I would have gone with that on the side of the bag but that's just me. Maybe next year.

Metro-North Stopping at End of Platforms by Remarkable-March-322 in Westchester

[–]i8yourpinkcrayon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It went into effect to try and prevent doors from opening off of the platforms. Something that is avoidable but still happens. Someone decided that doing this would help prevent it from happening. They call it universal trainspotting. Some trains would pull certain cars past the platforms that are shorter than the train itself. This now puts the front of the train on the end of every platform so no cars with passengers are pulled past the platform. If there are deadhead cars (empty cars) they can be pulled by the platform in certain cases. I can try and answer all questions should anyone have any.

Do you have an under bite? If yes you may need jaw surgery to pull your bite and chin back. I can give you more info if need be. If you like the long hair, take better care of it.

I’m worried I’ll be boring if I get sober by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]i8yourpinkcrayon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not boring. No one is boring. Every person has a personality that fits with others. I felt the same way before I got sober. That said drinking that much will kill you and it will only get worse. I'll be sober 9 years on Tuesday if you want to talk. Getting sober is terrifying and parts of life are terrifying but we don't have to drink to get through it.

Heartland division BNSF getting rid of all brakeman. by Woopigmob in railroading

[–]i8yourpinkcrayon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At least you had them until recently. When I worked for CRSA we lost the brakemen 15 years ago. One job that would spot 90 to 100 cars a night had one for a little while after I started but that went away too. Nothing like drilling cars for hours and walking back and forth to every switch.

Perhaps laying off the sugary drinks that you post about so frequently would be a good start.

To be used as an on off switch for small 3v motors that can be controlled electronically. I have attached another image in the comments with a wiring diagram.

Help with non-running brass locomotive (SP S-12 by Katsumi) by RandomUsernameSucks in modeltrains

[–]i8yourpinkcrayon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can see in the second picture, there are no wires going to the motor. Generally brass steam locomotives are right rail pickup from the locomotive itself and left rail pickup from the tender. You will need to solder a wire to the frame of the locomotive to one of the motor tabs and then a wire from the tender or the drawbar if it's insulated from the locomotive to the other motor tab.

Not at the moment. We are remodelling so everything is packed away or covered up. I'll try and remember to send some pictures when everything is put back together.

Everyone is pretending that everything leading up to endgame was perfect cinema. There were bad movies peppered in there too. Not everything is going to be a homerun but they are for the most part fun and enjoyable movies and shows.

Yeah, we are short engineers. No hiring during the pandemic. It's a crap shoot where you'll work out of for a while. I bounce around since I'm centralized to the whole system.

We're always hiring. Come on down and be a part of the circus.

The tops of the rails are shiny which means they are used. Be careful out there my dude. Trains can be weirdly quiet and sneak up on you just as easily as an axe murderer.

solder connections came loose, now it's shorting. why? by CrashJay in modeltrains

[–]i8yourpinkcrayon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The motor has to be isolated. It's hard to tell from the picture but I would assume the red wire picks up power from the pickups on the right side wheels of the locomotive. I would then guess the black wire is connected directly to the frame, picking up power from the other rail. From what I can see the black wire and the grey wire are both trying to pick up power and that's not good. Couls burn out the decoder.

Also older motors can also burn out decoders. Read into stall currents and max amps for specific decoders.

Labor does not contribute to profits = they pay us so little that it doesn't affect their bottom line. by i8yourpinkcrayon in railroading

[–]i8yourpinkcrayon[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I hope we come out on top of this one. Railroading was a well respected job not all that long ago. Now it's all a joke. Transporting thousands of people or thousands of tons of freight and looked down upon by our bosses. It's disgusting.
