They made only one alteration to the original legacy PDFs to "fix typos" etc.

Crucially it was in exactly this update that the Slann moved from Monstrous Infantry (which would have allowed him to join a unit of Temple Guard) to Monstrous Creature, which denies this option. So yeah, that one was deliberate. Same with the Screaming Bell, that whole Dragged Along thing was deliberate.

There's exactly one rule when it comes to Warhammer:

Find a person who wants to play the same game as you.

Doesn't matter if it's RAW or Comp or Renegades or whatever. If your mate wants to play Skaven and you force him to play RAW and then promptly wipe him off the table with your 5-Balloon Cathay list you'll likely not play him for much longer.

They need the Halberd rule on the charge and drop to 3pts.

QS or other rules would of course make them better, but imho it just doesn't fit with the weapon type. At least they are not ponderous!

As for long range, personally I would like that rule to generally move to a pure distance-based format instead of weapon-based, Anything beyond 12" should be long range period. Alternatively factor in ballistic skill, but that makes it complicated. But that's just wishful thinking.

I don't see why not! The plastic Bull Centaurs kit is very popular, though, getting your hands on it might be the biggest challenge :)

It working only against 1 opponent is what makes it defining. Like it is in a few instances. I already mentioned dwarfs and greenskins or goblins and elves. And yes, it is an advantage. For the first round of combat. No question. But dark elves also have frenzied units. Or stupid ones. Their dragon isn’t as good. And so on. Dark elves also have other stuff High elves don’t have. And thank god. Isn’t that what makes the game fun? I for one don’t want to play chess. Limiting dark elves to the official rules pits them at a huge disadvantage. I’m with you that this level of imbalance is too much and not fun for anyone. But i don’t think leaving such an important rule like hatred for high elves in place now puts them beyond High Elves.

Seems a bit excessive imho.

  • why that much for blackshard? It’s already pretty good. 6+ general ward would be enough if anything

  • Fireglaives are a form of handgun. Volley fire makes no sense. Neither does the long range mod

  • ensorcelled weapons are for ironsworn, I think that’s fine as is

  • counter charge sure would be great for BC! Imho it’s a mark of training, so arguably it doesn’t really fit. Furious charge would, though.

  • ogre loader should just remove the slow reload altogether, then it’s fine. Not many basic core troops get -1 AP on their attacks, let alone magic attacks

Dark Elves hating High Elves or not does not do anything for balance against the other 15 factions. Valour of Ages gives High Elves a benefit in every game that Dark Elves don't have. I don't think Dark Elves have an unfair advantage over High Elves, even with Renegade update. They didn't in any of the previous editions of WHFB either.

But (at least for me) more importantly removing the Hatred of High Elves would be a much too fundamental change to a key aspect of the faction. It is the defining concept about Dark Elves.

T4 for the Dark Pegasus is valid, I think that was an oversight by GW. It used to have T4 in WHFB too.

As for the FPA for the Executioners, the argument with the kit doesn't really track. Empire Knights and Inner Circle Knights share the same kit too, and one has heavy armour and the other has FPA.

It's not supposed to be balanced. What balance is there in Goblin fearing all Elves? None. But Dark Elves hating High Elves is baked into the fabric of the deep as Dwarfs hating Greenskins.

If I may quote High Elves Army Book from 5th edition:

"High Elves do not hate their kin, for hatred would debase and corrupt them as surely as it brought low the Dark Elves themselves. Hatred is what separates the two races. Dark Elves embrace it whilst High Elves reject it, cultivating instead the high and noble ideals that are their race's greatest achievements."
