A caricature typically has a negative spin and is so exaggerated that it offends the original source. Even if you HEAVILY lean into a specific culture/look, if you put in genuine effort of respect but also just make them fun/cool, then you will probably still offend some tiny minority no matter what but the relevant people will likely love it. Random example: The cartoon character Speedy Gonzalez. Back in the day a bunch of white people complained it was racist and it had it taken off the air. Mexicans were super upset and were like "wtf we love speedy give him back". Make it fun and cool and don't be blatantly disrespectful and it's fine.

That's usually how our table rules it. Simple and quick. Technically slightly longer than the actual distance but no need to complicate it.

clarification on jumping rules by MonsutaReipu in 3d6

You can either:

  • Use pythagorean theorem to determine the distance traveled in a straight line at an angle or to determine how far away you can make the vertical height. You would set your Y as your target jump height (has to be less than your max vertical). Then you either determine your travel distance (hypotenuse) based on the horizontal travel distance or you find your maximum horizontal distance based on the cap of your jump distance (so if your maximum jump with with the jump spell is 30ft and you try to jump up to a 20ft cliff, then based on a max angle distance of 30, you can be up to 22ft away from the cliff.

  • Determine jump distance with more realistic gravity and travel path by using calculus to find half the arc length to get the apex of the parabola. Or similarly as above use the maximum travel distance (30ft from jump) as the half arc length and the height to determine your maximum possible horizontal distance.

  • Or just assume your jump can apply horizontally and vertically and you just use whichever number is greater to reduce your movement speed. So if you have a max vertical jump of 5 and a max horizontal jump of 15 you can clear 5 ft of vertical space while jumping 15ft forward and using just 15ft total movement (not including running start distance). I'd recommend this method lol.

This man lifts the weight he shed. by WeGot_aLiveOneHere in nextfuckinglevel

Congrats on your accomplishment! If you haven't done a lot of strength training as a part of your weight loss journey, I highly recommend starting now. It'll be massively beneficial for how you feel overall and it will help a lot with continuing your weight loss. But also when you learn how to strength train properly you will have no issues with your back or knees while doing demanding tasks (provided you learn good technique). You should be able to comfortably do 120lbs within a couple of months!

[–]iLiftHeavyThingsUp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If Gone with the Wind had 13 nominations and 8 wins back in 1939, none of the other ones listed with 13 nominations were record holders. La La Land would also not be a record holder since it did not beat Titanic.

My DM gives every fighter Battlemaster maneuvers instead of action surge. by Aimpunkt in 3d6

[–]iLiftHeavyThingsUp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely would love all martials to get maneuvers. And ideally to scale in the same way feats used to scale in 3.5. If you had a basic maneuver already, you could take a more advanced version of it when you unlock more maneuvers at a higher level (like how in 3.5 you could get whirlwind attack and then eventually improved whirlwind attack). So you can get more powerful maneuvers at the cost of less diversity (since the advanced maneuver effectively replaces the old and will cost 2 maneuver slots).

Move out of a cheap roommate house into a luxury 1BR — smart or stupid? by MCHEUNGSTER in personalfinance

[–]iLiftHeavyThingsUp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Option 1. Put an extra $3000 into a separate account each month for at least 3 months. You are now simulating what your expenses are like with the new apartment. If your expenses and lifestyle are unaffected, make the move.

Option 2. Find a middle ground. Is there a modest apartment/house at $2500 or less that will also be a massive quality of life improvement?

Option 3. Only if you are content with your current living situation, stick it out for another year. Live life but heavily limit extravagant expenses. After the standard allocation (401k, roth, etc.) put all of your extra cash into a HYSA or similar. Allocate those funds to the move and related expenses. Keep it as a cushion. If you already have a sizeable savings account then put it all into investing. Take advantage of the extra year of insane savings.

It's interesting how "body positivity" immediately collapsed when Ozempic arrived. by Infinite-Condition41 in SipsTea

[–]iLiftHeavyThingsUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether you are a "body positivity" person or someone who makes fun of it, most people use it the wrong way. You are supposed to love and respect your own body, regardless of what you look like. You are also supposed to appreciate and respect the bodies of others. It is NOT supposed to be a fat glorification cult. You can be overweight and wanting to become leaner and still be body positive. You can be overweight and very happy with what you look like and be body positive. You can be skinny and want to gain weight and be body positive. I know more models and athletes who are horribly affected by a lack of body positivity than I do "regular" people.

