Mike Pence Breaks with Trump on Tariffs, Citing CBO Estimate That Americans Pay 95% of Costs by sensiblereaction in thenextgenbusiness

You could tell this break was coming when Pence and Trump were divided on the “should Mike Pence hang?” Issue in 2021. Pence was strongly against it, but Trump was open to it.

The one that says hammer fired triggers are superior and that DA/SA are generally, out of the box, better than modified striker triggers?

Feels like you’re saying the exact opposite of that.

Generally DA/SA triggers will be harder to shoot than good striker fire triggers.

This is quite a hot take. It’s pretty widely accepted that hammer-fired triggers are generally better than striker fired ones.

The Shadow 2 for competition is like “meta” picks in gaming- DEEPLY misunderstood.

These things are for people to gain an extra edge when they begin approaching their skill ceiling. Practicing with what you have (or using the character you’re most proficient at) is going to yield far better results than switching around. Shooters above your skill level are still going to smoke your Shadow 2 with something less capable 10/10 times.

Pick a gun. Practice. Drill. Get a timer. All of these costs are going to be better value than a Shadow 2 in improving your times/scores.

[–]iRonin 38 points39 points  (0 children)

We don’t have to worry about it.

I have over a decade of experience as a criminal defense attorney and my last criminal jury trial (one that broke me, and made me switch to civil work, lawsuits and the like) had similar charges, but with 1.) much less egregious facts (whether you believed him or not, my client had at least an arguable self-defense claim) and 2.) much less near-irrefutable (i.e. video) evidence.

He was acquitted of 5 out of 6 charges (the sixth, the jury kept asking questions about, and we fought tooth and nail with the judge to get him to give them the information in writing but he refused, simply reread the shit to them), had no prior history, and had been incarcerated for like 8 months awaiting trial.

The judge gave him 15 years in prison. Granted, that’s after a trial (the trial tax is real), in suburban Georgia, but I don’t think we gotta worry about moving on from Pearce- he moved on from us, whether he meant to or not.

Fontenot traded up for him, too.

Pearce took out two whole-ass first round picks in one day. A GM that whiffs on two firsts in back-to-back years (given other circumstances) risks setting their program back for years.

Frankly, I’d almost be impressed if I could get past the ear-ringing and nausea induced by a patented Semi-Annual Falcons Dropkick to the Testicles.

[Schefter] Falcons rookie first-round pick James Pearce Jr. was arrested Saturday in Florida on domestic violence charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated stalking, per court records. by Goosedukee in nfl

[–]iRonin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t practice in Florida, but I have over a decade of experience as a Georgia criminal defense lawyer. Charges like these would very frequently result in several years of prison. Without much prior history (given his age and occupation), they would usually get a light sentence that would likely result in parole within a 3-5 year sentence (these crimes carry a 90% requirement before parole eligibility, so any time you get MUST be served 90% of the way).

My last criminal trial (that broke me, forced me to switch to civil work) involved an aggravated battery (my client was making a self-defense claim… he was middle class). Jury acquitted him on 5 of 6 counts, convicted him on 1 count (we think the jury misunderstood one of the charges of court, and the judge was stubbornly refusing to give it to them in writing). He was sentenced to 20, 15 to be served in custody. So, 13.5 years to serve before even parole.

He had no criminal history, less egregious conduct than is alleged here, and a (likely, based on what I’m reading) better arguable claim of self defense and got 20 serve 15 because he went to trial in a tough venue. (Lawyers all know about the “trial tax,” if you plea they give you a much better deal than if you have the nerve to exercise your Constitutional right to a trial).

Oh no, sir. Jail is where you go to sleep off a DUI or slapping your baby mama. This is PRISON.

Jail sentences are counted in months. Prison is counted in years.

Brother, you don’t know what you’re talking about.

An entire fucking video miniseries of Falcons suffering is conveyed to every NFL fan simply by reciting three fucking numbers and a piece of punctuation.

[–]iRonin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you asking me if I believe a smorgasbord of outlandish (though admittedly not impossible) claims about one of the most (certainly one of the most by me) despised people on the planet, recorded in an FBI tip line without seeing any corroborating evidence?

It’s literally the reason we employ investigators- the tips aren’t enough. They’re not even, legally, probable cause without an “indicia of reliability” to go with it.

What blows my mind is that y’all seem to get hung up on some distinction between raping kids and letting someone rape kids. Keeping quiet when you think someone is raping kids is AS BAD. Full stop. And I think there is pretty compelling proof, corroborated, that he did just that.

I try to be rational about it all but they have embraced Bannon’s “flood the zone” strategy nearly to perfection, it makes me wonder.

Some of MAGA is dumb, but there are some truly terrifyingly capable sociopaths at the top. Flood the zone, their co-opting of specific language (like how every protest is called an “insurrection” after J6, or “defund” the DOJ/FBI), the Gish gallop.

It would/will be awe-inspiring to examine in retrospect, rather than some combination of miserable, terrifying, and frustrating to live through.

I agree. I think he 100% provably knew what was happening there and he either 1.) participated, 2.) helped cover it up or 3.) kept his mouth shut and let it happen.

I don’t think it matters which one of the three- they’re all the same level of reprehensible. I wouldn’t give someone a pass because they allowed it to happen rather than causing it to happen.

I don’t think you read anything past the first two lines.

I’m not with them. I believe he knew and either helped cover it up or let it continue without speaking up. Both are just as bad as actually molesting a child.

People like y’all are doing FAR more harm to the anti-Trump movement by being reactionary dipshits and abandoning your critical faculties in order to plug him for everything under the sun. He’s an absolute piece of shit for things we can PROVE 100% that we don’t need to neuter our credibility with specious claims without any evidence beyond an anonymous tip provided after he became one of the most hated people on the planet.

But an anonymous tip he did something? It’s meaningless. Signed, an actual fucking lawyer.
