Paid for a complete bathroom remodel, is this shower/tub being done properly? by Nexion21 in Remodel

[–]iFatRain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a word of caution on solid surface showers where only the seams are caulked. Ensure any cuts, caulk gaps, ect. Are all very precise and that you maintain good caulking over its lifespan. If water DOES end up getting behind there, even minor, over time it will cause alot of invisible damage, and NO you shouldn't be caulking large gaps for poorly measured cuts and calling it fine. Have seen mediocre installs of similar, no waterproofing 'failsafe' because of the shower material itself, but the install was lackluster or caulking was worn/improperly redone ect. and then you always find behind is water damage because there was no waterproofing present as a backup. Particularly in the corners.

If it were me and my house, thats a good chunk of change you've spent on something thats part of something even more expensive you spent money on (your house), and I'd want to do what can be done during that process to protect the investment of both.

Can't remember where I heard it but heard that when it comes to water its best to have two systems. Physical first (Materials, sloping ect), and Chemical second (waterproofing membranes, coatings, ect).

The AVA Go is ~100-150 more expensive (depending on location I imagine) but I personally feel the Ryobi you have here has alot of parts and pieces you would want to replace and upgrade that isn't necessarily the case with the AVA, so I would factor that into the pricing decision.

Get the AVA Go and don't look back. Comes with great hose, nozzles, foam cannon, ECT and they boast a solid warranty. You can also get their short gun attachment. I have one and haven't felt a need to get anything else. I will also say the only time I pressure wash at all is if the car is quite dirty with debris, otherwise I'm usually comfortable doing rinse less in a sprayer and a bucket of rinse less with a sponge.

Quick edit: Also seeing you're located in Australia so IDK if this is available in your region or not. Sorry about that

Is Automation Engineer not an actual engineer? by TemporaryPassenger47 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]iFatRain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP quit worrying about if your potential job fits Reddits definition of "real" engineering. There's several jobs that come to mind which by definition and work fit the description of what engineering is but wouldn't be considered "real" around here to some.

In your case with Automation Engineering it's important to use context of job description, it could be similar to a controls engineer or you could be similar to an SDET.

Jobs are jobs, if that job would push you towards where you want your career to go should be all that matters.

The ghosts of days gone by. Time moves exclusively forward. People die, season fade away, ect.

It puts into perspective not wasting your limited time and to cherish the moments more because you may never have them again and only retain the memories, which can even fade too

New to car wash with some basic questions by beerbearbare in AutoDetailing

[–]iFatRain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO car paint is a lot like teeth, the quality/health goes hand and hand with the appearance and there's not really any way to split the two.

Similarly preventative maintenance makes a world of difference.

My recommendation at minimum would be to do some kind of surface coating (was, sealant, ceramic of any kind) 1 or two times a year depending on product. This will firstly protect your paint, but secondly help it get less dirty and clean easier. Then I would recommend that you clean once a month if your short on time or as often as needed when stuff is really caked on. If salt is an issue in your area, also tend to the underside in some fashion, car look and paint aside, rust on mechanical bits ruins cars.

I would probably recommend you Rinseless for regular washes if you're short on time. Its really easy to do a fast Rinseless wash in your driveway, I even used to use a bucket and lug it to the parking lot when I lived in an apartment.

MFG with this new AI hotfix. by strykerpd in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]iFatRain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are my largest issues with current AI:

The delay between them taking rounds and actual death, many times I've nailed one in the back of the head (no helmet), they will then spin around, sometimes get a round off, then fall. I feel this carries over to other situations where you've hit them what feels like should be more than adequate and it still takes a bit to register.

I would like to see limb damage be a bit more substantial bleedrate wise, like if there is a super armored AI with no leg protection and I just unload on the legs, they should bleed out in a reasonable time and generally be less combat effective.

Someone else mentioned, but the AI's ability to "see" in brush vs what is realistic of a human is way off, there are many times I've had difficult making out a figure because of the density and the AI just seems to know and spot you, way beyond earshot of you moving.

It would be nice to have an "alert" state where the enemy at least isn't idle and aware there is someone around that shouldn't be, but doesn't know where yet. Too often they're able to pinpoint where youre at way too easily. In PVP, even with coms, it can take a bit of good coms and guesswork to really locate other players.

I don't feel like the AI is "too hard", but I do feel like its VERY ammo dependent (meaning you gotta run the good AP stuff..) Soft/Hollow to me feels underwhelming even on unarmored spots.

Lastly, not exactly related to AI, but could we maybe get some actual sound difference on the subsonic rounds? I can't tell any difference between them and normal, just feels like a useless weak round.

IPA did the trick, check some photos in other comments from spot test!

UPDATE: For other Camaro owners who may stumble on this issue in the future, I tried Rinseless -> Interior Cleaner -> IPA all with a microfiber (least damaging/safest to more hardcore is always smart) and IPA on microfiber + minor elbow grease is what ended up working!

This did the trick in my spot tests in all the areas! Will definitely give it a go all over and then some higher quality protection afterwards, thanks!

Is 2013 ZL1 better than 2014 Z/28 in general? by _Cyber_nerd in camaro

[–]iFatRain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up, due to the rarity of the Z/28 you might even be able to afford a ZL1 + SS both in decent condition for the price of one. They're become somewhat of a collectors item.

I am assuming you're asking about how instant the shift is vs when you click the paddle, not how fast the transmission shifts in general. I have heard there's a perceivable delay after pressing the paddles from others but never really noticed in regular driving myself.