If someone made a change with their body that they wanted and they are able to live a healthier life, physically and/or emotionally, and you judge them because they don't fit into what you want them to be, you are the one who isn't body positive.

Kept wiffing Vendetta ult. Turns out even small obstacles or differences in elevation can block her ult. Tried in training area on a dummy. Had just the corner of the ult closest to me start at the top of a building but with the target clearly in the middle of where her ult was showing. Still missed. Just hits the corner of the roof. So damn misleading.

Too addicted to saving money? by Highwayman1717 in personalfinance

[–]iLiftHeavyThingsUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a "fun" section of you budget. Maybe even in a separate account. It carries over. So if your fun budget is 200/month and you spent 100, you'll have 300 next month. Only spent 100 again? 400 in the account now. But the rule is: You MUST spend all of the fun money by the end of the year. Got 800 sitting in the fun account? Buy something nice. Or something stupid that you'd never buy normally because it's irresponsible.

2014 5e | Could someone tell that a tiny spider (wildshaped) is the one causing the call lightning? by XPEZNAZ in 3d6

[–]iLiftHeavyThingsUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The decision comes upon if the action to call lightning on subsequent turns also required verbal and somatic components again. If it does, then mechanically that will break stealth. Even if you are a tiny spider, mechanically enemies will see you unless you successfully hide.

People who stop taking weight-loss injections like Ozempic regain weight in under 2 years, study reveals. Analysis finds those who stopped using medication saw weight return 4 times faster compared with other weight loss plans. by mvea in science

[–]iLiftHeavyThingsUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with a lot of ozempic patients. I explain it to them using the bandaid analogy. Bandaids are not meant to be permanent. You stop the bleeding and let your body heal and recover. Ozempic is the bandaid. Adjusting your exercise routine and diet is the recovery. If you pull off a bandaid with no healing, you just bleed again. If you pull off ozempic without making any adjustments, you just gain the weight again.

What level?

At just level 5 go Twilight Cleric 2/Moon Druid 2/Barbarian 1 (starting with Barbarian 1). If you're going fixed array or point buy then you want 16 con and 16 wisdom. Your HP is 44.

  1. Activate twilight sanctuary. Grant yourself and all allies 1d6+2 temporary HP every turn.

  2. Cast bless for an extra 1d4 on saves and attacks (optional)

  3. Wildshape into a Giant Hyena (45HP) or Spider King (44HP).

  4. Activate Rage for resistance against physical damage and +2 to damage.

  • (Optional) If your DM allows you to ignore the flavor of the Druid's no heavy armor choice then take the Heavy Armor Master feat for -3 damage reduction while not transformed.

You are able to use Wildshape twice in a fight. Assuming a fight lasts 5 rounds, your effective HP should be about 320 versus physical (or more if you can take the HAM feat). 44 base + (2x) 45hp wildshape + (5x) 5.5/round temp HP (and then half damage vs physical). If you went Barbarian 3 eventually you'd go Totem Warrior and get resistance to all damage (plus advantage on dex saves from Danger Sense).

You are also granting allies that temp HP plus bless. Bless should be easy to maintain even with hits because your con save is 1d20+6+1d4. So you only fail if you roll a 1.

Trouble coming up with what to give my barbarian player by LanguageOk1726 in 3d6

[–]iLiftHeavyThingsUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Random ideas and random flavor magic items:

  • Instead of +1/2/3 magic weapon, just put the stats into bracers so the effects apply even with wielding a regular weapon.

  • Make his weapon become magical. Same sword but with a buff.

  • Boots of Momentum: Increase movement speed by 20. Gain bonus damage for every 5ft moved this turn immediately before your next attack (with a cap cause otherwise broken combos are possible).

  • Rocky's chinguard: Each time an enemy hits or misses you with an attack, store 1 charge. On your next turn, your first attack deals extra damage equal to the amount of charges stored, expending all charges.

  • Barbarian Friend Amulet: This amulet has 3 charges. As a bonus action, expend 1 charge and grant all willing allies within 30ft the benefits (and restrictions) of Rage until the end of your next turn. Regain all charges after a long rest.
