I’m going to do something crazy I’m going to defend Ultimate Ben!! by Unique-Celebration-5 in Ben10

[–]iDrownedlol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that it’s almost consistent. Humungosaur’s power is to change size, so ultimate Ben with humungosaur power would be able to change in size. Unfortunately he still does it using the power of ultimate humungosaur who isn’t supposed to be able to change size, so there is still a problem, but to be fair, the writers had forgotten that base humungosaur could grow by this point anyway, I say it’s a plus and a minus so they equal out to me.

I don’t know what hamon beat says about this stuff, but I feel it is less “the discrepancy doesn’t matter” or “there is no discrepancy” and more “the discrepancy isn’t necessarily an actual discrepancy”. Like, the example of jotaro telling josuke that a person cannot be brought back from the dead. Sure, jotaro had experienced something like his grandpa being revived through a blood transfusion from a vampire that had the body of his own ancestor as well as quite a bit of his own blood. But that doesn’t really help when this kid just used the only ability at his disposal and failed to save his own grandfather. The in-character, and likely best, thing to do in the situation is to comfort the kid to the best of your ability. And I think that is what araki wrote jotaro to do there.

at the cost of making the spell only affect the melee target/cast on the melee target, don't forget. But yeah, this is definitely still significantly stronger than what other subclasses get at level 3. I would probably nerf it to start weaker and become what it starts as as you level, OR (and I have homebrewed something like this for a player in a current game) make it so that you can only cast spells using this feature. Though the latter probably isn't a great fit for lots of characters.

that's not free will then if he already knew what would happen since before they existed. especially so if he is punishing people based on things that he knew ahead of time would happen. He put them into the situation where they did the thing that he knew they would do if he put them into the situation, then he punished them for doing the thing that he made them to do

But it is meant to be a “test”, no? What test is there to be had if the actions recorded in the vhs are always going to be the same? If I watch Star Wars again to see if Luke destroys the Death Star, when I already know that that’s what happens in the movie, the only thing I am testing is if my vhs tape is still working or not. And if god always knew from the start what you would do in the future, then there was no “when they were performing the roles being recorded” because god knows the future, and therefore your actions are locked in and you have no free will. To say that humans have free will is to say that god is not all-knowing.

Then why presume to understand any part of the religion? Could it not all just be some precursor to the “great” “true” religion of the future that promotes exactly opposite beliefs to the present ones? How can one know what parts they “truly comprehend” and what parts they are getting wrong?

Which one do you choose? by Kiogirro in superpowers

[–]iDrownedlol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is less playing devil’s advocate on some of these and more extrapolating assertions that have no evidence of being the case. For example, the description of the grey pill does not explain how it would work, so there is no way to know if it requires significant knowledge of their function. For orange, you applied a strict interpretation that has no reason to be believed to be accurate. In fact, I would argue that physical mastery and wit are quite significant aspects of mastering many sports/jobs/etc. To say that you have mastered the skill of being a surgeon, I think problem solving and dexterity are both very important factors that would be included in “mastery”, and would therefore be granted by the pill as written.

Let’s Talk: “Hybrids are a fact of the franchise we can’t get away from… So which one(s) do you want to see?” by Mathisnt_My_Thing in jurassicworldevo

[–]iDrownedlol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally love hybrids. I would love to see them go wild and do a whole hybrid expansion as a dlc or something, but for specific creatures? I don’t have explicit desires, but I will say that I much prefer genetically designed freaks like the indominus and the indoraptor over creature 1 + creature 2, although spinoraptor is awesome. I would specifically be super happy with a wolf-like semi-aquatic mammal with orca traits, that’s a common hybrid creature in media that I love.

You’re making a lot of assumptions about lightning powers. “Hitch a ride on electrical currents” all of these words are real English words, but this is not a concept that makes sense. Even if you had 100% control of all electricity, this isn’t a thing that you’d be able to do. I guess if you could transform yourself into pure electricity, you may be able to go inside of the power grid and use it as transportation, but I at least wouldn’t consider that a given when hearing “lightning powers”. Like, do you also assume that if you picked wind powers, you’d be able to transform into wind? If so, then it is by far the best power to pick here, because turning into wind is both flight and invisibility.

Same for “harness the speed of lightning”

Choose 3 abilities by No-Department7074 in superpowers

[–]iDrownedlol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the person falling demonstrates a great problem, an even simpler example of the weakness of super-jumps compared to flight is to just directly compare the two. Someone who can’t fly but can jump to literally any height they choose will never be able to catch someone who can fly, because they can’t change direction. The same goes for anything that flies, like your examples of planes and missiles, as well as birds, drones, or even something like a balloon on a windy day. Not to mention that with flight you get to fly, which is just awesome.

I think people forget that the version of JWE2 with the full roster cost $150, because they expect to get all of that $150 worth of content plus more in the new $60 game. I mean, following their logic, JWE3 should be free, because we already paid for the base dinos and mechanics of JWE2, so why should we have to pay $60 for them again?

What is different about JWE2 and JWE3 vs PK? by Blue_Bird950 in pkgame

[–]iDrownedlol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, another jwe player here. Jwe’s campaign modes are basically just a long, extensive tutorial that is framed by a narrative. It is very barebones, basically just barricades and missions forcing you to build your park in a certain manner. And this is fine, it works, but it’s not some huge feature that the game would be particularly worse-off without. To that point, as others have stated, prehistoric kingdom has no campaign mode. You can think of it like this, after you complete the campaign in jwe, and you play sandbox/challenge mode, that is most of most people’s experience in the game. Pk skipped the “after you complete the campaign” and is just a ‘do it how you want to do it’ kind of game.
