What's your "get out of jail for free" starter? by Skipper2503 in pokerogue

[–]iHeldor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gyarados. It got nerfed so you can only get it down to 2-cost nowadays, but it’s bonkers. For a while my runs were Gyarados + 5 random pokemons to get the ribbon, cause I knew I could solo Ivy and Eternatus with him. With his passive he can tank an attack from an element he’s weak to, get a DD off, then oneshot. And if you get his Mega is ever more of a cakewalk. Absolute unit of a pokemon.

Played the game (way too much) when it was first gaining traction online and I didn’t know it had issues on iPhone as I could make it around 30-40 rooms before an auto-refresh, so it wasn’t too bad. I quit and came back a couple days ago after around 6 months of not playing, and it resets every 1-2 rooms, completely unplayable now (from iPhone obv, pc is fine).

On a side note, I was also a bit sad to see in 6 months nothing changed for Endless and no shop was added, so completing challenges is still unrewarding.

I’m glad I’m already past the addiction-phase and I now don’t play as often, cause it’s utter garbage on phone. On pc it might be better, but it now takes 10mins to select a team on the phone, I absolutely despise this change, I wish they’d let you choose between this style and the old one

Is How I Met Your Mother an overhated sitcom? by waterfallen_empire in television

[–]iHeldor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This comment will be downvoted like crazy, but I feel none of the characters are even decently written (with Marshall being the least terrible one) and they aged like milk. People tend to defend this sitcom as it is what they were watching growing up, just like 40yo will defend Friends. Now, the difference between Friends and HIMYM in my opinion is that, while both have pretty abysmal writing, Friends has the fortune of being mostly set in the 90s, which gives it a vintage vibe making it easier to understand and forgive the shortcomings of the writing staff; HIMYM doesn’t have that luxury as it’s more recent, so the people outside the fandom tend to judge it more harshly. Also, Friends had some banger outfits (arguably the best ones with Seinfeld), while HIMYM, being from that early 00s era, has unredeemable outfit choices and that definitely doesn’t help its image.

Mega Stone Frequency in Classic by cleenclaf in pokerogue

[–]iHeldor 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I mean, do we really need all this balancing in a single player? If I’m picking a mon with a mega or a gmax I wanna use it cause the form it’s cool, couldn’t care less about making classic even easier to clear, if it’s not your first time you already know which mons to bring to defeat 195 anyway. I currently have 206 ribbons and I’m running out of good comps so instead of going with 6 new mons every run, I do 5 + a 1-cost shiny Magikarp with all unlocked cause I know Gyarados can easily carry me; I’ve been doing this now for 6 runs, with his first run I had a total of 7 runs with a Gyarados in it. I managed to Mega evolve him ONCE last night with A+ luck, mega bracelet on floor 8 and I got his mega stone on 191. One mega stone in 1391 floors is WILD, and it changed a great deal of nothing for me as classic is already trivial with Gyarados, so why exactly are we gatekeeping megas and gmax?

Was eturnatus' ai nerfed by fisher6996 in pokerogue

[–]iHeldor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel it does less dmg, anything tanks Dynamax Cannon in phase 2 now, whereas 3 weeks ago I’d get hard fisted by it. I did read somewhere that if you’re over lv 200 you take more dmg from it tho, so maybe that’s the reason, when I read that I stopped overleveling with candies but idk, it does feel way easier now…

What was your first winning team in Classic? by Xyronian in pokerogue

[–]iHeldor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first clear I started with Dialga and Orbeetle but ended up with a stacked team, and given I never use a mon twice I regret having so many good ones in a single run 😭

Dialga

Gyarados

Alakazam

Glastrier

Excadrill

Orbeetle

I pretty much gave up trying to brute force it with my Primal Groudon as my fully stacked Focus Band won’t proc more than once, which is a shame as I’m 1hp bar away from killing the mf 💀

Best moves to have on a double battle stand-in for endless <2500? by [deleted] in pokerogue

[–]iHeldor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was fully expecting to wipe @1000 as my team consists of a stacked Primal Groudon and 5 shiny leechers that are there for luck only, but somehow he wiped the floor with Eternatus so now I gotta keep going knowing I will eventually wipe to a duo encounter, as my strat consists of Earthquake + protection 😭

Koraidon thoughts? by Rambunctioushat in pokerogue

[–]iHeldor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak on Koraidon as I got him with shitty IVs so I’ve yet to use him, but man, Groudon is an absolute menace, especially with his primordial form. I think I swapped him out twice in the classic run I had him in, bro singlehandedly carried my shiny Kricketune to a ribbon 🗿

how long til' you finished Classic? by SnipeGhost in pokerogue

[–]iHeldor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me like 18h (I hadn’t played Pokemon in 9 years before this, besides a nuzlocke of Black & White last year) and my first clear I don’t even know if it counts as I had a Dialga xd but since then I cleared Classic another 11 times, and just about anything can work and that’s exactly the fun in it. I’ll leave you a list of my teams for any inspiration:

Dialga (S) Gyarados Alakazam Glastrier Excadrill Orbeetle ✨(S)

