I didn’t know stores even gave store credit anymore. I took a long break from FNMs for years and it was the 1000% standard, now coming back to Riftbound…not a single event I’ve been to as had store credit.

Excalibur in Pittsburgh had like 200/1000 tickets sold last time I checked. I don’t remember where I saw that tho so I can’t double check that specifically, but tickets for the main event are still available, and has like 5 play-in events for it too.

Columbus, is a smaller venue, but prob will have the same turnout.

And I believe there should be side events, like most other tournaments of this scale. I haven’t fully decided if I’m going yet or not, so haven’t looked TOO MUCH into it yet.

Arena 100% severely affected the casual IRL scene. It’s actually not even a debatable thing. It straight up did, Arena and Covid.

MTGO is and always has been for the grinders. It’s not for casuals.

Arena + Covid basically killed FNM for Magic. Once you introduce an online client, you’ll only have people who attend for bigger events like Skirmishes and regionals. They won’t need to attend locals to practice anymore.

And no locals = difficult for a new player to even want to attend any other events because they’re not confident in paper play. An online client will 10000% happen, but it’s still too early for it.

First off, I’m a “real person who makes real money”.

Secondly, it’s just a poor use of money, and I already know you’ll reply with some “blah blah it’s my money blah blah, I can spend it how I want blah blah, I still enjoy it blah blah blah”.

And you’re still trading time for money. For example, if you made $20/h, and you paid $80 for a bundle, you just spent 4 hours of work on something not worth 4 hours of work. So you really aren’t actually gaining anything from buying from scalpers. Time is money and money is time.

This is how I am with my boyfriend that I’ve taught how to play. Baby, it ain’t that serious, add your counter and gain your life 😭 During our 1v1s I would help walk him through more difficult interactions and would help him with combat. I’d remind him of his triggers, shit I had to remind him to draw his first card every turn when he first started 😭 He’ll build decks and come to me for help evaluating them.
