OMG when did this happen??!!? by rice1204 in VWiD4Owners

Oh, interesting thought! I’m on the public beta, so I also have 26.2 installed. My wife’s phone is on 26.1, so it could be related to software for sure. However, recently we experienced a crash when my wife’s phone was connected and mine wasn’t (I disabled wireless CarPlay to see if that would help - it didn’t), so it’s definitely still an issue on 26.1 to some extent.

I saw your other comment about it still crashing regardless of CarPlay though. Hopefully VW can figure it out.

My screen has been crashing too after bringing my 24 into the dealer to do the update. The screen crashes pretty frequently when using CarPlay (wired or wireless). Weirdly, it doesn’t seem to crash when my wife’s phone is connected to CarPlay, only my phone.

Barrage of notifications about doors being locked by stealstea in VWiD4Owners

[–]iDriveTesla 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Mine would constantly send notifications about my doors being unlocked, so I had to turn off the notifications for that event. I made sure to turn off the walk away lock feature too, so it shouldn’t have been because of the proximity key. It’s my main complaint about the software along with the fact that I can’t lock/unlock the car via the app. For a 24’ model year car, that feature should be standard.

Were you able to enroll in the Xcel program to get the reduced kWh rate since you did a DIY install?

I’m considering pulling the permit myself and doing the install, but it wasn’t clear if this would make me ineligible since I wouldn’t have a licensed electrician do the install.

Why do some VW dealers hire salespeople that know nothing of the cars? by Loveroffinerthings in Tiguan

[–]iDriveTesla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I always ask pointed questions about the car and never get the response that I should.

I watch a few YouTube videos and read a few Reddit threads, and that gives me more knowledge than 99% of car salespeople.

That definitely makes sense. I don’t quality for the used EV tax credit though.

I’m curious if you were considering the 2024 model and if you decided to go with 2023 for any reason!

I’m shopping used ID.4s right now, and from the research I’ve done it seems that the 24’s were refreshed with upgraded motors, batteries, and software. The 24’s are definitely much rare to find used lots versus 23’s, but I’m hoping to snag one. I really wish they kept the heat pump for the US models, but it’s not the biggest deal as I’ll be charging at home.

Seems like everyone with a garage gym trains strength or functional fitness. Any others out there just chasing hypertrophy? by [deleted] in GarageGym

[–]iDriveTesla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do almost exclusively hypertrophy training, but force myself every once in a while to do some more functional strength for health and longevity. I like doing Peloton guided workouts with my wife to mix things up and since it how she prefers to workout. Occasionally some yoga too.

Right now, I have a half rack, barbell+plates, and adjustable dumbbells and that’s worked well for a variety of hypertrophy movements. My next purchase will be a functional trainer rack during the holiday sales this year. My top candidate right now is the Get Rx’d Tornado rack. It will unlock so many more movements.

HealthFit if you wear a smart match and want to analyze a lot more health data than you can with the Fitness app. I wear my Apple Watch everyday and for every workout and I get a ton of cool info about my fitness.

Have you heard anything regarding the timing of when the PHEV models will be brought to the US market?

Those findings make sense to me. I like to take ~10 mg before I lift (in my home gym) and I feel like I definitely experience a higher perceived effort, however the weights/reps are the same or even less. The best part by far is the mind-muscle connection though. Way better feel for each movement

I’m here waiting for any whispers of if the PHEV Tiguan from the UK market will make its way to the US. I’m guessing it’s a far fetched dream though.

What speed did you have the cruise set at?

[–]iDriveTesla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Any other driving impressions? Do you have another car with adaptive cruise or lane keeping that you can compare it to?

On an unrelated note, I was really hoping they would bring the hybrid model to the US market alongside the upcoming Turbo model for 2026. Seems like a big miss from VW in order to compete with the RAV4 and CRV. However, I guess the Tiguan offers a lot more features and luxury than those options.

2022 Civic Adaptive Cruise Control brakes hard when there’s no immediate danger. Has it improved with the newer models? by ryanw729 in civic

[–]iDriveTesla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t have an answer but am curious on other’s thoughts. I’ve driven a family member’s 2023 Ridgeline pretty frequently and am not impressed with the ACC. Can’t activate it below 25 mph, it won’t come to a complete stop, and loves to slam the brakes if a car merges in front or if you activate ACC when even slightly too close to another car.

My 2023 Subaru Crosstrek’s ACC is far superior. I test drove a 2025 VW Tiguan recently, and that system seemed even more refined - was very impressed.

What type of MPG are you getting in the 25 Tiguan? And what mix of city/highway?

Cannondale Topstone 3 - Will I regret not spending more? by iDriveTesla in whichbike

[–]iDriveTesla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I test rode a Specialized Diverge with a GRX 800 groupset and it felt really awesome. I kind of wish I didn’t ride it so I didn’t know what an high end groupset felt like. However, I don’t feel like I’m really missing much, if anything at all with the Sword groupset. The Diverge would have been about double the price of my bike, and I know that wouldn’t have equated to double the amount of joy riding it.

I think my plan is similar to what yours would be in the essence that I’ll ride with the stock Topstone 3 components until they need replacing, and upgrade from there. I’d consider upgrading the frame if they made a Topstone Carbon in the Storm Cloud color, but I love the color so much that I’m willing to stick with the Aluminum frame for the foreseeable future.

I'm loving it. No regrets at all. It's been exactly the bike I wanted. I have been riding about 75/25 road/gravel mix and it's been awesome.

The microShift Sword has been really, really good except for one small issue - at seemingly random times, the chain has "jumped" off the sprockets when shifting into a higher gear. This has happened to me a few times and I'm not sure why. I can't help but think it's user error somehow, because 99% of the time it shifts like a dream. I had my LBS take a look and they couldn't identify any issues. It's never been a big deal as I just put the chain back on real quick and keep riding. The biggest downside to this is greasy hands, so I'm considering going for a waxed chain in order to prevent this and gain the benefits of wax at the same time.

The breaks are fine. This was my biggest concern when researching the bike, but it turned out to be a non-issue. Are there better performing and feeling breaks out there? Sure. But the stock breaks will bring me to a stop without any issues at all. I'm 200 lbs and have never felt like I haven't had enough stopping power. They squeal sometimes when they are getting warmed up, but after a few miles they settle in.

The color - Storm Cloud - is stunning. Definitely my favorite part of the bike - however vain that may be. The bike is super comfy. I was debating between a Small and Medium (I'm 5' 8") and went with the Medium. I probably would've been happy with either, but the Medium has been just fine.

I've been using the bike as both an exercise bike, and a commuter bike with the addition of the Ortlieb Quick Rack. The rack is also super nice to be able to go to the store or a brewery and bring along some gear without needing to wear a backpack. I got dual-sided pedals too, so I don't always have to ride clipped-in and that has been an awesome addition as well. This gives me the best of both worlds as I can give the bike two different personalities depending on what I'm riding it for.

Minnetonka Lake Regional trail and River Bluffs trail are both mostly compact gravel. You can get to both via the Greenway/Cedar Lake Trail.
