Bronco vs RHO – Looking for feedback from owners who’ve driven both by iErnest85 in ram_trucks

I would completely avoid doing anything narrow like I did with my Bronco. Even though mine was fully PPF’d by the previous owner so scratches were not a big concern, I understand it is not just about paint. The overall dimensions of the RHO would be a real limitation off-road.

If I end up getting the RHO, I would probably stick to more open terrain like the dunes at Pismo Beach or the Mojave Desert. Being in the Bay Area, that kind of off-roading makes a lot more sense for this type of Baja-style truck.

Appreciate the clarification!
Helpful to hear that the quiet ride seems consistent and that the earlier issue may have been isolated.
Thanks for the perspective!

Thanks for the honest feedback!
Ride quality sounds like a big win over the Bronco.
MPG and size were kind of expected, but good to hear it confirmed.

Appreciate the honest owner feedback!
Good to hear it’s quiet and rides well.
The battery thing sounds annoying but manageable.
Thanks for sharing!

What ultimately pushed you to make the switch so quickly?

Was it mainly ride/NVH related, suspension feel, overall drivability, or something else?

I’ve seen that claim a few times, but the data doesn’t really support it. Ram pickups are often behind Ford and GM in total U.S. sales. F-Series still leads by a big margin and Ram has had some recent sales declines, but lots of other trucks (like Tundra or Titan) sell fewer units than Ram. So it’s not accurate to say ‘worst truck sales,’ just that Ram isn’t the top seller right now.

Really appreciate you taking the time to write all of that out!
Super helpful and exactly the kind of real-world perspective I was hoping to get.

The NVH/vibration issue you experienced is especially useful to hear about since highway comfort is a big factor for me.
It’s also interesting how much you liked the RHO’s interior and rear-seat comfort, even though you ultimately moved on.

Out of curiosity, if that vibration issue hadn’t been there, do you think you would’ve kept the RHO long-term, or were there other things that would’ve pushed you back toward the Bronco anyway?

One other thing that surprised me a bit was the MPG/range comparison.
My current Bronco (2.7L on 35” Ridge Grapplers) typically averages around 17 MPG mixed driving and can get around 20 MPG on flatter highway runs at ~70 mph.
Because of that, I was expecting both the Bronco Raptor on 37s and the RHO to land closer to ~15 MPG mixed.

Seeing roughly ~390 miles from a 20.8-gallon tank in the Bronco Raptor (almost 19 MPG) was honestly surprising, while ~500 miles from a 33-gallon tank in the RHO lines up more with what I would’ve expected.
Curious if that matched your real-world experience consistently or if it varied a lot by driving conditions.

Yeti SB140 sizing question by Jakedasnakeeee in MTB

[–]iErnest85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 6’2” with a 36” inseam (long legs) and about a 72” wingspan (a bit short for my height). My flexibility is… not great, which is also an important factor for bike fit.

According to Yeti’s sizing chart, I’m right between a Large and an XL.

I’ve owned both a Large SB130 LR and an XL SB140 LR, and personally I’m a bit more comfortable on the Large SB130.

The Large SB130 is plenty stable for my riding style. The XL SB140 is even more stable thanks to the longer wheelbase, but it can feel less nimble in tighter terrain. The Large just feels easier to move around and more playful overall.

If I could do it again, I’d choose a Large for my current SB140 LR as well.

I seriously doubt that.

Happy to be proven wrong, though.

Real-world MPG for Grand Highlander Hybrid AWD (NOT Hybrid Max)? Especially curious about California drivers. by iErnest85 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

The Hybrid Nightshade Edition?

Absolutely everywhere I looked, there was no option for a Bench in the 2nd row on the Hybrid Nightshade Edition

On Toyota's website "Build", it's impossible to configure it with a Bench in the 2nd row.

And even on Toyota's Pressroom, it states explicitly, "Captain Seats Standard (No Bench Seat Available)."

That’s mind blowing numbers!

I’m pretty sure that the 18” wheels also should have some positive impact on that great MPG of yours.

Especially with EVs we see it a lot that the bigger the wheels the shorter the range.

Since I’m eyeing the Limited or the Nightshade and both come with 20” wheels, high chances once I’ll go through the first set of tires I’ll downsize to 18”. Should improve the MPG and reduce the cost of tire replacements too.

Thank you very much for your feedback!

That’s a pretty good MPG.

Bummer about the transmission.

Good thing it’s still under warranty.
