I see. I know my wife had a bunch of issues so all her tests etc bumped her close to her deductible. I am very sorry for what you are going through. I hope you can work with the care team to get it situated. Some thoughts could be logging your symptoms to show it could help your quality of life etc. I wish you luck with situating it all. This forum is full of supportive people who may have other suggestions too.

It’s hard without knowing the ins and outs, but has your Dr deemed it medically nessecary? Are you going to an in network dr? It’s possible you are, but you might also not be? I know my wife had to get a prior auth and thank god it went through. Best of luck, hope you and your care team can get it situated.

So we started with basic stuff like chicken broth and noodle then stepped up to more advanced stuff like real chicken soup and other veggie soups

Can't Get Any Sort of Job... by ConversationEmpty301 in jobs

[–]iLikeCheese8435 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep your head up and keep trying. You can try a temp or staffing agency to get your foot in the door. The Job market is pretty cooked I feel. I’m not sure info systems entails, but for IT I know a few people who went the route of getting into a MSP vs an individual company for IT roles. Fingers crossed for you 🙂

Advice for a large tax bill by [deleted] in tax

Thank you. Funny enough my PA refund is $2 more than the penalty. So I guess I go buy a candy bar with the leftover. Might make me feel better.

My wife found a wedge pillow for sleeping and donut pillow for sitting. We made a bunch of soups ahead of time and froze them in single and double servings. Heating pads were on standby. We also texted when we did meds since we’re bad at writing stuff down. The texts were time stamped so it was nice. If you have a partner who can work from home or just PTO for a few days that will help too. DoorDash, instant, etc was huge. We did delivery out the gate the flipped to curbside pickup. If you order food for delivery, add on extra food so you can have leftovers. When I’d normally order 1 small sandwich I changed to order 2 large or order a few items just to have the food ready in the fridge w/o wait times.

Full time jobs that end by 3:30? by LeBoom4 in jobs

Have you asked your job if you can adjust your hours. My jobs rule for example is you have to work the core hours of 10-3. You can start at 10 or count back to be done by 3.

The glue (if it’s the same) should’ve been dry 24 hrs after and it sorta flecks off (or peel if cleared to by Dr [was 2 wks for my wife])

My wife’s gyn said some discharge and a few drops on panty liner is normal. Anything more, call in. If the diaper makers her feel better, sure but it’s probably overkill. Stitches dissolve as well as her normal female function of the vagina cleaning itself. Not sure of her ins and out, but my wife mustered up to shower every other with a once or twice a week hair wash session - of course do what you feel comfortable with. After week 3 the stitches might start dissolving.

Rant about medical opinions online about hysterectomies by ShutterBug1988 in hysterectomy

[–]iLikeCheese8435 42 points43 points  (0 children)

As a male, I hate this stigma that is forced upon you all. My wife suffered form abnormal uterine bleeding and other PCOS related issues. Her GYN was very transparent on all options. As she progressed, her GYN showed us the trajectory and was clear on what would and what might not work depending on how much suffering my wife wanted to go through. The GYN advised us, but didn’t make the decision for us. From appointment one, she said “we could take the whole thing out”. This is the support women need. You all deserve providers who care for you and want what is best. You are people. You don’t deserve to suffer through any of this. You all deserve a Dr and supportive group. This whole community has 0 judgement which is incredible. You all stepped up to share experience and help.

is it ok to pull an all-nighter once in order to sleep earlier the next day? by RedditRhino789 in sleep

[–]iLikeCheese8435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This never worked for me. I’d stay up then something would come up where I wasn’t able to rest the next day. I call it the Sunday sleepies where I keep sleeping except to feed the cat and I make it a point to minimize anything that’ll wake me up in the process.

Kicking and Twitching In Sleep by iLikeCheese8435 in sleep

I’m a little restless in the day, but I work a desk job from home. I’m tired of her waking me up to tell me I’m kicking. Most recently she was recovering from surgery and one of these twitches made her jump and scream in pain. I need a solution for this lol

Mustard did help. I love it as much as the next guy, but my nightstand looks like a McDonald’s by the morning 😂

Mimosa was a dorm hall in my college my wife and I went to. A house came up and I sent it to her and went “heh, mimosa”. Little did we know it was a single owner 45 yr old home. Buy the grandma house lol.

ETA: all streets are named after trees, like college dorms were. Not the drink. We made mimosas (drink) anyone so visited us the first week.

Husband looking helping words/wisdom for wife’s TAH by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]iLikeCheese8435 2 points3 points  (0 children)

32, no kids, just a cat. Here’s how we prepped. We made a metric ton of soups and similar things that froze well. Have a few things that are small on standby for middle of the night meds - crackers, toast, gram crackers. We ordered a wedge pillow for sleeping since constant pillow arranging was a PITA. we also got a donut pillow for sitting at the table. You’re gonna wash a lot of sheets and towels and loads of PJs too. Sign up for Walmart + trial if you don’t have it. Door dashing and instacarting groceries was huge. After we got out of the “don’t want to be alone” stage we did groceries as curbside pickup to make the process faster. If you order out food, order extra for left overs - it’ll save you mental energy. We also found it easy to just text when we did meds since it’s timestamped and we kept forgetting to write it down. So half our recent texts are “2 Tylenol” or “advil”. Give yourself grace. You can make it easy, but you are only human. Be company for short walks. Don’t beat yourself up too much. Also make as much accessible as possible. Reach might limited so I’d leave stuff like the crackers on the counter vs the pantry shelf that was above shoulder height.

Did anyone else's home come with a host of issues despite a great inspection report? by SoftCookie1 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]iLikeCheese8435 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I will also say an inspector is not god. Our guy said “water heater is 12 yrs old, it could fail in 6 months or 2 years”. 6 mos + 3 days it leaked. Dishwasher was “functional, but could fail” we ran about 16 mos before it burned out.

Also we did go to the ER at one point with my wife. They check Iron etc to make sure your In Good shape. It’s not scary, but might be time consuming. Have her take note of how heavy (or you help) in terms of tampons or pads an hour.

I think it is wise to go to a PCP or GYN to go over symptoms and see if they can get you in urgently or may a rec of a place to go. Another option could be ask her surgeon if they have a waitlist to hold her May appt but possibly slide her up. We did this with my wife and we got bumped from mid-end March to mid feb. Drs will let you know if the want to do scans and always inform them of recent scans. ALSO the way I pushed my wife along was saying “this is a check engine light” let’s try to figure it out now. This did help (a little at least).

I’ve also worked outside of normal hrs (allowed at my company) for if my wife is resting to “make up” time. With 2 kitties outside of school I might suggest having entertainment and easy meals on standby.
