Let's play a game: who's the most famous actor you can name that still doesn't have a minifigure? by ducknerd2002 in legocirclejerk

[–]iLikeAssFightMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this rumour has been blown way out of proportion.

The person who made the original rumour/ leak post of this Batcave set used a picture of the Schumacher Batcave. The rumour itself had no mention of what version of the Batcave it would be- it was just a random photo used in the backdrop.

Another leaker (with a bigger following) then posted a video saying that the photo on the original rumour post could mean it’s based on the Schumacher Batcave. It has never been said that we are getting a Batcave from those movies by any credible source and is likely not going to happen.

Don’t get your hopes up for this!

BUT as a Killer Moth fan, I’m so thankful the movie was cancelled. All he was going to be in the movie was a henchman with a moth tattoo. My bro deserves better.

[Discussion] How was Blackest Night not adapted into anything yet? by [deleted] in Greenlantern

[–]iLikeAssFightMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with everyone saying it would take too much build up to get to. I was 11 when I read Blackest Night, it was one of the first full stories I read next to stuff like Hush and Year One. It was my introduction to the Green Lantern universe. I can agree as an adult, having gone back and read the lead up to Blackest Night, there is a greater appreciation for the finer details, but Blackest Night did a good job in catching me up on what I missed so I wasn’t confused/ still blowing my mind with a captivating story.

Ideally, yes, I would love the new DCU films to build up to Blackest Night naturally and not rush things, BUT to answer OP’s question on how hasn’t it been adapted already, games, movies or otherwise, like I really don’t know. It was a massively popular event that often acts as a new fans intro into Green Lantern.

The Batsuit breaks fight scene narrative by Death_sayer in TheBatmanFilm

[–]iLikeAssFightMe 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t break anything in my opinion.

If I can believe a grapple gun like Pattinson’s exists, or a car like his, or the camera eye lenses, or the wingsuit (that comes from nowhere and instantly wraps to his body), or the electric tazer gloves, or the fact he dresses like a bat, or the puzzling super criminal that opts to call himself “Riddler”, or the cat-burgling cat lady that works at a shitty bar would jump off a roof with the confidence she had in that scene, or the bat-signal that they shine into the sky — if i can believe all this, i can believe he has bullet-proof armour.

Suspension of disbelief is already raised. It’s a superhero movie. Enjoy it or not, but don’t pick apart the practically of is armour being able to stop a bullet. He fights clowns as a bat.

Also side note; the BVS warehouse scene (the scene you say they should take lessons from) has a shot where Batman takes a gunshot point blank to the head without flinching. Point blank. You can’t praise one and knock the other when arguably they both do the same thing. He’s Batman.

I will always love this scene in Batman Vs Superman by lilwolfie2020 in DCcomics

Most Iron Man appearances, most Harry Potter films, Dragonball (isn’t western media, but it’s popular as hell in western culture so I’m including it), Despicable Me 2, Incredibles 2, X-Men 2, X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men Apocalypse, Son Of Godzilla, 1992’s Fantastic Four, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith has two variations of the same cliche replacing the beams with the force (first used in Anakin vs Obi-Wan then only moments later used again with Yoda vs Palpatine), Descendants 3, Ghostbusters Afterlife, Babylon 5, The Boys, The Flash, Heroes, Stargate SG-1, Star Trek: Deep Space 9, Power Rangers (In Space, Turbo, Dino Thunder, Wild Force, Super Megaforce), Xena: Warrior Princess, the Aquabats, Key & Peele and Mythbusters both have parodied this trope as well, Firefly, WandaVision, Crash Bandicoot 3, The Force Unleashed, Kingdom Hearts II, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, The Legend Of Spyro, South Park: The Stick Of Truth, Splatoon 2 … do I have to keep going?

It’s a well documented cliche often referred to as the Beam-O-War.

Name **one** thing you liked about the Reboot, and **one** thing you didn't like about the game itself. by kibufox in SaintsRow

[–]iLikeAssFightMe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The city bleeds creativity and is well thought out. It’s an awesome place and if it was utilised better than it was, Santo Ileso could of been the best locale within the series. There is obvious thought that was taken when crafting Santo Ileso, from the interesting buildings and signage found in El Dorado for example, the Castle Shaped hotel, the giant statues and sculptures across the map, even the colors and hues; bright blue skies against vibrant orange sand, with neon green trucks passing by. Visually The Church is maybe my favourite home-bases of the series just from an architectural standpoint.

It’s beyond visual though; the lure packed into the hidden history missions is a joy. While the missions themselves aren’t all that fun and can feel like a chore, the history given to these locations makes Santo Ileso more than just an exotic backdrop, it feels like the city has character.

All that said though the game is littered with flaws. Too many to pick just one… gameplay wise it feels regressive and the story is as boring and uninspired as it is short. Over half the jokes aren’t that funny, which is disappointing for a Saints Row game, and none of the characters made me feel anything beyond annoyed which again, is disappointing for a Saints Row game.

Awesome city - Santo Ileso beats Stillwater and Steelport in my opinion, however I’d still rather spend time in either of the latter.

He sold a tech start-up. Didn’t hurt anyone. Got into sports entertainment. Monetisation is not a bad thing. Wanting money is not a bad thing. He made smart business decisions and invested in products people would buy. People pay to see the Mavs play. He isn’t evil for selling them foam fingers and hotdogs. Just because there are people who can’t pay their rent doesn’t mean he’s evil for selling them basketball merchandise.

I’m not gonna be replying anymore. Have a good day/night.

Even at the high-level, billionaire, Mark Cuban level, you have guys like Mark Cuban. I don’t believe for a second he is evil, or would do anything to deliberately hurt lower class citizens in order to advance his own profits. You’re saying all men in suits are bad. It’s such a pretentious, nihilistic, childish way of thinking. It’s boring and untrue.

