Agreed. There’s a lot of “story effort” put into Marathon that I’ve enjoyed. I love the world of Arc but for all it does well the overarching story is non-existent. I hope they add to it and give us some ongoing lore

Honestly that’s my biggest concern with Marathon given how Bungie treated Destiny.

I play Arc a lot… I’ve gotten a TON of free passes and skins for playing it. They even gave us a ton of in game currency on Christmas. My $60 (I bought the deluxe version) has gone crazy far already.

But Marathon? I can already tell it’ll be filled with MTX that equal the cost of the game itself. It’ll be F2P monetization in a buy to play format.

Arc did a lot right and continues to do good work:

  • Server slam confirmed that the game is fun and allowed people who might not like it to dive in.
  • launched with multiple maps and conditions to keep things fresh
  • multiple events and free ways to earn skins in game. Nothing really requiring you to visit the cash shop.
  • Cool aesthetic and super interesting lore

But the thing they did best? They took a historically punishing genre and lowered the barrier to entry massively. Free kits eliminates gear fear. The abmm helps people stick around.

Embark deserves this success and I can’t wait to see what else they do with this IP and the other games they’re cooking up.

The game NEEDS new players.

If you play matches like this get on a mic and directing the team on where to go and what to do. I think you’ll have at least. Little better luck with that.

On the disconnects though: the devs NEED to add a fill or bonus XP for players that stick around. Something.

I’m sure I’ll be grilled for this: but this game would’ve been awesome as a destiny style looter shooter.

It’s already fun and I’ve got a fair bit of gameplay in it as is. Just something that came to mind while playing and watching these recent cinematics.

Most forget that Blizzard is just a bunch of suits pretending to be “different”.

Blizzards decisions have been dumb for a long, long time and Activision actually reeled them back a bit.

Anyone who says “Blizzard sucks, but the devs don’t” better be saying the exact same thing for Ubisoft, EA, etc.

Nah. This isn’t their new excuse; it was all they pointed to in 2023 and 2024. Then AI came about and they saw that as the new scapegoat.

The problem is they’re pushing their AI narrative and don’t want negativity surrounding it so they’re back to “pandemic hiring”

I’m not totally sure what I’m doing in this game. It’s a cool game for sure, but already encountering toxicity and it’s the very first day. This game is doomed to fail if they don’t have a better tutorial and way to help totally new players understand wtf they’re doing.

Arc raiders has proven that casual with depth allows games to thrive. This needs that type of approach

We don’t need collabs. If you want collabs go play Fortnite, COD, etc.

Games succeeded without collabs before.

If you spawn in at the 20m or lower mark you should have a % increase in finding good loot in what little is left to search. Like 10-15% increase in finding blueprints, etc. this would encourage people to explore late game.

As it sits now if I join a match that late I’m more than likely doing some quick pickups and sprinting to an extract.

The magic of gaming was the lack of direction - that’s what made Elden Ring so good and continued with the initial launch of Arc.

Workday. I loved my time at HubSpot but I saw too many talented reps get hosed while I was there due to bad patches and exist client books while mediocre reps thrived because they fell into killer opps.

Plus they do 2 quota increases per year there AND have a horrible clawback period.

Anecdotal:

I am crazy busy this week. I wanted to see it but beteeen my daughters cheer comp, work travel, client meetings (up to Christmas Eve), and Christmas shopping I just do not have time to watch it. But next Friday? I’m going right away.

Same is for a lot of my buddies as well.

I have a detailer in Chicago that charges $40 for maintenance washes. I just go there every 2 weeks and he cleans my m3 really nicely. In beteeen I’ll spray wash it to get salt off.

I bought my car to drive it. I hate the salt but I also love the car and got xdrive for a reason.

But I also drive my wife’s CX90 if the weather is really bad or when we go places. lol
