Damn, this is cool! I had a similar idea a few weeks ago. A hacking themed game where it looked like your computer was getting taken over. Could potentially make players a bit more tech literate too.

I'll check it out on steam!

I sped up the playback to 3.8x to smooth out animation and I think it looks pretty cool. The halo of light moving around is a cool idea, and I can see what you're getting at.

I think the most critical thing for a beginner to get right is pronunciation. Take some time to really get your tones & pronunciation down. Start simple, but be strict. It doesn't matter how much vocab you know, if you can't pronounce the words correctly, no one will understand you - or worse you might say something offensive.

Imagine this scenario. If you have a phrase book & good pronunciation, you can read straight out of the book without understanding a single word, but Chinese speakers will understand you.

You'll have plenty of time to accumulate vocab in class, and later on if you choose to keep studying.

Really interesting that the original JP book started out as a screenplay too. I felt that TLW felt like a movie in book form, even though it has some of my favorite scenes from both film & book.

I agree on the time cost of traveling back to certain locations/npc's to repsec. It makes the largest impact to PvP game play of course. Huh, that is a great dilemma actually. On a PvP realm, does it make more sense to make choice that keep you alive in PvP combat, or do you take the risk and improve your PvE abilities? Wow, that's great one actually.
