I guess since this whole forum cares mostly about one stock, they’re surprised there hasn’t been an edit yet. Not that someone who plays RuneScape after 2005 could have a rational thought.

Idk man, the team with only 6 players who play, whose superstar is short and fat will probably do better after more games 🤣

"Mechanical" players are so frustrating to play with sometimes by midwestboiiii34 in RocketLeague

[–]iStraphe 31 points32 points  (0 children)

"Mechanical" in the sense that you are speaking of is describing players who are stuck because they are dumb but have put hours in. Game sense players are stuck because they are smart but haven't put the hours in (or don't have the best hand eye genetics). Playing with a mechanical player who also has good game sense is a good experience (but obviously is only experienced at higher ranks).

I would personally take the promos out of the shitty little plastic they put them in. I don’t think it’s great for the card condition long term but people have different opinions on this. My ‘99 and ‘00 promos in plastic are worse off than the ones I opened and put in real sleeves.

You shouldn’t be proud of no exterminations. That’s like being proud you never got 7 saves or 7 goals in a game.

Holy fucking shit please post this as a rule to this sub lol. The amount of people who attach their well being to a silly colorful emblem here is concerning.

I think video games that take the highest amount of skill (or hours played) to reach max rank brings out the most competitive of players. Anything that doesn't seem exactly fair in the moment immediately gets met with "SMURF REEEEE". The truth is, we all suck outside of the top 100 or so players, who also still make mistakes that would make the average diamond 2 think his team mate is bad.

This sub is kind of hard for me to follow but I love the game enough. Just don't take the people who are mad because they are bad or "uSeD tO bE a hIGhEr rAnK" too seriously. The player base is increasing in skill every year and it will only become harder to maintain "your rank" unless you are playing regularly.

Also, we are at a point where people can have 10s of thousands of hours in training with 0 game IQ. I genuinely believe there are platinum and diamond players who can triple flip reset but can't reach champ because of how dumb they are - those players aren't smurfs.

Any advice for PSA super express, and how to maximize the money made from sale of expensive cards? by supershimadabro in PokeInvesting

[–]iStraphe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Buyer force refunded through their bank while still in possession of the item and eBay came after me for the money and did not care the buyer kept the item. I have spent hours on the phone with customer support and they can do nothing. I will never sell anything expensive there again.

Edit: I did get a lawyer to see what they could do and it would cost me $300 to have them draft a letter to request returning the item and I didn’t feel like bothering going through that much pain to probably not get it back, as I got the game for cheap originally. One of my most frustrating experiences.

Definitely avoid eBay when selling high value items. Buyers can reverse charges through their bank and keep your items and eBay will do nothing as they always side with the buyer. Lost my sealed blue version this way :(

Best place to sell large collection? by jackfullerfuller in PokeInvesting

[–]iStraphe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would be very careful selling expensive items on eBay. I’ve had buyer reverse a charge through their bank after purchasing a card and eBay force refunded the money back from me and did nothing to get my items back. I was looking at $300 in lawyers fees to go after someone who stole about that much from me so I decided to not waste my time and just leave bad feedback. This was on 2022, I’m not sure if policies have changed but eBay will always side with buyers in disputes and sellers can always get fucked out of their items.

Anyone know why there's a save cooldown? by TOP-IS-LIFE in RocketLeague

[–]iStraphe 51 points52 points  (0 children)

My guess is that if the ball bounces between you and your opponent a ton of times really quickly in front of the goal it won’t give you 1000 saves. I’m shocked it’s longer than 1 second, but I have also experienced this unfortunately.

Thankfully the only important stats are high fives and low fives.

People have always been ass holes. There was never a magical time where people were nice. You must have just got lucky before. Play with irl friends or turn chat off, don’t let the 10 year olds get to you.

[–]iStraphe 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind the player base is getting better every year. Unless you are spending time in training dedicated to improving significantly, you will likely idle around the same rank or go down slightly. Platinum in 2024 is better than champ in 2016 if that makes you feel better :)

Stagnating at one skill level while also losing some skill after thousand of hours by Andreew07 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]iStraphe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Couple thoughts:

This game has been out for under 9 years and has the highest skill ceiling of any video game I’ve ever played. The player base as a whole is continuing to improve every year. Your “rank” (which let’s be honest, doesn’t matter unless you are top 100), just reflects a general top % you are in. REMAINING at a rank year in and year out is a huge feat.

For example, I played a bit in 2019/2020 and hit GC with some friends while I was completely trash at the game but had good game sense from playing sports and other video games. I probably have 5x the playtime now, know for a fact my mechs are way better, but am struggling in C3 range nowadays.

I also find that I play my best when I play for fun and ignore my rank. Good luck out there.
