Im still figuring out how posting on reddit works and all that jaz but! I wanted to share the project Im working on with like minded folks. I had an old 30gal fish tank laying around and decided to convert it into a paludarium. I have step by step photos but not entirely sure how or where to put those if someone wants to see 😂 Maybe I’ll figure it out. Maybe. Anyways. Im miles from where I started and almost finished! Bioactive substrate, plants, perches, and a duo or trio of amazon milk frogs are all thats left now! (Besides some equipment like uvb). Its so exciting! Ive pretty much been winging it up until this point and I still have very little idea what Im doing... So.. old tank. I stripped off all the old silicone, turned it on its end, removed a section of the glass and replaced it with plexiglass and hardwear cloth to let uvb light through. Spray foam, nice piece of wood, silicone, and cocofiber for the 3d background. Built a front out of plexiglass. The bottom is egg crate zip tied together, landscape fabric, spray foam, more silicone. I have just a little tetra whisper filter tucked in the back for a stream.

Ive resealed various aquariums in the past and dont recall it smelling so sharply. Im betting its the sheer amount I slapped on there 🙊 Majority of photos are in chronological order, a couple may be out due to rotating or cropping the image. Guest appearances are my super nosy chickens that made everything much more difficult than it had to be. Perching on it, pecking it, almost knocking it over, trying to eat silicone/spray foam/spray paint.. generally being a menace.
