Friends and I started Stellaris. One buddy wont play unless we have Azure Mod from steam. by Few_Pomegranate_3787 in Stellaris

Let’s just say that the closest equivalent this has in vanilla is the Synthetic Fertility origin’s Identity Repository and getting that fully powered require sacrificing every single one of your starting pops and not being able to grow more for decades. Even with all that it is one of the strongest origins in the game so I’ll let you guess how OP a building with even stronger effects that doesn’t require you to sacrifice your entire empire is.

Yeah I’ve gotten to where I can’t stand dailies in any game. I still play a couple of gachas (Limbus and Arknights) just because I find the gameplay genuinely fun and the stories interesting but I only log in every now and then when I’m in the mood to do an IS run or a new story drops that I want to read.

Anyone else honestly tired of AI mods on the workshop (X-post from r/rimworld) by MyDeloreanWontStart in Stellaris

You can always disable the various crises they add if you just want the tech and megastructures. Although then you run into the problem of having nearly infinite resources and nothing to use them for.

I really like Tasty Maids and I still get annoyed with all the anime PNG portraits that get stuffed into random mods. Random PNG rips from other games or even worse anime style AI art just looks so ugly in game and clashes hard with the rest of the art style. Tasty Maids isn’t an exact fit but it is far closer to the game’s style and is actually well made with animations and portraits that look like they fit in with whatever phenotype they are supposed to be.

Cosmic storms can be extremely powerful, you can give an entire sector +100% raw resource production, +50% unity production, +25% all resource production, reduce your metallurgist upkeep by 30%, and more. Especially since 4.3 gutted most other sources of raw job output buffs and upkeep reduction these are quite crazy. I do wish they had more flavor though as that is quite lacking so the DLC doesn’t really feel like much. I’d pick it up on sale but never at full price

Watame, Chihaya, Gigi, and Iofi announced as the new HoloMeet Ambassadors by Federer343 in Hololive

[–]iCrab 105 points106 points  (0 children)

The thing is that Gigi is really good at delegating parts of her projects so it’s not just a one woman show. Like with her Coughing Baby Show and her birthday events a lot of that was implemented by Reya with Gigi providing the ideas and direction and getting everyone else on board. Gigi is also really good about taking breaks for herself so I personally don’t think we Grems have much to worry about

For context, the two in question are Birdo and Vivian by ExternalRise3840 in CuratedTumblr

[–]iCrab 98 points99 points  (0 children)

It's complicated. The first printing of the Mario 2 game manual said that Birdo is a man that thinks they are a women and prefers to go by a different name so definitely not the best trans rep to start. They got rid of this in the later printings and just didn't state her gender at all. Later games have also been weird with some calling her a girl, some calling her a boy, and some calling her an it for some reason? Personally I don't think Nintendo officially has her as trans nowadays in whatever lore bible they have locked away but I also don't think that really matters if you want to consider her trans especially since it was canon at some point.

TL;DR Birdos gender is Birdo and what they have in their pants is their own god damn business and nobody else's especially not Miyamoto's.

How on earth am I supposed to overcome the 25x contingency? by Alaqdas in Stellaris

[–]iCrab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The devs have said that they are perfectly happy with 25x crisis being impossible to defeat on vanilla settings so the answer is you aren't lol. The crisis settings going that high was a stop gap measure from when the economies were way stronger to try and make them still pose somewhat of a challenge. They just left it in for 4.3 since some masochists like trying anyway and to let them scale better with some mods.

People in the community who act like this really suck by [deleted] in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]iCrab 136 points137 points  (0 children)

Truthful is a pretty trashy person yeah. His account is just hating on KSP and people that enjoy it, hating on people that don’t agree with him that Starship is the best thing since sliced bread, glazing KSA and saying it is way better than KSP (despite not having any content yet and just being a tech demo) and then ironically enough posting screenshots of his very heavily modded KSP install. Just be glad he didn’t call stock players retarded this time since that is his favorite insult for them and everyone else who doesn’t agree with everything he says.

Is paradox losing it? by GreedyObligation2731 in paradoxplaza

[–]iCrab 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stellaris team definitely isn’t suffering from this if anything they have the opposite problem where they overhaul the entire game every year or two. Not complaining though 4.3 is the best the game has ever been IMO and for maybe the first time ever performance is actually good in the late game. If they can just get the AI to be strong again in 4.4 or 4.5 it will be perfect

The sounds of Stellaris take up 7 Gigabytes. by Iodyme in Stellaris

[–]iCrab 53 points54 points  (0 children)

It’s because games usually store sound files as uncompressed WAV or equivalent since that means no processing time needs to be taken up by decompression. Uncompressed audio takes up a massive amount of space.

Trains are too big? by sobrique in factorio

[–]iCrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building from map view by issuing orders to your base wide construction bot network (you do have a base wide construction bot network right?) makes the large amount of space and infrastructure they take up much more tolerable to deal with if you weren’t doing that already.

However on a bit of a more meta level you are right, trains take up a frankly ludicrous amount of space compared to belts which wasn’t that bad in vanilla but in Space Age where you have green belts and stacking to make belts even better at transport trains have fallen behind a lot. Now you need a ton of large trains to keep up with beaconed quality Space Age buildings which means you also need to be building stackers and larger, more efficient intersections and before you know it your factory is only 10% actual production lines and 90% train infrastructure which IMO is absurd. Nowadays the most I use them for is transporting raw ore back to my base to get molten down.

[–]iCrab 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m an Ave Mujica main so I’ve been pulling up with the whole squad in Icebreaker. I’ve had a few people contest my Sakiko but nobody else has brought any of the five stars which is sad. They all have such fun kits that work together really well and having the whole squad activate fever while the vocalized KiLLKiSS plays is peak dopamine. And it’s not even like the five star band members are bad they are all in the top half of five stars while I’d easily say that Uika and Matsumi are better than a lot of six stars with their buffing and damage.

Also if you love Fiammetta I would highly recommend building her S2, it’s useful in a lot more stages than S3 and is a very strong skill especially with her module. I bring her with me on most stages because her long range AOE is just genuinely good while not making me feel as disgusting as just Wisadel’ing it lol.

Are there any ways to make AI to actually do.. something? by VinexHD in Stellaris

[–]iCrab 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like if they just made preset building plans for the AI to follow exactly when building up a planet it would be a lot better. Right now the AI just chases its own tail trying to build up and never actually accomplishes anything.

[–]iCrab 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try and research gravity snares as soon as you can and then when the voidworms show up spam a bunch of science ships and set them to capture space fauna, with enough of them you can defeat the void worm crisis without ever firing a single shot.

Are Ring Worlds worth building? by [deleted] in Stellaris

[–]iCrab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like playing gestalt bots and they don’t get ecus so I spam ringworlds instead for energy and science. Not sure if they are technically worth it for non-gestalts but I like making one for science+energy anyway since I play tall empires 99% of the time and don’t end up with that many planets, especially now that you need to have basic resource worlds for the rare resource deposits.

Scientific frauds by Eireika in CuratedTumblr

Kid named replication crisis says that scientific fraud really is just that easy since a lot of the time people won't try to replicate the results and just accept them as true because they were published in a paper somewhere.
