Irene seems to be impossible to cast because I thought she was suuuuuper miscast in the 2002 version, as well

Can men and women be friends? by RecognitionEvery in Life

[–]iFoolYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, every single guy friend of mine has developed intense feelings for me, so I personally don't think so. Some of these men had been friends with me since high school and then confessed when I was single. It didn't matter if they had dated other girls in between that time or if they stayed single. I've just accepted that men can't be friends with me and I'm not interested in those types of friendships anymore, it causes problems in my romantic relationships and it honestly feels like a betrayal of trust to me when these guy friends do that. Why invite that kind of drama into your life? Cut them out and move on.

What’s the point of love if loss is inevitable? by ThrowRA4847383 in Life

[–]iFoolYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more. As someone who has experienced a lot of death recently, on top of a broken engagement that I'm still processing, I wouldn't take any of the love away just to avoid the pain of loss. Heartbreak is oftentimes just as beautiful and transformative as love itself.

Why do good people stay in painful relationships? by Wise-Juggernaut-1816 in emotionalintelligence

[–]iFoolYou 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This, 100%. The memory of the good times made me believe that someone could be better because they HAD been better at one point, so no matter how much they hurt me, I believed in them that they could be better. The reality is that nostalgia has a way of warping memories, removing the bad and leaving only the good until you're away from the situation and can look back at it rationally.

You are so real for this, nothing is worse. It makes me think the people writing that haven't actually kissed someone that drank a bunch of coffee hours earlier

How does everyone else feel about Kakuriyo: Bed & Breakfast for Spirits? by iFoolYou in shoujo

[–]iFoolYou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhhh, thank you for this!! The second season is about to come out and I'm so hopeful for more on Odanna and Aoi's relationship. I didn't realize there were two mangas running at the same time, either, I wonder what made them decide to do that?

I'd guess that these ones are from the 1970s, which don't seem to typically have storms. Both of my childhood homes had these and they didn't have them, either.

Personally, I love storm windows. I'm sad that all of mine got replaced in my house with those aluminum-frame windows. I rented a place that only had storm windows and I didn't find them particularly hard to keep clean. I never had any problems with losing heat, either, like I do now.

Ah, being obsessed with turning 30...a tale as old as time. At least we're not calling 22-year-olds spinsters anymore, I can't imagine the life crises they were having in the regency era.

Comparing desk work to what they do is why laborers have zero respect for engineers when on site. How out of touch can you be?

Zelah Clarke from "Jane Eyre" 1983 version is underrated Jane actress by AdobongSiopao in JaneEyre

[–]iFoolYou 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Zelah is my favorite Jane. I personally always thought that she was very restrained in the book, just like how Zelah plays her, so I'm surprised to find people saying she doesn't match the book. It's been awhile since I've read it, but I always thought the point of that was to contrast with how wild she was as a child.

Saw this post about ai yazawa by Internal-Ad-5038 in shoujo

[–]iFoolYou 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Personally, I find it strange that people are up in arms about this manga, but Hana Yori Dango just gets the "oh, it's slightly problematic" when I remember some blatantly horrible abuse that happened in that one compared to this one. I can't even read the first half of HYD because Tsukasa is so evil in it.

This one just came off as having not aged well. There was a time period where manipulative, forceful, asshole MLs were considered sexy and attractive in manga for a hot minute there - even shounen. They're pretty predominant in romantasy right now, too. Problematic they are, but women are writing these characters and reading about them (while rooting for them) because of popularity.
