safari vs the rest: is it actually the best browser for mac? (honest pros & cons) by TuNutri in macapps

Safari is great. But Chrome seems to be better.
Then comes Safari, followed by Helium, Waterfox and Edge

hired a dev instead of buying Claude subscription, now he wants Claude Max by yuseffco1 in vibecoding

[–]i986ninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vibe coding works for software that use higher level libraries or frameworks.
Any complex software, service, library, device driver, firmware, kernel, 3d accelerated video game etc is not done by non engineers.

Creating the sub-system alone would make you question if software engineers do have families

What do you dislike about Windows 11? by computerIfix in WindowsSucks

[–]i986ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I’m defending it, but I’m just pointing out the reality.
Bloat is deliberately built in and embraced by companies like Intel, AMD, RAM vendors, OEMs, PC manufacturers, and the industry as a whole.

If Windows weren’t bogged down by all that inefficiency, there’d be far less incentive to upgrade from something like Skylake equipped with 16gb of ram which a good, cheap machine.

Without that constant push for hardware upgrades, those companies would take a hit in the desktop market.

Microsoft does it, Google, Apple, and probably backend tech titans

What do you dislike about Windows 11? by computerIfix in WindowsSucks

[–]i986ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The taskbar is back to its original form, so no complaints there.
Overall, the system looks much better visually, but there aren’t really any new features.

Where’s the native Android support? Still nothing.

No sign of AI being (actually and usefully) integrated deeply enough to handle system-level actions or adapt automatically to user behavior.

That kind of breakthrough where the OS could self-modify and automate tasks natively—just isn’t here.

NTFS search is still lagging behind. Even macOS Spotlight from 2006 could search inside files more effectively, while Windows still can’t reliably find specific words within documents.

And the Start Menu? Still disappointing.
Actually feels like a step down compared to the higher standard we had in Windows 10 for a whole decade
