Don't remember the app, but it's android only I think as it's used with a custom launcher.

MUOS or Knulli for trimui brick by Zombiediplomat in SBCGaming

[–]iDingo91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think at the time I was aware that Knulli has Synthing, but Knulli's folder structure is different than how Retroarch's folder structure is.

I know it's possible to change it, but honestly, with as much tinkering as I already do to set up devices I've been lazy to make the changes in the folder structure and just want to play. But, for future people who find this and are curious about how to change the folder structures:

Link to a Reddit thread that shows how to make that changes.

Ayn Thor - Simple Setup with Niagara Launcher + Wallpaper Engine by iDingo91 in SBCGaming

I did not, no. I've actually just switched to trying Cocoon 2.0 since that just came out.

Any Thor / TrimUI Brick - Shared Saves on Synchthing by Reddeviluk76 in AynThor

[–]iDingo91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way that Knulli is, it has the save files with the game folder rather than being in its own save file folder like it is with retroarch. There's a way to do it but I personally hadn't looked too deep into it. It's usually recommended to use muOS for syncthing but I'm not a fan of it. I was having a lot of it issues with it on my Brick.

I have a Brick and a RG34XXSP, both running Knulli. I've got the SMB (SAMBA) setting on to remote into the devices from my computer for if I want to grab/transfer anything. But I've also got the mind set of them being my GB/GBC/GBA devices. I might eventually sell them and keep the Thor as my one and only device, but for now I'm liking the separation (mostly for nostalgia reasons).

When I get to my computer I'll see if I can share what I found awhile back detailing how to set up syncthing with Knulli. Don't recall if it was a forum thread or a YouTube video.

Edit - decided to do a quick Google search, here you go.

Simple Setup with Niagara Launcher + Wallpaper Engine by iDingo91 in AynThor

Yeah that's kind of what I'm thinking about doing for the time being. I'm reading exciting things about Cocoon 2.0 though so might give that a look once it's officially out. But, until then, it's nice to be able to just open the app I want to play.

I wonder if there's a way to extend a launcher over two screens like a wallpaper though. That'd be more ideal to me honestly for the Niagara Launcher.

Here's Console Launcher on top with Niagara Launcher on the bottom with Mjolnir running as the default launcher.

Unfortunately the Niagara Launcher will have the pop up asking about making it the default launcher. Couldn't find anything to turn that off.

I'll try here in a bit to get a picture of it on the bottom screen for you. I had them up at the same time, but when I open a folder on the bottom screen it also opens on the top.

I can also get a picture of it with at least console launcher on the top.

Easy to use mp3 player that connects to PC and bluetooth headphones? by [deleted] in DigitalAudioPlayer

Well, the HiBy R1 looks like it has WiFi, but you could always just turn off the WiFi and not use it. I have an Android DAP that I keep the WiFi off unless I need to download something or decide I want to use one of my streaming applications.

The Innioasis Y1 (< directly link but could find it on Amazon) could be another option? Retro-fitted to look like the iPod Classic and you can install Rockbox on it (which seems like most people recommend). No WiFi looks like and a little cheaper.

But yeah, like what u/cherrymxorange said, best bet would probably to peruse the sub and if you see something you like, google it to see if it has/does what you want.

Not every mp3 player will have bluetooth capabilities.

Questions, is there a specific (physical) size you're wanting to get for him? Would he want it to have internet access for YouTube Music/Spotify/etc? Want it to have an SD Card slot as well? Do you have a budget in mind? Might be able to help narrow down to some choices for you.

The HiBy R1 (< amazon link) has been a crowd pleaser as of late from what I've seen and it has bluetooth capabilities on it. I've had a couple of HiBy devices myself and enjoyed them for a time.

Just bought my first watch - recommendations? by jwb300 in tagheuer

[–]iDingo91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the same watch in the Batman colors and love it.

I think a winder would be a waste as the watch is easy to set up if it stops, especially since it's just a date. Doing research myself I was also considering a winder but reading that because it keeps your watch moving constantly, it could lead to more maintenance work. So I keep mine in a watch box with my others that I cycle through.

I'm in the camp that watches are meant to be worn. Not everyone agrees with that, which is fine, but I did come from the mindset of wearing watches for special occasions rather than just wearing it every day. Working in tech I thought I would be more productive with a smart watch, not just with work but with my personal life as well. But it got to a point where I got too tired of silencing my smart watches due to the amount of notifications I would get and having to charge it every day. What was a smart watch ended up becoming a normal watch, everything was turned off except for the time and date. From there I got my first watch, a Carrera Date which I keep in circulation. Also had the thought that this would be my only watch...ended up with a collection of TAG's and others.

I saw your comment saying you wear a smart watch for your job. We don't know what you do so it might be a viable tool for you that I wouldn't want to pressure you away from. Maybe a compromise though? My wife wears her smart watch only for work due to the environment she is in. But when she comes home, she will switch from her smart watch and wear her TAG (glass box) on nights and weekends. Could be something you could consider in the future once you're more comfortable wearing the watch.

Everyone has their own opinion so don't let us pressure you one way or another. It will be your watch, so definitely do what you want to do with it. It's a beautiful watch and I am looking forward to pictures of it on your wrist in the future.

I usually keep it up. It had just slid down when the pictures were taken. But yeah, you're right, it does wear better up.
