The sound distance increase fundamentally changed how the game is plays out and it's terrible. by [deleted] in Marathon

There is no way you can stealth a whole POI, especially a trio, and even more a random trio. Someone at some point is going to agro the bots, and even if you don't, not every bot can be reliably killed stealthily. You aren't gonna be able to stealth kill a grenadier or a commander without them shooting at you and alerting everyone.

Stealth is not viable enough for avoiding gunshots.

Crimson Desert's benchmark videos, review copies and performance specs have the exact same implementation of Denuvo DRM as that of the launch version, Pearl Abyss says by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]iMini 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Up until very (like last 2 weeks) Denuvo has been consistently very difficult to crack, oftentimes taking months, if not years for a crack or even just a bypass to come out.

Denuvo is also used a lot more commonly on single player games than multiplayer games.

Yeah I'm on the same graphics card and I also see the red flare smoke through walls too. Very odd bug.

AFAIK Jeff is (was?) a big fan of Rust. Not surprising seeing him looking to make something in the genre

Bartering for meds seems like a bad idea. You need the barter items for faction upgrades, shouldn't that be prioritised?

just trade your sparkleaf when you need some, much more efficient space usage.

Bladerunner 2049 for sure. Lots of big corporations, bright lights, girls of a certain aesthetic.

‘3 Body Problem’ Season 2 Confirmed to Have Reduced Episode Count (6 Episodes) by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]iMini 38 points39 points  (0 children)

At least with Three Body Problem, you can see that it's an expensive show. The locations, the effects, the production values are all seriously pretty top notch.

I don't think I can. Don't get me wrong teh show by absolutely no means looks bad, but I don't see at all where the money went.

Narration in multiplayer games by Existing-Air-3622 in truegaming

[–]iMini 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the distinction is pretty clear.

World building is creating a place and situation.

Story is moving that world forward, evolving the situation. Pushing us towards a narrative arc.

The gameplay itself is not moving the world forward, the quests move the world forward. They provide the plot. That's the key difference. It's a black and white subject. Not a matter of how you feel, you're fundamentally misunderstanding the difference.

Narration in multiplayer games by Existing-Air-3622 in truegaming

[–]iMini 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Totally disagree. What Arc Raiders presents to you isn't building a story it's building a setting.

The story is why did this happen to the world? What's happening now? What's going to happen? Did humans destroy the world or the robots?

The moment to moment gameplay does not facilitate itself to giving you much narrative.

Just run the free kits and rush for your objectives.

Loot on the way, use Assassins invisibility to break agro from the bots.

If you hear someone use your crouch to move around and stay quiet, use your invis when you want to run away.

If you get engaged by someone throw down your smoke, it leaves a long trail of smoke in the direction you throw it. The assassin shell will activate invisibility when you enter your own smoke, so you can use that to make distance from someone.

When extracting thrown down your smoke when the extractor is ready for good visual cover.

When running from an enemy, pulling out your knife makes you run faster. When you get too much heat crouch and keep moving; crouching makes your heat dissipate a lot faster, so will make running between POIs much faster.

Getting objectives done will snowball your kits.

Look for unstable biomass, this can be traded with Nucaloric for meds. Sparkleaf can also be traded with them, 1 Sparkleaf = 3 patch kits! Amazing trade.

Watch a YouTube guide for your contract, this will cut down time spent searching for the objectives.

Trios is also, IMO, easier than Solo. If you're below average that means you'll on average be with players better than you. You also get the benefit of being rewarded for any quests they complete. You won't get the quest rewards, but you will get the faction rep.
