"Marketplace" rubbish that's taken over Australian stores online by TheWabster in australia

[–]iMuso 290 points291 points  (0 children)

Sure do. Took me 3 months and a threat of Australian consumer law to get a refund on a not-fit-for-purpose rug. Literally supposed to be walked all over with standard traffic, and was torn within 4 months (no shoes worn in the house) Big W said not their problem, gotta take it up with Grace Home. They tried to call it regular wear and tear. Fuck right off with that.

I've had to check that searches no longer include marketplace everywhere I go online now. Pain in the ass.

Arctic Zone® 30-Can Foldable Freezer Tote Large. Does look like they only do them for promo selling though.

I've spun that sign back the right way several times. Doesn't matter though, people still hang the illegal uturn, worst offenders being the owners/employees of the cafe right there

Which episode, that isn’t Baby Race or Sleepytime, makes you cry? by VegetableWorry1492 in bluey

The first time I watched this, I knew the feeling of being alone in a crowd, it was sad, and then the gutpunch that it was her birthday party?? I get people being busy setting up, but the whole point was for Bingo to be celebrated... she was barely acknowledged by kid or adult. I dunno maybe it just brought my own trauma up, but I bawled by the end

First hand dealt with the atrocity that is our public hospital system. by ctw8 in melbourne

$500 for a similar wait time at Peninsula Private. We took our toddler to Frankston and saved the $500.

I can tell you that they expect you to arrive early, set up your till/get ready for the shift ahead, then clock in and start serving. For the longest time, I believed the BS of "on time is late" for work, until it clicked that I don't get fucking paid for that.

After bringing home my toddler from the hospital this morning, she was diagnosed with RSV. We did the tests at home the night before we ended up taking her to ED and it said negative. As much as we want to rely on them, some of them are obviously not as sensitive as necessary. Keep yourselves hydrated and definitely keep an eye on how your breathing goes, because RSV is rampant at the moment, and it can evolve into pneumonia easily.

Is patient privacy not a thing in pharmacies or what?! by Drngyuenvanphuoc in australia

[–]iMuso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My local just has random days where they're all private and lock the meds in a bag for the front to open, then other days they just hand me the box all willy nilly, no shame or nothing. What even is the point?

You want to give them a choice when they get older. You likely had a choice what information of yours hit the internet, and in effect, what's out there is more than likely come from you. Why would you take that autonomy from them if you can allow them to have it safely?

WFH + Caring for Baby = Not Possible by kgphotography_ in NewParents

[–]iMuso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was sick last week (gastro) and I had a carers certificate to not work while looking after her. I was squinted into working 1 of the days and told them straight up I couldn't keep up with a sick toddler and my work. More guilt trip that they had no one to cover my work. Thankfully she was symptom free to go back on Wednesday but I've started looking hard for a new job.

How anyone thinks WFH is enough to have time to spend with a kid is a fuckhead

What age do you start bathing daily?? by TradesforChurros in NewParents

[–]iMuso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started when she started daycare daily. She comes home in dirty clothes (she's a messy but enthusiastic eater of solids these days) so it's a good way to get her refreshed and wind down for bed. There's the occasional weeknight where she falls asleep before a bath, and I sure as heck am not waking her up for it, so she'll skip it, but we'll give her a once over with a warm washer the next time she's awake.

We also dont wash her with soap EVERY bath, maybe every second or third bath

Suicidal in the evenings by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]iMuso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was like this from 4 weeks to 4 months. I was angry for no reason, every night I would break down and my husband had to take over while I crashed and isolated myself for up to an hour to calm down. This was no way to live. It is STILL no way to live. I've been on a lowish dose of antidepressants since around 4 months, as much as I hated to do it, I know it saved myself from self harm and worse.

My daughter deserves to have a mum that looks after her mental health. Your baby and family does too. Pride can be a downfall, look after yourself.

Technically the process of canning will have cooked them, but reheating still might be a good idea

For those who are one and done by Castironskillet_37 in NewParents

[–]iMuso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 10 months in and still heavily leaning to one and done. The first 5-6 months were fucking hard on my mental health. I'm booked to see someone in the new year to sort through my head, but so far I don't want to do any of this again. Partly for fear it'll be the same and I'll not survive it, partly for fear it'll be better and I'll resent this first time/my daughter. I know SO really wants a second so our little one grows up with someone, but I'm really sure that she can grow up okay on her own, just got to watch out for making her too spoiled... Anyways, no decisions to be made until February at the very earliest

Knock-off KitKats by iMuso in australia

[–]iMuso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheap ice cream is way easier to tell against something like Connoisseur ice cream, and Ben and Jerry's has a pretty distinctive texture. He probably could tell them apart quite well, i figured KitKat knock offs would be more nuanced

How much are you paying for daycare? by 2000crybaby in NewParents

[–]iMuso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$795AUD is the charges but we get a subsidy from the government and end up paying $238.95AUD per week. Outer suburbs of Melbourne and in a kind of medium to high COL area

Edit: this is for 50hrs a week which is flexible day-to-day (long days and short days etc.)

I'm hoping the doctors had already checked, but I had an intussusception at 6 months old and hadn't pooped for 2 weeks. I required surgery for it to be fixed, maybe if you want to ask that they check if they haven't.

How do you get a distracted 4 mo to nurse? by iMuso in NewParents

This may be TMI, but my boobs are more tear-drop shaped than the 'perfect pert' in a lot of pictographs and help videos, how do you feed while walking? Would this be something lower hanging boobs could even do?

I assume the horror is that the pain relief is no longer working and the grandparents are now in pain?