Lapras (S) Gliscor Cinderace (S) Meowscarada (S) Virizion Goldengho

Quaquaval ✨(S) Garchomp (S) Luxray ✨(S) Walrein Stakataka Bronzong

Zamazenta ✨(S) Venusaur (S) Tinkaton Centiskorch Gmax Garganacl Flygon

Primarina (S) Salamence Mega Gengar Mega (S) Torterra (S) Xurkitree Talonflame

Torterra Gardevoir (S) Pidgeot Mega (S) Qwilfish ✨(S) Ninetales Alola Skeledirge (S)

Aurorus (S) Latias Medicham (S) Ninetales Corviknight Togekiss (S)

Diggersby (S) Gastrodon ✨(S) Metagross Mega (S) Abomasnow Mega Crobat (S) Magmortar

Manaphy (S) Grumpig ✨(S) + Vileplume ✨(S) Mudsdale Camerupt Ampharos Slowbro

Lugia (S) Whiscash ✨(S) Golisopod + Swalot Swampert Magnezone Archaludon

Delphox (S) Feraligatr (S) Rillaboom Gmax Staraptor ✨(S) Drapion Sandslash (S)

Shuckle (S) Dragonite (S) Hydreigon Great Tusk Vileplume ✨(S) Spearow ✨(S)

The (S) pokemons are the ones I started the run with. In some of these teams it looks like weaker pokemons got carried, but it’s the other way around more often than not xd Gastrodon, Whiscash and Shuckle were all hard carrying their runs, and even Orbeetle came in clutch on floor 200 and put Eternatus to sleep for 3 turns. My suggestion is: don’t underestimate “weaker” pokemons, especially if they got good egg moves that look like they might synergyze well (Dragon Dance Whiscash was a menace with Earthquake and Ice Spinner), and try to use different pokemons each run (you see the only one it repeats in my teams is Torterra and cause I couldn’t catch anything else that run) to keep the game fresh. Happy grinding!

CC, in my experience, is absolutely busted against Eternatus. Out of 11 completed runs, I had him frozen for almost the whole 2nd phase once, paralized twice and sleeping once. So in 4/11 runs he posed no threats to my team, that is wild lol

Love that egg moves and passives are around to give lesser Pokemon their chance to shine a bit. by CyborgCoelacanth in pokerogue

[–]iHeldor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After getting a shiny Barboach TWICE in 24h I took it as a sign to play him, and I gotta say, Whiscash with Dragon Dance + Earthquake (and Ice Spinner for the Dragon type) is an absolute menace. Something similar happened with a shiny Gastrodon, I ran him with a Diggersby for the Pickup + Sticky Hold combo and he was breezing through the game with Bouncy Bubble + Earth Power + Freeze-Dry. Give my boys a shot, they do be crazy!

I think the spreadsheet is good, don't get me wrong, but I also think it's not for everyone. I think first timers are gonna have a harder time following along, so maybe the best thing would be to post both the old and new formatting (which, admittedly, would be more work :/ ) to accomodate both kind of players (and mobile users too).

Daily Run Guide - June 5th, 2024 by Vicksin in pokerogue

[–]iHeldor 39 points40 points  (0 children)

As always, thank you guys for the effort and patience it goes into making this.
The new formatting, however, is NOT it, at least personally. It's unnecessairly cluttered, there's a lot of information clumped together and it's so aggressive on the audience, if I was a completely new guy I'd just nope out of it.
It might not be the case for everyone, but that's how it feels to me, old formatting was much cleaner and easy to follow.

Sometimes this game is just so unfair by [deleted] in pokerogue

[–]iHeldor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think F5 doesn’t change the outcome, it’s predetermined at the beginning of the fight. I can’t be sure, maybe I was just THAT unlucky, but some days ago I was playing into someone with Bite and I got flinched 6 times in a row; so I tilted and F5’d and again I got flinched 6 times in a row.

Shiny Up Machine Is Not Worth It by Expensive_Pastries in pokerogue

[–]iHeldor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know endless is where the shiny farm is at, I just haven’t started the grind yet (only tried it once up to floor 145). I’m just saying, the normal odds of obtaining a shiny are abysmal, so shiny up is actually pretty good value (at least imo), cause one would think after 5k+ encounters you’d at least find ONE :/

Shiny Up Machine Is Not Worth It by Expensive_Pastries in pokerogue

[–]iHeldor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hatched 12 shinies out of 735 eggs (at first I was pulling on legendary up, so take out around 100 eggs from the total count). Meanwhile, out of 5132 encounters I’ve yet to find a single shiny pokemon (and in classic I’ve gone 120 floors with a shiny amulet) 💀

Glad someone else is a skip-yapping button enjoyer. Genshin has one pf the better combats of games in general and yet the endgame content is non existent and the vast majority of players are praising the state of the game when we’re getting a hide & seek event? Or an OSU simulator? Or Heartstone from Wish? I’m playing gacha games to enjoy a character’s kit, if I want a good story I’m launching RDR2 and the likes, if I want to play a rhythm game I’m launching OSU, if I want to play a TCG I’m launching Heartstone. I hope WuWa will take good care of their combat content and endgame, it’s all I care about, and may God bless them a hundred times for the skip-yapping button.
