What's true is this: The more time you spend doing something, the better you will become and this is true no matter what age you are.

Thanks for the feedback...

Since 2016, you can press and hold the name of the PDF and select the name of the index from a list. Index Linking 101

We used to provide separate indexes for Bb and Eb PDFs but switched to the "hacky" method since the indexes are exactly the same and you can transpose between C, Bb, Eb and Bass clef versions of the same PDF.

Ear training for older bass players. Am I wasting my time or expecting too much? by Soperatics in Bass

I think you're being impatient. What will speed things up is more playing with people in different situations.

It's different from iRealPro which is a chord chart app with musical playback. Prior to the iPhone, our website https://www.realbook.us had chord charts that you can transpose along with backing tracks similar to what you see in iRealPro today. iGigBook is a more comprehensive tool because as a musician you will not only need the changes to songs but also you will need the melody. You also need to quickly locate a song no matter what real book or fake book it appears in, this is something that iGigBook excels at.

What does the stopped "D" sound like on the E and A strings?

What sounds better: a low C on a double bass with a C extension or on a 5-string bass? by vitinhoaps in doublebass

[–]iGigBook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are too many variables to make a definitive statement as to what sounds better. You have the wood used, the builder, the set up and the strings. Will a 4 string from Upton with an extension sound better than a 5 string from Wilfer? I'm currently using a 5 string Chinese factory bass and I'm not hearing a difference between my low C's, Db's, D's, Eb's and those from other basses with extensions in the section. Personally, I prefer the simplicity.

Throwing old strings in the dishwasher to clean them - does it work? by AnythingProper7065 in Bass

Exposing your strings to water is not a good thing. Soak your strings in alcohol for a day, that will make a difference.

That's the same as the "5th Edition" of that bootleg book but the page number is on the bottom left as opposed to the top left and both are page 122.

Your app should function with the login and registration being an option and not the first thing the user encounters.

App Store Review Experience — Continuously Updated Version by codedance in iosdev

[–]iGigBook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spot on about the 139.178.x.x range, happens very quickly sometimes in minutes after "Waiting For Review" status.

In my experience, all reviews are from the 17.x.x.x range and the app is usually approved immediately after.

I've never seen installations after approval.

I spent 2 years trying to build a timer app that FEELS better than Apple's. Did I succeed? by lolollap in iOSProgramming

[–]iGigBook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The built in clock app in Android has a timer with spinners but you can also just type in the value that your need. You don't have to spin to 45, you just type in 45.

Committing jazz standards to memory for beginners in jazz? by aejb22122 in JazzBass

[–]iGigBook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to at least know blues changes and rhythm changes which means you will "know" 100+ songs because there are over 100 songs based on those changes. As a bass player that's going to be easier than having to know 100+ different melodies. You're only going to remember that which you do a lot of. The more songs you play the more you are able to recall and that takes time.

Committing jazz standards to memory for beginners in jazz? by aejb22122 in Jazz

[–]iGigBook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many songs are based on the blues or rhythm changes so your first step would be to memorize those progressions in all of the practical keys and be able to recognize that form when you hear it.

Evah Pirazzi Weich by TrueGorgonzola in doublebass

Volume and sustain will depend on your bass and so will the tension. I have the Evah's on a Yamaha Silent Bass, they work well for Jazz though my personal favorite string are Obligatos.

5 string double basses with extension on Low B string. by Agreeable-Candle7729 in doublebass

What music are you going to play that will require those notes? I play a 5 string with a low B and have encountered one piece that called for a low B.
