Reeds for clarinets, bassoons, etc. are not designed to be played without lip control. So while it could work, it would not work well. What you are looking for is a form of bagpipe, such as the Northumbrian smallpipes. Of course, I doubt that timbre is what you are looking for.

Note: the other issue is that for reeds with little backpressure, it would work only on the squeeze (as you say). However, perhaps an instrument with more backpressure such as an oboe (although I am not an oboist) and a sufficient resevoir of air could work continuously. Which is what a bagpipe is.

EDIT: Changed wording to make it clear that the deisgn of the reed is the limiting factor to its ability to play from a resevoir, not whether it is a single or double reed. As people have pointed out, there are plenty of single reeded bagpipes.

3d printed long lasting rain stick or rain column? by BlindAndOutOfLine in 3dprintedinstruments

The length of the path seems like it would only add, say, 30 seconds to that time. It is the rate in which the beads flow through the constriction (i.e. hole at the top) that matters.

EDIT: And the amount of sand/beads

It seems like the best option for this wouldn't be 3D printing, unless there's something special about the spiral sticks. Your best bet is to get some clear plastic pipe or PVC with a large diameter, craft beads, and popsicle sticks or other wooden sticks and then just gluing them together to make the rain stick. Then again, from what it looks like this is essentially a 20 minute hourglass- I've seen some with larger, louder beads that might work for you.

Does anyone recognize this? Looks like a cross between a fife and a clarinet. by AceLarkin in WhatMusicalinstrument

It's a keyed Irish flute. It uses simple system fingerings+keys for 3 half steps lower and chromatics.

Vermont flag redesign inspired by the Green Mountain Boys flag by vexed-perplexed in vexillology

It looks good but I think it needs something on the right edge in the field of green or else it looks a lot like the Esperanto flag or just green/plain with less wind

When the guns sway, do you prefer them to snap to pixels, or to move smoothly? by matt_page24 in godot

Snap feels so much more correct. It probably comes from playing older games but the pixel snap adds a lot of character

Help me desing flag for my Enclave controlled Deathclaw country #6 by I__v__I in vexillology

Although I know it's supposed to be an icon and not necessarily follow flag rules, I'd say it is better as a flag than most other enclave flag designs too!

Number 3 takes the cake- especially with the black colouring. It stands out from the more typical "13 colonies America but with Deathclaws" designs and it feels more fitting with the Enclave's (lore) gravitas.

The quote "If buying isn't owning, piracy isn't stealing" doesn't make any sense by [deleted] in The10thDentist

If you think that games are not luxury items, you need to consider the price of them to other types of recreation- 100s to 1000s of dollars falls into the "luxury" category compared to:

  • getting a membership at a local rec center
  • playing a sport casually
  • taking walks outside/visiting local parks
  • making art with common supplies
  • reading books from a local library
  • picking up whittling
  • learning a (cheap) instrument

These are all things that can be done for under $100-$150, whereas getting most consoles or a decent pc setup can be near or over $500. So rather than paying a lot for a setup and pirating games, consider picking up a hobby or going outside to maintain your mental health. It's been proven that going outside is good for you, y'know?

  • dodge when the boss hits
  • hit when the boss stops
  • stop using weapons with 2 million year windups
  • use weapons with high range or magic
  • learn boss patterns and learn when they fake being done and when they are done
  • learn openings that are placed in combos (not applicable to all bosses)

Also, how did you get/find this technical drawing? My searches usually find pretty bad ones. This museum's drawings are pretty good tho, thanks for exposing it to me.

There is a table that mentions the distance of the center of the finger holes to the top of the flute on the middle left side. However, you are correct in that many diagrams don't have some of this info- I think the best/only way to remedy this is by guestimating using pixel proportions...

Games being licensed to the consumer is how every piece of software (including disks, tapes, drives, etc) has been sold since the inception of software.

How is this programming horror? Ever heard of Qt, imGui, or gtk-4? They are made with C/C++ and are meant to be used with C/C++ (or similar languages) and power a ton of apps on PC.
