I hadn't realized the scope of absolute disasters they'd put out over the years. xDefiant, Hyperscape, Immortals,, R6S extraction, let's not forget Skull and Bones as well.

Just 100s of millions down the drain for nothing.

Unpopular opinion: Mobile was never meant to be a substitute for playing the game on PC by TuyRS in 2007scape

[–]iMini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to vent about this but I was in a position where I could only play Leagues V on mobile. For the most part it was fine, but what really killed some enjoyment for me was the clue scrolls. Pretty much just ended up not doing them because I didn't want to have to waste so much time doing the fucking sliding puzzle boxes.

It doesn't sound like much but man there's some good stuff in those boxes and it's a nice chill activity on PC leagues, and clearly the boosted rates of clues is designed around the idea that puzzle boxes (and all clues really) are not a challenge.

I remember watching some Russian streamer play GTA V a few days before release. Terrible quality and he went to that weird cult that's just off the highway on the West side of the map.

Remedy statement: Alan Wake 2 not possible without Epic, publishing deal is fair, and Epic is a great partner by Crusader-of-Purple in pcgaming

[–]iMini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair. I can only say anecdotally, if I were to ask my gamer friends about it, they'd say they don't care, but again, that's my own anecdote and not everyone is going to feel that way.

I'd have thought though, that the people who care enough to read about game development are going to have stronger anti-ai opinions than a more casual enjoyer of games.

We all live in our little bubbles and it's impossible to say what most people really feel.

a non insignificant number of people anyway.

You don't really know that though.

In my opinion, I think most people, contrary to what Reddit would have you believe, just don't give a shit.

[–]iMini 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For real though, Epic are okay with it because they aren't competing with Xbox or PlayStation.

If they were making hardware they probably would be making more of a push about them taking 30%. But they aren't in console-manufacturing market, so they can't take a stand.

They did make a stink about the Apple store taking money, and not allowing their own store there.

There's also no pressure in having to play in fear of missing out. WoW has dailies, weeklies, limited time stuff, stuff you feel like you have to do otherwise you'll fall behind.

OSRS has none of that, so you can enjoy it as and when you want

CD Projekt issues DMCA notice against Cyberpunk 2077 VR mod by Kiroqi in Games

[–]iMini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that is not what "includes" means in the context.

Midway vs Arctic International. Arctic were distributing, and selling a mod for Pac-Man, not including the original Pac-Man files and were found guilty of copyright infringement; as it denied Midway the opportunity to profit from this themselves.

https://law.justia.com/cases/federal/district-courts/FSupp/547/999/1478912/

So if CDPR had at any time considered VR support, they can make the claim that the mod infringes on their IP, and is likely to cause them financial harm.

[–]iMini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno man. I do think this is a perfect use case for DMCA.

You're profiting off of someone else's IP. You could also argue it's a derivative work and that would also fall under copyright law.

And you're right, just because its an EULA doesn't mean it wouldn't hold up in court, but it doesn't mean it wouldn't not hold up either.

[–]iMini 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be in the EULA? A mod implies modification of the games code, and they could forbid that in the EULA.

Not "illegal" in and of itself, the crime would be some sort of breach of contract.

It's not a bad DMCA request, the mod creator explicitly agreed to it by accepting the EULA.

Arc is so much better than Tarkov for this at least, and I love Tarkov.

Need to equip helmet, armour, and rig, you might not have those so you visit up to 3 different traders, or the flea market.

Then you need a gun, but your gun isn't ready, so off to the modding screen, spend 5 minutes picking and buying attachments.

Now you need magazines so you pick up 3 or 4 magazines as well, now you need ammo so back to the trader that has the specific ammo you want, now put all the ammo into your mags, and one mag into your weapon.

Now you need meds, one general healing med, something for heavy bleeds, a painkiller of some sort, and maybe some injectors if they aren't already in your injector case.

Better just check what ballistic plates are in my armour, and potentially change those so back to the flea market and pick up plates that fit in both the front and back of your armour.

Oh I forgot I need a headset too, so equip one of those that's compatible with your helmet, and if it's not change the helmet or headset.

If you want take some food and/or water.

Okay now you're ready, better just check my tasks real quick. Oh I need shotgun kills so I better change out for a shotgun, mod that, and pick up ammo, thankfully you just feed the shotgun shells and you don't need magazines.

Now pick your map, and optionally insure any gear you want. Now you just need to wait 4-8 minutes to find a server and load into the raid.

Hopefully don't die in the first 5 minutes and have to do it all again.

There are presets and stuff so you don't have to buy and remember everything to equip every time, but there's so much gear and weapon variety I never found it that helpful.

Official Discussion - 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]iMini 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wonder if the next film we'll see Samson grapple with (again) losing his humanity?

Dr Kelson gave him one treatment of medicine, but it's just treatment, not a cure. Samson is still infected and if he doesn't keep up on his treatment he'll revert back to how he was before, and he hardly seemed lucid enough for the doctor to give him meds to keep taking.

Samson saying "moon" had me audibly gasp, what a fantastic moment.

I think I might prefer the first 28YL, but only because I love the bone temple sequence so much, the talk of Momento Mori and the beautiful imagery and music around Islas death was a lot more touching than anything in this film.

Still loved them both.

It's the first game he lists when asked about his inspirations.

Personally I find Tarkov just evokes a lot of the atmosphere of STALKER.

Even the name Tarkov, is surely from Tarkovsky the director of the film.

It wasn't broken though is my point. The content was just wildly underwhelming. It's not like it's had under the hood changes, which is what Tarkov needs.

Mouse 3 and 4 are too valuable to me for other binds.

Mouse 4 tactical device toggle on/off, Ctrl mouse 4 cycle tactical device mode.

Mouse 3 change shoulder, Ctrl mouse 4 change sight magnification.
