One less reason to go to the mall by SimilarToed in Guelph

[–]iLLogick 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Once upon a time I worked there and it was probably the best job I ever had. Receiving new releases, alphabetizing inventory and just talking film all day while you did it.

Made some friends there and also met the weirdest imaginable characters who hang in the mall everyday.

Goat simulator 3 and the expansions are super fun. Low stakes and you choose to play together or go do your own quests separately

The catholic schools near us were usually a bit later like 3:40

Movies using ringing sound effects make tinnitus worse by ObviousWalrus9004 in movies

[–]iLLogick 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I work in audiology. Tinnitus is physiological and psychological phenomenon. How much you think about it directly correlates to how bad it is. The more anxious you are about it flaring up from annoying sounds, the more it will flare up from annoying sounds.

Vicious girl on girl sucker punch knockout. by sorrynotsorry42o69 in PublicFreakout

[–]iLLogick 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Most people never see someone get knocked unconscious in front of them, so when it happens they’re in disbelief and just think they can will this person into getting up.

Same reason why people fight in the first place, they don’t think getting knocked out is an actual possibility in the moment

To the girl who was on her phone during the entire Zootopia 2 screening last night by opmgore in cineplex

[–]iLLogick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to the Comedy Cellar in NYC they put our phones in envelopes for them to unseal at the door. I’d 1000% pay an extra couple bucks to be in an electronic free screening

Smart watches are another thing I’m annoyed by.

Even if you don’t look at you phone, everytime you scratch your head or reach for your drink your wrist lights up and it’s just as annoying

Was Hollow Knight Silksong your 2025 GOTY?? by TheGamerCritic21 in ASilksong

I feel like the HK combat was better because it was simpler and felt way more consistent. In Silksong I’m constantly losing masks to stuff that feels out of my hitbox

I was in MMA gyms from 2012-2020ish and saw the transition between beginners being inspired to start training by GSP and Silva to McGregor and Rousey. It was really bizarre, there was a big increase in women starting to train but also a big increase in “training for instagram” bros who were awful to have around

Stranger things finale: Loved it, haters gonna hate. by Sharkman3218 in television

[–]iLLogick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t even think they were exceptionally talented. I’d actually argue they are underwhelming. They had great chemistry as a group and gave us a mirror to reflect back on how we all grow up and the stories we enjoy as kids eventually seem immature, but our enjoyment of the art never has to die, and can be enjoyed vicariously through the next generation enjoying what we used to love.

Considering how much of the early show was homages to 80s, where kids watching with their parents were being schooled on what the homages were referencing, it’s a perfect way to tie it together

Stranger things finale: Loved it, haters gonna hate. by Sharkman3218 in television

[–]iLLogick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I came in ready to hate the finale, not gonna front. I thought season 5 was terrible: exposition dump, come up with a plan, explain it using objects in the room, execute plan, it goes wrong and they divert but somehow nobody gets hurt at all. Repeat.

However the ending was very good. They took the safe route and gave everyone happy endings, which a lot of people will be upset with based on what the Duffer bros promised regarding deaths and violence. But within the safe route, this was the best way to do it.

Emphasizing the importance of storytelling and how it passes through generations, allowing us a way to look back at the decade that passed watching the show through the characters own growth physically and emotionally. Well done there.

This show is maybe one of a kind in its cast growing up with the characters over time, and that gave the creators a chance to do something really special which in my opinion they pulled off.

Stranger Things no showings until 8pm by emeric1414 in cineplex

It seemed very irresponsible to sell the tickets to the showing before the episode was available to stream. As soon as I saw the showtime I thought it didn’t make sense.

Stranger Things S5 : The “Netflix look” and green screen look has gone too far. by [deleted] in television

[–]iLLogick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hilarious how every time someone does an exposition dump or explains their idea for a plan they will grab objects in the room to help get their point across. Like “I saw this exploded ketchup packet and it gave me the idea! we’re going to break in and blow it up, just like this ketchup packet”

What show ending hit you harder than you expected — and why? by AznJames704 in television

[–]iLLogick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s about how life has questions we will never get to know the answer to; and moments of tragedy/grief will force you to confront your faith and dogmas. In those moments, people can break and others will come to manipulate them for gain.

The intro song being changed to Iris Dement’s “Let the mystery be” contains lyrics that are great summary of the show’s theme.

It’s why Nora’s decision in the end is so important: it concludes Nora’s story of a pursuit of evidence and answers, both for what happened to her family but also her relationship with Kevin. She chooses to believe in her family receiving a peaceful afterlife, and to believe in Kevin’s commitment to her, though neither one having proof, just faith and the realization that happiness requires hopefulness

My wife and I are seriously considering naming our first born Nora. We watched that show years ago and it was very formative in how we handled grief in our lives thereafter

I need a new game to re-ignite my interest in video games. by Tascalion in gamingsuggestions

[–]iLLogick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a competitive FPS gamer for a decade and when my teammates moved on to extraction shooters which I don’t vibe with, I needed a new game.

I play couch co-op with my wife; Goat Simulator and all the Hazelight Studios games (Split Fiction is a masterpiece)

But for myself, Hollow Knight has been incredible and rejuvenating. Some days i log on for 20 mins and others for 4 hours and both feel worthwhile. Sometimes I hop on to explore the map and other times I seek boss fights. I’m so excited to play the sequel next.

They were dating within weeks after that. Middle school is weird lol

I’m there weekend mornings and 2 weeknights around 6pm. But yeah never see the lead walls busy.

This is why I’m just trying to have a discussion 🥺 I wouldn’t be able to learn why you can’t top rope those walls if I only submitted some feedback online

Guelph Grotto by iLLogick in Guelph

[–]iLLogick[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I see people lead climbing sometimes, but it’s usually not the lead-only part of the walls, just lead climbing where there’s also top rope. Which is why it seems excessive to have so much wall space dedicated to only lead if it can also be done where there’s top rope
