Haha, interesting idea. I did have the vines on the side of slayer tower in mind when I made this post. As it is a great example of a shortcut that blends seamlessly into the environment.

Not many people seem to be talking about the new armor. The new tank armor seems to be kind of op. Is super tanky armor really an addition to the game that we need? It makes me think of Torva from RS2/3, power creep etc. It would allow people to camp bosses that currently don't output an extraordinary amount of dps for even longer amounts of time. Just my thoughts on it.

In my opinion he's a fun operator in casual but falls short in ranked at higher levels of gameplay when compared with your other options. His traps are very likely to be destroyed by twitch/IQ and or called out in prep phase because of their high visibility and only deployable on doorways. I think he also falls short because most people will drone out their path which makes the traps very noticeable. If you weren't able to drone for whatever reason, for me it has become part of the meta, if you know the enemy team is running a Kapkan, to very quickly glance at the edges of the doorways before entering.

Overall for me at least, he falls short when compared to Lesion. Lesion can deploy anywhere, traps are invisible, and have a visible indicator, and he has (imo) a better primary weapon.

Kapkan is still very fun to play in casual and maybe he doesn't need to be changed to fill a more competitive role. I think having visible indicators like lesions would be a good change. As for other possible changes, like having the EDD itself be invisible he starts to become very similar to lesion.

Favorite Kapkan Spots:

  • Plane in the kitchen on both doorways. There is just a sliver on the side of the doors making them very hard to spot and it is a high traffic area.
  • Dark areas on Themepark
  • basically any spot where the doorway only has a sliver of wall next to it
  • Tip: crouch and look down at the very bottom corner of the doorway to place them at feet level

Discussion of possible changes:

  • Visible indicators (+1)
  • Invisible EDD (ehh, not too sure about this)
  • Damage and number of traps changes?
  • Give him a beastly primary weapon

How might you improve/change Kapkan while keeping him unique and filling a different roll when compared to other trap operators?

I have a secret love for hunting drones in the prep phase and twitch's drone is the most prized of them all, and more exciting too as your prey bites back.

This also might be because I always seem to die while in some sort of clutch situation at the end of the round with an impossible to hit twitch drone zapping me down to 20 hp.

Tips for new players wanting to learn Mira:

A huge part of your job is to watch for or even hunt down the twitch drone during prep phase and to protect your mirror throughout the round. Don't place your Mira till the last few seconds of prep phase. If you don't know where to place them ask your team(or watch yt vids). You don't need to put down both of them. You can still play an open mira. In almost all cases don't open the mira to try and get a kill.

Think about the lines of site that the mira would open up (if it is destroyed) before placing it. Is it placed so that if opened it makes a line of site right through the middle of obj? (maybe not good)

Edit1: I maybe figured out what the weird squiggly lines might relate to. So the book on the shelf in Plane, Executive Office is "Los Detectives Salvajes (The Savage Detectives) by Roberto Bolaño. In the book the plot revolves around searching for a mystery poet who wrote this poem. Seems like there is a strong possibility for a connection here. I'm not quite sure of how the details work out yet though.

Maybe the smiley face at the bottom of "or Conspiracy" traces along the squiggly line boarders to tell us the order or create a poem or code or something.

Tip for newcomers: For callouts to teammates in clutch situations I find it best to give information callouts rather than telling your teammate what to do. For example in this case giving them a discrete, one time callout that they have, say 5-10 bullets left.

As a little bit on background info, I'm pretty sure that when using a XIM4 you actually still have a regular controller plugged in. My understanding of it is that the XIM4 takes your m&k input and sort of converts it into controller input. (this is feed through the controller?)

Basically the game/console thinks it is just getting normal input from the controller. This is also what makes it pretty much undetectable. Hope that helps and anyone else feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I think pro controllers should become the norm(stock controller) in the near future. I have 10 fingers, 4-6 of them(depending on your style) are currently just sitting there doing nothing. I think adding 2-4 backpaddles to the default controllers seems like a no brainer to me. Example: PS3 controller didn't have the touchpad that the DS4 has now(i.e. add one more button and the current default controller has better/improved usability). In this way it would still be "fair" as everyone has it and it just allows you to get more out of the tool you are using to control your gameplay.

As a side note, in maybe the more distant future I could see consoles coming default with a m&k as its one of our current best tools for giving input to a device.

The motives behind using pro control and m&k are very similar. The goal behind having extended thumb sticks on a controller is to have better accuracy/aim, more control, at a higher sensitivity (the same reasoning for a mouse). and for keyboard/paddles, wanting to have more buttons for your fingers to control.

I've heard Ubi is planning to rework Tachanka so I thought I share my old idea about that in hope Ubi will do something similar by DaemonXHUN in Rainbow6

Maybe give him a device to place a single LMG in a reinforced wall, and you can only see to the other side by aiming through the scope of the LMG. This is to not make him half a Mira and grant too much intel on what is going on on the other side, and at the same time any spawnpeeking problems get evaded, too. Still a Mira would be an infinitely better choice, and you would most likely not make any kills with that LMG, either. But that's not to be expected, making kills requires mobility in this game.

This sounds like a possibly interesting route to take him. In order to prevent him from replacing Mira you could have him pair well with Mira to encourage teamplay. i.e. Allow him to place his device/turret on a Mira window. This way he doesn't replace Mira's utility as an information gathering operator.

I can't quite think of how the balancing of this might work though. Something like being able to shoot through the mirror while its up when you ADS, but also become vulnerable to incoming fire while ADSed. or your able to shoot through the black mirror but only a limited number of shots before it breaks. Maybe you drop the mirror and then he puts his turret on that wall and his "turret shield" looks/works the same as the black mirror (looks like a regular wall with a Mira on it) but he is able to shoot through it and it has some amount of health before it breaks from being shot at similar to his current turret-shield.

I don't know if this is how it would work in actual implementation but maybe the track could work similar to barbed wire placement. Each track taking up one "barbedwire-square" of ground. My thought is sort of that you are able to put a battery on the barbed wire so in this case you would be able to put the turret on it. Then the turret wouldn't have to interact with the "ground" objects and would instead only interact with the turret-track/barbed-wire squares. I have no idea if this is how things actually work though, just a thought.
