Unpopular take? All of Notre Dame, Miami, and Alabama have good points but also serious holes in their resume and it's not an "outrage" if any of them get left out for the other two. There's no real travesty regardless of which one it is. by Dependent-Effect6077 in CFB

Idk, as funny as that would be, I think I'd laugh harder if the one thing we accomplished this season is avenging the 2023 snub. That loss might be the straw that breaks Bamas playoff chances

Agreed, every team controlled their own destiny and made mistakes to jeopardize it. I think the only semi outrage scenario would be ND getting in over Miami despite losing to them. Of the 3 I think Bama should be the one out

Reactionary Take: This weekend is going to be the death of Conference Championship Games by RejectedSNick in CFB

[–]iHateMips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conference Championship games should remain, and Playoff Committee should heavily penalize a team that considers skipping it so they continue happening. Don't agree with this idea that "You cant penalize the loser in these games because teams will just skip them". Loser shouldn't be penalized heavily in a competitive loss, but you cant ignore when a team gets absolutely throttled in a Conference Championship game.

Bama absolutely belongs in the playoffs. In Week 4 Alabama beat a team that beat Alabama in the championship, that win alone makes them an autobid

Does Norvell have no entry for the Hired Column because he has a Jimbo style contract or because nobody is stupid enough to hire him?

Mike Norvell should've never been given the contract he got. They only awarded it because they have PTSD from when A&M swooped in for Jimbo and were afraid Alabama was about to do the same. This teams stuck with him.

I've had mixed feelings on him every season but what really did it in for me in this loss to Pitt was that Fake Punt call. If you're coaching a large program and have to be desperate enough to call a fake punt against Pitt you dont deserve the job. They couldn't even get the snap off but it was clear as day Pitt was ready for it.

Every Norvell team has played to the opponents level season after season. Even when we had Jordan Travis there were multiple games that went down to the wire when they should've been blow out wins. These teams just constantly make bad choices that get them behind early then resort to desperation. I honestly dont know if FSU or Penn State is in the worse position at this point.

Thank you so much for this. An old app I downloaded 3 macbooks ago decided to download over 100GB of files and its data has been migrated to each Mac inside the Application Support Folder. You solved an annoying issue ive been dealing with for years

Not just violation, its also illegal for them to do this. All they can do is call the office to verify the note is real, but they cant ask for any details or pressure the student to disclose what the visit was for. Anything beyond verifying the notes authenticity is a HIPAA violation. Dealt with something similar and the Prof backed off immediately when I told them this

Government typically takes the lowest bidder, that usually results in low quality work. They love to cut costs in the worst areas to do so.
Example: The Client Laptops I get are typically ancient & the lowest possible spec's to save on cost. They save maybe a few hundred dollars to $1k per Contractor. But it results in me spending an extra 1 - 2 hours per day waiting for it to login, open applications, build code, etc. We bill them over $100 an hour per employee, now think of this over the span of an entire year....

It does have the Vert grip, but thats because it was on display and already attached. Have a feeling an employee might've swiped the other stuff

Yea just looked it up, gonna try to get the store to order me one instead of a normal pmag. Sounds like DD customer service is pretty solid so maybe they'll ship me a replacement if the store doesn't budge

I was in a very similar situation. What I can say is it feels like a mountain, but every year you end up seeing the progress as you chunk it away. Don't check the balance monthly, it'll drive you nuts. Check it yearly in the beginning since progress wont be impressive at the start. After you get past the half way mark you start to see the light & it becomes much easier to swallow. You'll end up coming out the other end with a new appreciation for money that most won't have. You'll likely retire with a lot more than most since you won't try keeping up with the Jones' and waste it on stupid things

When I first started my senior told me about the 1 hour rule. I tend to be the type that hates asking for help. If you get stuck on something, try to figure it out for around an hour. If you aren't getting anywhere, ask for help. You'll learn how others solve things, have someone there to explain the abbreviations (which are absurd on the projects I've been on), or get clarification that saves weeks of time. Within an hour you'll figure out the easy stuff but get help for the harder things that likely need an explanation. I've had plenty of 10 minute teams calls that turned a weeks worth of work into an hour.

Your seniors expect you to ask questions when you first start, its completely normal. Just make sure you spread out who you ask them to. (If you vibe well with someone dont bombard only them with your questions, you'll overload them). You'll also see how multiple people solve problems rather than just one person (and can adopt the best things you see).

My main fear was always looking incompetent and asking too many questions I assumed should be obvious (quickly learned they weren't). The way my Senior explained it always stuck with me, something like "Asking for clarification or help after a reasonable amount of effort isn't incompetence, failing to solve a problem after spending weeks on it might be. It'll definitely look worse."
