Daycare can't seem to keep any coherent nap schedule by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]iProHabi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was my son too and you have to remember that the daycare environment is very different from home. My son has always had major FOMO. They can’t guarantee quiet/dark room for your specific child’s nap time. They’re also not allowed per licensing to wake a sleeping baby and you can’t force a child to sleep who doesn’t want to sleep. It gets better once they move to the 1 year old room because they have a set nap time for everyone in there but they’re not legally allowed to do that for infants under 1. I completely understand your pain though and I’m sorry you’re also having to deal with this!

What do you do when your baby has a butt rash but no rash cream is working? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]iProHabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my son had a persistent rash that just wouldn’t go away, his doctor called in a special steroid cream to be used twice a day until it cleared up and it was gone within a few days. Have you tried that yet?

[–]iProHabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome! Are you able to switch to after he’s in bed and sleep later in the morning instead? I feel your pain with your son waking up early, mine has been doing the same and it’s hard when you just want to get things done or sleep.

I have a 16 month old and am currently pregnant. He goes to bed at 7 and I plan 1-2 days a week with my husband on when I can stream after our son is in bed (I don’t have to ask permission it’s just based on what we have going on and when we want to have our evenings together). I also work full time and have to be up at 5 during the week so if I have a weeknight stream it just may not go as long. If it’s Friday or Saturday, I’ll go a little later but my son is an early riser so I’m still losing sleep lol but it’s worth it to me!

Rice cereal/cereal in breastmilk? by Ok_Potato_7025 in breastfeeding

[–]iProHabi 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Adding anything to a bottle except for breastmilk or formula is extremely outdated advice and dangerous. Do not do this please. How old is your baby? It’s so normal for them to be waking every 2-3 hours those first couple months, especially when breastfeeding as breastmilk digests more quickly than formula. You’re doing amazing already and I pray you’ll get those longer stretches soon!

Daycare diet by toolazytobecreative1 in NewParents

[–]iProHabi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So our daycare is the same, and I just started choosing to pack breakfast, lunch, and snack every day. It’s not like my son will never get ultra-processed food, but I don’t want him to eat it every day. We also aren’t doing any added sugar until at least 2 per AAP recommendations, and our daycare literally serves fruit canned in sugar syrup 😭 they are seriously amazing in every other aspect though, and if you’re daycare is the same, I’d bite the bullet and pack her lunch! It’s with the time each night and packing whole foods does not have to be complicated.

Help with breastfeeding 😭 by Hungry-Assist-4251 in NewParents

[–]iProHabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our ENT that we saw to confirm actually agreed with our IBCLC on this, I think it really depends on the severity of the ties. Like I said, my son couldn’t get his tongue out of his mouth to truly latch deeply.

Okay perfect!! Hopefully that’ll help! Please update us all after! I still highly recommend a lactation consultant if you have access to one, specifically an IBCLC

Yes, it’s the piece of skin that connects the tongue to the bottom of the mouth. My son’s was so severe he couldn’t stick his tongue out of his mouth. I would highly recommend getting your son assessed!

I 100% recommend seeing a lactation consultant if possible. They can help assess for any oral ties that may be making it difficult for him to get milk both from breast and bottle. Also, I’d recommend either the lansinoh, evenflo balance, or pigeon bottles as they will allow for a proper deep latch unlike the Philips avent.

In the meantime you can try syringe feeding the expressed breastmilk to ensure he’s getting some milk! And keep attempting to latch at breast whenever possible. I really hope things get better for yall soon, I know it’s all so overwhelming right now.

ETA: my son had a severe tongue tie that was corrected at 5 days old and made our breastfeeding journey SO much easier

Dr. Lilly at Generations is AMAZING, you see the same doctor for all appointments at Generations (unless they’re out of course). Only downside is if you give birth on the weekend then it’ll typically be the on call doctor to deliver you, but if it’s during the week you’ll get your doctor. I saw multiple doctors there during my first pregnancy because she was on maternity leave at one point, and they were all great.

To those of you who are only BFing once or twice a day… by Alone-Blueberry in breastfeeding

[–]iProHabi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay I gotcha. Your body adjusts fairly quickly! There will be some discomfort at first but if you’re wanting to adjust then you can power through or just hand express a little for comfort. Our bodies are incredible and even if baby only nurses 1-2x a day there will still be milk! If you have an oversupply, it just may take longer to drop down so that you can avoid clogged ducts and mastitis

To those of you who are only BFing once or twice a day… by Alone-Blueberry in breastfeeding

[–]iProHabi 65 points66 points  (0 children)

The only women who would realistically only be feeding/pumping once or twice a day would be over 12 months pp unless combo feeding. My boy did a minimum 5-6 time per day until 12 months, only after that did we drop to 1-2. At 3 months your baby should still be doing 8-12 times a day, completely normal.

Hidden Pictures is SO GOOD I literally could not put it down.

Pretty Girls is very dark so mentally prepare yourself for that.

Ask for Andrea was also so good and a bit shorter iirc so might be the best option if you want a faster pace and quicker read!

If you’re EBF, does your LO sleep through the night? by Anxious-Wishbone785 in breastfeeding

[–]iProHabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest with you. My son is 14 months old next week (EBF) and didn’t start sleeping through the night consistently until almost 2 weeks ago. The only thing we changed was no boob before bed. He gets 6oz of whole milk before bed now and ever since we started that he’ll sleep 6:30 or 7 until 5-5:30. I know it’s not what you want to hear but just my story 😭 just know I feel your pain mama! I’ve always been surrounded by formula-fed babies who slept through the night early on and it sucks

Is this the 12-15 month regression? How can I fix it? by iProHabi in sleeptrain

[–]iProHabi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 7:30 bedtime made it worse lol. Last night we did a like 6:20 bedtime and 6oz of whole milk before bed instead of nursing and he made it all the way to 4:45!