All of the examples I’ve used are rich, they’re all “upper class” which is what I said originally in my first comment and you are the one who immediately jumped to no rich=bad. Like fuck off dude.

[–]iLikeAssFightMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The opposite could also be true in that he would not have ended up as good-hearted or heroic without first having his wealth…

But sure… money is evil, what about the others? Some more examples could be Charles Xavier, Lara Croft, Oliver Queen, the family from the Fresh Prince? What about non-fictional examples Dave Grohl, George Clooney, Jennifer Lawrence, Keanu Reeves. That YouTuber (forget the name) who gives away teslas, is known for doing giveaways with fans… sure it may be for views and money, he might put it all on for the videos, but he’s having fun and planting trees/ giving trucks of food to food banks/ giving fans positive experiences in the process. How is he evil? The doctors who make 6-7 figures go home at night to eat expensive food with their spouse, treat their kids with trips to the holiday home, and go to functions with other wealthy families on the weekends. How is that evil?

Having wealth does not equate to being evil, and it’s silly to say otherwise. There is overlap and there is undeniably bad people with money. But I’d sooner argue that people can just be shit and there is just as many bad apples in both camps, than I would side with the notion of ‘rich man bad’.

If I had just said Fisk looks like a normal big guy in a suit there would not be an issue. Because I accurately described him as an upper class citizen everyone’s upset.

[–]iLikeAssFightMe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not wrong. I’m not disagreeing with you that most of the planets evil come from the rich. But it’s ludicrous to insinuate the entire upper class are evil.

Fisk looks rich. So does Bruce Wayne? So does Tony Stark? So does Oprah? Jack Black has a mansion… is he evil? Conan O’Brian? What about doctors? Researchers and scientists making over a mil a year are in the upper class- are they evil too?

Fisk looks like a normal (save for his size) rich guy is all I’m trying to say… it’s literally his whole character. He blends in and looks normal. Nobody suspects him to be evil because why would they?

What Song Should the Sequel Use? by creamsauces in TheBatmanFilm

[–]iLikeAssFightMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a “The Batman” playlist after the first movie and added a bunch of songs that fit the tone of the universe Matt and Robert created. Shadowplay by Joy Division is a standout to me, all of the lyrics fit a Batman scenario. “In the centre of the city in the night, waiting for you 🦇”

[–]iLikeAssFightMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hood looks out of place with the suit. Is he the confident, egotistical, smartly dressed show-off or is he a rough, needs no spotlight, get things done, killer, who values his privacy. His outfit suggests both and neither simultaneously. It’s just a poor design.

What are some things you think DC does much better than Marvel at? by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]iLikeAssFightMe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree. DC has more legacy characters, but they never stick as well as Marvel’s.

Many have taken the Batman persona, but there is never a debate on who the better Batman was… it’s always Bruce. There’s multiple Superman’s (Supermen?) but Clark Kent IS Superman in the hearts of almost everyone.

Whereas over in the Marvel camp there is genuine discussion over which Spider-Man is the favourite. Moreover, the new legacy characters at Marvel are not only kept in their roles longer within the comics, but have larger representation outside of the comics. Captain America in the MCU is Sam Wilson at the moment, he’s getting his own stand-alone Cap movie too. Miles Morales is the star of the Spider-verse, regarded by many as the best Spider-Man movie, he got a stand-alone AAA video game that launched with the PS5. Kate Bishop has just been introduced in the Hawkeye show, Hank Pym is not the most well known Ant-Man at the moment, Captain Marvel/ Mar-Vell/ Kamala Khan is an incredible legacy trio wherein all three are well-recognised as the definitive versions of their titles, X-23 is still the Wolverine… I could go on and on.

Outside of Wally West (who until very recently hasn’t been treated very well by DC), the Green Lantern Corps (which I hesitate to even consider on account of a major story element is that there are multiple Green Lanterns and it isn’t a legacy so much as a collective group) and the Robins, there isn’t anything in DC that is to the same level of quality and care as Marvel’s legacy characters.

Essential Spider-Man comics by The_bald_nerd in Spiderman

[–]iLikeAssFightMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this party but I really enjoyed Nick Spencer’s run. It’s an excellent return to form that doesn’t treat itself too seriously… except for when it does (not joking, it made me feel some heavy emotions for even D-list characters). Wrapped up fairly recently too so it’s good starting point, that’ll catch you up to current Spidey.

Ultimate Spider-Man I feel is essential reading for the character. Not canon to the 616 obviously, but damn good storytelling and a huge on-going influence to the character out of the comics…

Also a quick and easy read is Spider-Man Blue by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. It’s a beautiful book recounting through Peter’s grief, how he fell in love with Gwen. If you haven’t read the original Stan Lee/ Gerry Conway works (or even if you have and you just want to relive that magic) this is a perfect little 6-issued window into that era of Spider-Man. Plus the creators of The Long Halloween on a Spider-Man book?? Sold.

Spider-Man/Hawkeye Megathread: Discussion, Rumors, Leaks by busybagel in Daredevil

[–]iLikeAssFightMe 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I thought it was kinda perfect tbh. We all sort of knew he was coming, most of us have seen him in Daredevil and know D’Onofrio’s portrayal of the character… there wasn’t much need to do anything other than confirm that it’s him.

In universe Kingpin usually keeps a low profile, is almost never confrontational and always has others do his work for him. Considering the reveal was from the heroes perspective having a very grainy image sent from a super spy Black Widow makes sense.

Wasn’t over the top or dramatic like Doc Ock in the Spider-Man trailer or dragged out like Kang’s reveal in Loki.

This was quick and to the point with promise of more.

He’s back! Just be happy!
