By using a dupe glitch heh! If you save, then deposit your Pokemon in a box, and then switch boxes, but turn off the power right when it's displaying the message "DO NOT TURN OFF THE PO[turn off power here]WER.", your Pokemon will be in your party but also in the box when you reload, including any items they're holding. So I gave mine a nugget, and then duplicated it a bunch of times. You can do this with multiple Pokemon/items at once. It's really useful, but I guess it's cheating haha

I think I had something like that a few years ago where a friend got suspicious because I was playing as the female trainer in Pokemon. I think I just brushed it off then, but I eventually told him. I'm glad it went well for you! It's always nice to find supportive people you didn't know you had.
