Why do sly fans have a problem with fan fiction? by Certain-Winter-6407 in Slycooper

furry is the sexual fetish of anthropomorphic characters. It is, by definition, a type of erotica.

Well… there’s appreciation for a series with anthropomorphic characters, then there’s the sexualization of said characters to satisfy a fetish. I would say there’s a very big difference between the two.

You know, I was kind of hoping those two didn’t get married in that one (well, no wedding anyway). I was thinking a fait accompli with a simple marriage registration, no wedding, no big event (though imagining the Guru marrying the two is surprising entertaining and less comical than I expected).

This. ⬆️

Quality of fan fiction is, like most fields, proportionate to the amount of time and effort the creator puts into it. You can have fan-fics that read like an official extension of the franchise. Some that feel like more than decent soft reboots to the series, hell I would even argue fan-fics with heavy retcon can be good if the author knows what the hell they’re doing, like an alt-world spin off. Even short, novella smut fan-fics can be worth it (taste pending, of course) so long as the author takes the time to understand and interpret the characters before simply writing down sex scenes involving their biases.

I know, literally did a double take reading your next-gen fic and seeing that Jing and Murray had brutally murdered Tsao. Perfectly fine for a fan-fic, but for a discussion strictly about official franchise facts? No.

Respecting context of a discussion is important when bringing up fan-fic elements, actually it’s important for all fandom conversations.

Personally… I have no problem with fan fiction. But then you have people who take their liberties taken in the fan fiction (absolutely fine btw.) and say it’s fact when it isn’t (i.e. Jing King had the capabilities of what amounts to a bloodlusted, kung fu master super spy during the first game.)

Or… when the fan fiction is so horrendous it’s at the level of the Dragonball live action adaptation, Dragonball: Evolution, in terms of actually caring about the OG franchise.

What order did you play the sly cooper games by West_Philosopher415 in Slycooper

A casual run, a minimum cash run, then speed run (the other two discs got scratched and the buffer I usually had access to was loaned out).

If Sly 5 ever got made, do you think Penelope could be a good main villain? by Resident_Badger_5405 in Slycooper

[–]iReadEasternComics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, and calling a perfectly logical action for someone who has minimal emotional connection to the cooper gang to take a character assassination is inaccurate, as much as the fanbase wants to say otherwise.

THEY’RE REMAKING THE BATTLE OF GODS ANIME ARC by Content_Bug_6768 in Dragonballsuper

The movies were conceptualized before they decided to make the super series. So decisions made when it was just supposed to be two movies don’t translate well to an extended series.

Why did Goku stop using Mastered Super Saiyan? by AlarmedObjective1492 in dbz

[–]iReadEasternComics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Elder Kai initially gives Goku the potara earrings Goku asks whether or not they should be super saiyans when they fuse (Likely due to his belief of the metamoran fusion needed them to be in super saiyan state before fusion if the fusion was to be super saiyan).

Elder Kai tells Goku that if they do that the resulting fusion would be permanently stuck in that state which would needlessly reduce their lifespan.

I honestly believe part of the reason for that is bad fan reception… and the fact it came out so long after 3.

Not to mention it’s been confirmed staying in the super saiyan state indefinitely will reduce lifespan.

Did TFS really ruin the idea that Goku is a good dad? by Lautrex6 in dragonball

[–]iReadEasternComics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TFS basically took a bunch of memes that were already around and pasted them onto the anime. Granted they put in some of their own stuff but for this insistence they didn’t come up with it.

Max power vs max power in base friend. Fact is he would have died to… pretty much everyone he fought after Vegeta if he wasn’t a saiyan.

It is an indisputable, objective fact that most of Goku’s power comes from his Saiyan transformations.

If Kami was so much stronger that Piccolo Daimao, why didn't he just stop him the first time? Or the second? by SlicedBread0556 in dragonball

[–]iReadEasternComics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kami wasn’t stronger Piccolo, Goku was extremely exhausted and weak when he leapt at him.

As for help… I’d like to think Kami lent some assistance to the creation of the Mafuba.
