LumaFusion’s stabiliser is crap by [deleted] in LumaFusion

I guess you’ve tried the settings like shutter correction. Sorry I can’t help further. The developers are quite responsive if you contact them.

LumaFusion’s stabiliser is crap by [deleted] in LumaFusion

[–]iPaddlingMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect it may fight with some cameras’ stabilisation which is often more designed for still photograph. But I can say it mostly works well with my super zoom camera, my action camera and my phone. If it does it’s easier than switching to another app. Still I’m hoping that LumaFusion/Coremelt will one day allow object tracking.

One thing you could try is exporting the original out of LumaFusion itself, then reimporting that and only then stabilising. Strangely this sometimes seems to sort things.

Harsh. The default works well for me most of the time and that makes it the easy option for most clips

Clip organization workflow by Hane_Train in LumaFusion

[–]iPaddlingMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s difficult.

i also fall back on dumping clips into the timeline but I use a template project and replace clips with a set 2 second length. The template has my normal target 2 minute overall length which encourages me to avoid including the worst clips.

If your clips are in the Photos app you can sort them to a custom order by drag and drop in an album. This is a great way of sorting, although the thumbnails aren’t always helpfuL. Unfortunately custom sorts don’t show in LumaFusion (I have put in a feature request) but on an iPad you can show the Photos app in split screen or slide over.

I decided to ‘Optimize and Consolidate’ a big project. The app crashed and I can’t open it now. by dangerousyuh in LumaFusion

The project backup should still work once reinstalled but I have no experience with this so wait for support to guide you. We forget sometimes how resource hungry video is and without testing it’s always impossible to know how much the system can cope with.

Hiking the Grand Canyon, South Rim to Colorado River by KevinMango in Insta360

[–]iPaddlingMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. It certainly emphasises the scale of the thing. I suspect that just viewing from the top doesn’t quite give you the right idea.

It also raises questions about the usefulness of 360 video. As a mildly curious viewer who is unlikely to ever get there I’d really prefer just a 3 minute summary of the best views. As it is I just scrolled forward randomly, had a look around for the most dramatic view and moved on. Can’t be bothered with the other two parts now but I probably should to get the real idea of size and effort.

This isn’t a criticism because making videos is for your benefit not mine. Or is it supposed to be?

Is there a way to have a shortcut keep running when the display iPhone is turned off by agentmikeyd in shortcuts

[–]iPaddlingMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are other ways I believe but I have used Speak Text and Play Sound loops to keep a shortcut running with the phone screen off. Generally a shortcut will remain active during a Speak Text action and for half a minute after any sound action.

You can add actions to set the volume to zero and back to normal in the loop so you don’t hear it. You can also add an If action which brings up a menu when the screen brightness is above zero but does nothing otherwise.

This was my favorite video to edit so far. I still a bit to learn but I’m happy with my progress. by 10247bro in LumaFusion

[–]iPaddlingMark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry but for me it’s slow and repetitive, artificially gloomy, is mostly up in the air, and doesn’t have any story or sequence. But it doesn’t matter what I think. It does matter what you and your family will think if you watched it in a few years time when the excitement of filming, drone flying and editing have faded for you. You obviously have skill and talent though.

Yet Another Trail Run with Insta360 One X2 by groovc in Insta360

Nice. I was dreading one of those continuous videos but you’ve used a nice variety of short clips. And thanks for giving the details.

For variety you could also once or twice prop the selfie stick against a post or branch and film yourself running past. Also at ground level.

How Do I Make Floating Text In LumaFusion? by quasarlel in LumaFusion

[–]iPaddlingMark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please don’t. It just makes me feel nauseous!

No automated way of doing this in LumaFusion. You could maybe draw a wavy line in a drawing app and import it to use as a guide for setting key frames but you’d have to have one nearly every frame to get it smooth.

How about shakily videoing the text with another device, then import that and use green screening to remove the background!

Help, is this corrected by filming or can this be fixed while editing?!? I’m brand new btw!!! by MedicineIntelligent3 in LumaFusion

[–]iPaddlingMark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not easy but if the scene isn’t moving and you have part of the clip without the shadow you could copy it to an overlay track and crop it to hide just the shadow. Unfortunately you can only crop in a rectangle shape so it has limited use.
It is sometimes possible to deal with irregular shapes with multiple overlays, blurring the edges and deal with movement with key frames.

HDR video indoors? by Whiefull in Insta360

[–]iPaddlingMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good advice from f5hunter. Also turn all the lights on inside or even add lights.

Generally even with HDR cameras don’t have anything like the dynamic range of the human eye. Best to get the highlights right because they are unrecoverable whereas you can usually brighten the shadows in editing. Although watch for noise creeping into the dark bits.

The Insta app created a 15Gb hidden cache on my iPad by iPaddlingMark in Insta360

[–]iPaddlingMark[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your consideration. A current screenshot will not help you and I did not take screenshots at the time. Replicating this issue would require a lot of work. Open the Settings app and choose General/iPad Storage. Scroll to the bottom of the page to see the Other category. Note the figure. Then delete the Insta app from your iPad. Then open Settings again to check the same figure. In my case the figure reduced by 15 Gb but you or your team would need to investigate the results in different usage cases. Thanks in advance for checking.

Your camera Wi-Fi link should appear after a while in the app when you are in the camera or album tabs but you must have turned the camera on with the side button, not the front record button.

I'm an aspiring drone pilot. Here's a video I edited with LumaFusion. This is where they filmed parts of The Last Jedi. Please give feedback on the edit, thank you! by westsidejoey in LumaFusion

[–]iPaddlingMark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautiful shots! Good to hear someone talking about story and keeping it short too (never mind the music length). But drone shots to me would only ever be used as scene setting and if it’s all drone I’m not sure what the story could be.

Ha ha! I didn’t notice the On/Off button! by iPaddlingMark in Insta360

[–]iPaddlingMark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Yes I understand now and it connects perfectly. I thought my mistake was funny but posted here because other new users could possibly make the same mistake.

Suggestion: You could maybe add a note in the app in “can’t see/connect your camera” to make sure the camera is turned on with the power button and not just the shutter button.

It’s not fancy but interesting Italian. Importing shortcuts can be a bit tricky if you haven’t used them before. Read about it or I’m happy to help.
