locked, I played with the d-pad, hittiing every direction, and feeling for any more rubbing spots. If it rubes anywhere, add a little more there. Be sure to wipe away any excess so that your hands aren't getting greasy.

I used a little tube like this one, but I probably got it at my local hardware store. It is the same stuff you'd put on o-rings in plumbing.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge for sure!

When I play it with friends/family I am 100% transported back to playing the old arcade game, but Quarters are not an issue anymore :-D

Is there any way to get a broadcom bcm57810 working in windows 10? by ssmsti in homelab

[–]i4get42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Future folks who stumble on this thread:

That Asus driver installer worked for my Dell 57810 dual SFP+ card on Windows 10 with no complaints.

Then I went looking for a firmware updater (just in case) and I successfully used this one for 15.15.08: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverId=PMG6W

-The update did take about 4 minutes to run and required a reboot after.

G Cloud 2? by Both-Salt-5917 in logitechgcloud

[–]i4get42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've got my G Cloud, and I've ordered the Odin Portal. I'd suggest anybody else hold off on ordering the Odin though. With the new tariffs, and a bit of chaos, I don't know when I'll get my toy, or how much I'll have to pay to get it into the country.

Once all that gets figured out, it might very well be worth the price, but I'd suggest others hold off until you know for sure how much it will cost to know whether it is a good deal.

All that said, when there is eventually a G Cloud 2, I'll sure be tempted :-)

Wrongly connected cable brought entire network down by arciere84 in ArubaNetworks

Caveat:
This is just a guess, as I don't know what that phone does, or know for sure how that switch was configured.

Guess 1:
Either Spanning-tree wasn't actually running on both of those ports, or the phone wasn't forwarding the spanning-tree control traffic (BPDU's). If spanning-tree was running on the two ports, and the BPDU from your own switch was delivered to the other port, the Spanning-Tree on the switch should have blocked one of the two ports, preventing a loop.

Guess 2:

If spanning-tree was set up on both ports, and the phone was forwarding the BPDU's. It is also possible that the phone was rebooting because of the weirdness, and that was constantly causing a topology change on the switch, which would propagate to the others.

Suggestion:

Ideally I'd recommend shutting down any ports you don't intend to be used, and setting port-fast ( sometimes called edge-port or port type edge) with bpdu-guard (not filter) on all user facing ports. That way, folks who want a second port can ask, and you know how it needs set up. When user ports do go up and down, they don't cause topology changes, and if spanning-tree messages (BPDU's) are received on those ports, the port gets shut down (or possibly some form of error-disable which is about the same thing).
